What's with the Snow Forests? If you're going to run Talara's Battalion, I would suggest running Nettle Sentinel or another mana Elf (Boreal Druid, but that's rotating soon). And yeah, gut that sideboard...I would maybe put Snakeform in there to deal with a lot of the threats that this deck can't deal with now.
People seem to completely hate some cards. First off, I really would love to know how 1) this card isn't CA and 2) how this card is bad. It's 3 to deal 3 and your opponent discards three. It's like saying Gerrard's Verdict was bad in extended. Idk some people dont make sense. It will definately see play. And the fact that it's a common is ridiculous.
No one is saying it's bad...it's definitely a bomb in limited and will probably see sideboards in constructed. Unfortunately, the only thing people can do at this point without the rest of the set spoiled is see how it fits in current decks, with DDW being the closest match...and it really just doesn't have a place there. It's not an aggressive enough burn spell, and the discard doesn't really matter. Most R/B decks are aggressive that can play a better burn spell or creature turn 3. This wants to be in a discard/control deck...if Alara brings more elements for black to use along with this and Thoughtseize, then it will see play
You guys are all like "omg it dies to removal spells" as if Tarmogoyf didn't? You can terror a Tarmogoyf but it was still a thirty dollar card..stop crying that it dies most creatures can die lol..my god.
...really? 'Goyf = 2-drop with a single G in the mana cost...this = 3-color monstrosity that comes down much later. While I still think this card is pretty decent, there's a difference in arguing about removal for this compared to 'Goyf or any other easily splashed bomb.
Let's go PSU!!! '06 alumnus...my biggest dissapointment with them is their crappy non-conference schedule. Whipping Coastal Carolina, Temple, Akron and the likes every year doesn't really help :/
What is the goal of the deck? I think if you want to keep destroying everyone's stuff and then burn them out, I would suggest W/R with life gain and spells that damage everyone. Maybe the following as a basic idea (this is something I've never tried)
I don't think I really even have a wincon there besides Molten Distaster, but it's a start...I threw in the Paladins and Auriok Champions for the pro-red, so your spells don't kill them.
It's light on creatures, so that could definitely be changed. And then of course, you could completely change directions and go the thallid route, which it looks like you have some of...and that makes Doubling Season even more effective
I'm torn on this one...I feel like you'd never hardcast it, as I'd say Kitchen Finks and Wilt-Leaf Cavaliers are easily better, which means you're basically cutting out 4 cards from your 60 card deck to play it, but then what 4 cards do you take out?
This is just rough thoughts but I do think it has more potential all-around in Green/Red or White/Red.
This is no good. Goblin Assault makes your tokens attack each turn, so by the time you throw down Overrun, you won't have any creatures left (because they will all have been blocked, killed) to get pumped, except the Llanowar Elves which you already tapped to get the Overrun in the first place.
Solemn Simulacrum FTW!!! Murderous Redcap seems fun/annoying in this kind of deck...Avalanche Riders could also be considered, but then I think most people would just stuff their recently destroyed lands down your throat. Really, this could be turned into a Blink/Lark deck with green thrown in there....I like it
You shouldn't ever have to worry about running out of cards in a game...it really is optimal to stick to a 60 card deck so that you maximize your chances of playing your key threats every game. However, if your games really go that long, then I might consider 1-2 copies of Wheel of Sun and Moon, which will prevent you from decking yourself (provided someone doesn't waste removal on it)...then you could almost go with a Fog strategy, where you just gain life, prevent damage to yourself, and stall out until everyone else decks themselves...which really isn't fun to play with or against.
Have you ever thought about removing the chaotic backlash and maybe going for 2 demigod's since you want to keep it monored? I feel like I'm missing the point of the painters servant+backlash combo for this deck, does it come up that often ? or maybe not even the demigod but the dominus himself.
Not to mention the Servant turns all your Monored spells into R/U spells (am I right? Never used the card), which is great for the mimics...No love for Shrewd Hatchling? That card can get beastly fast in this kind of deck, although not sure what you could cut out. I guess backlash is just as efficient...I do love some R/U though, EVE made it a doozy
Very quick list of what I could think of off the top of my head, and I realize this needs more 1 drops...but I don't think this deck can afford to go any higher than 4cc. Light from Within might not be needed with the Lieges, because that's just overkill and doesn't do anything on its own. Mmm...I love me some tribal...I'll miss Pentarch PaladinPosted in: New Card Discussion
Just play it in R/B tokens... just because a card isn't as good as bitterblossom doesn't mean it sucks. This is just a fixed version. Bitterblossom, Goblin assault, seige gang commander, marsh flitter, rise of the hobgoblins, mad auntie, goblin king, torrent of souls, burn... this could be feasible. Although the lack of Gargadon and War Marshal is a little sad.
I was thinking of something along the same lines...but it's going to need a lot of support from the rest of the set to be promising. B/R can pump out some bigger beef faster than this and can easily dispose of low toughness creatures en-masse

Correctness....What can't that deck play?
4x Auriok Champion
4x Paladin en-Vec
2x Divinity of Pride
2x Sulfurous Blast
4x Faith's Fetters
2x Beacon of Immortality
3x Austere Command
3x Heroes Remembered
4x Molten Disaster
12x Plains
I don't think I really even have a wincon there besides Molten Distaster, but it's a start...I threw in the Paladins and Auriok Champions for the pro-red, so your spells don't kill them.
4x Selesnya Guildmage
4x Thelonite Hermit
3x Bramble Elemental
3x Sprout Swarm
3x Fists of Ironwood
4x Glare of Subdual
3x Scatter the Seeds
2x Overrun
2x Doubling Season
2x Verdant Embrace
2x Supply//Demand
11x Forest
11x Plains

4x Safehold Elite
4x Kitchen Finks
4x Qassal Ambush Force
4x Wilt-Leaf Cavaliers
4x Wilt-Leaf Liege
4x Oversoul of Dusk
4x Shield of the Oversoul
24x Land
Of course that's not optimal...I don't play G/W, but I feel like those 4 slots are pretty important
