I've never been a Fan of Ib, and Kiki was decent, but he would sit in my hand until the very end. There was never a time I'd rather spend 5 mana to cast him than drop 2-3 other things. Both are good, but they didn't really fit how I wanted to play the deck.

To each their own I guess. Smile

Ib has been a wincon on multiple occasions, and nothing I could see pulling.

I plan on playing Rally in my paper deck but havn't been sold on it online. But as for adding in mana accel, I did some testing a bit back where I changed the mana base and cut out some of the top cmc of the deck (Ib, Kiki), to add in ramp. It's what I'm currently running on Cockatrice. Also, to go with the hand cycling of Reforge and Wheel, I threw in Memory Jar, it's good.

Oh wow, you cut Kiki and Ib? Huh... well, I guess to each their own. I couldn't see either of those leaving my list, sparing a ban. I'll just be running 34 lands, Sol Ring, and Mana Crypt, which I think is fine and gives us plenty of speed.

Haze of Rage was quite a bit of fun in testing, though I think In the Web of War is better because it is a haste enabler, and I'm not sure if there's anything else I'd want to cut for Haze.

I'm looking at cutting a land to add Mana Crypt. Fast mana in a deck that aims to be fast and isn't worried too much of the repercussions (i.e. if we get pushed to mid and late game, we wont be winning in many cases). But I do wonder if that puts us too low on land count. I do like to run a fetchland or two as well, because if we draw it going into the midgame, it'll get two cards we don't want out of the deck, instead of just the one.

I've also been considering Goblin Rally, even though it's over-costed, because putting 4 Goblins into play for a flat cost has to be decent... right?

Is Jarad's ability to sac a creature's power to each player considered commander damage?

// If you ran Skullbriar as a general then used Jarad's ability to sac Skullbriar would that be considered commander damage?

No, only combat damage done by the general counts as "commander damage."

if you want a recommendation Sioux, imo Goblin Lackey and Chieftain appear to look the best together.

Just came back to say the sig is insane DNC. thanks again Grin

I left so many options because they can't always get high quality images, so I figured that if I gave a bunch of options, Sioux would be sure to get the images he needed.

The only thing I don't like about Goblin Chieftain is the art really doesn't make sense. He's a Goblin leading a horde, making them bigger, and making them faster... yet it's just a picture of a Goblin with nothing around him. Goblin Warchief is a great example of art that meets the card. Smile

As for price, Mana Crypt costs $60-80, about as much as most ABUR dual lands.

Nah, it's not that much. There's a judge foil for like $50 mint in the Sale section.

I can't build a RG deck to save my life. I've tried so many times with so many different generals, and I just can't give enough ****s to complete the list. Ever. And on the rare occasions such a list becomes existent, it's quick to make one appearance, fail miserably, and then become immediately disassembled.

This, and Nin the Pain Artist. I've been trying to build Nin for months and months and finally gave up trying.

I will point out the Krosan Grip is not the best against things like Tormod's Crypt. Generally these are only played right before the are used, so you don't have priority to kgrip. On the other hand sometimes people get greedy and run out the Relic of Progenitus early to start eating one card at a time so there is some value there.

    Bind is a great suggestion.

I have also found that the deck is not overly reliant on the graveyard. Sure not having one makes Jarad small, but that is not a huge deal since I generally don't win via general beat down. LoE can still be pretty big, but is also worse. You are basically loosing out on the sac huge guy to Jarad plan (unless someone else has a large yard), and a bit on the Shizo plan. You also do not have the benefit of using Regrowth/Ewit/Reanimator spells as "tutors."

Basically, the only thing that is really bad for you is Leyline. Which we run several ways to get rid of, and you can pack more if you run into it a lot. The other ones are one shot effects that happen, and then you keep going. Just don't throw too much stuff into your yard.

Generally though I can win via putting together some other engine, like Mimic Vat, or our combo or Koko loops (where he ends up back in play, bad against Leyline, good against relic).

The deck is versatile against yard hate, and has multiple ways to win if the hate comes out. Plus, as you said, we have several ways to get rid of yard hate.

Bind works pretty well against some of the graveyard destruction cards. And it's useful on occasion against other things you didn't originally anticipate, like Oblivion Stone for example.

That's a great suggestion, if you're having problems with graveyard hate, Bind and Krosan Grip are two good/great tools to fight it.

Yup, just put in the order, should be delivered by the weekend. Going to be proxying up some of the cards like Goblin Piledriver and Sharpshooter, but thankfully the people in my EDH group is good with it. I figure I'll get them from trades in time.

Awesome, I hope you enjoy playing Krenko! Grin

I'll test out Haze of Rage and post some results.

Oh, I found a card that could be pretty interesting. Today after the mention of Dynacharge. It made me wonder if there was a buyback version of this kind of effect. To my surprise there is. What's better about it? It has storm.

Haze of Rage it's a card to definitely look at. A one shot +3/+0 for 6 mana doesn't seem bad. Or using it over and over with dropping other spells to get +2/+0 for 4 multiple times seems pretty good.

On another note, I'm finally getting around to getting/proxying up the cards for this deck and playing it at my Local EDH scene, really looking forward to it.

With the shear amount of spells we can cast in a turn, Haze of Rage really interests me, great find! Smileup

I know there will be times when I top deck it and I'll cry a little inside, but at most points, it has amazing potential.

I hope you get the chance to sleeve it up soon! Grin

Pestilence is in fact a great answer to tokens in your meta. I have a pestilence demon in my kresh deck (similar to this deck), and it really hurts token decks. Not only that, it weakens people for a jarad sac.

Krosan grip. Besides that, you have to play in a way that forces them to pop their grave yard hate before you actually need it.

I like both of your answers Drizzle, thank you. Smile

    Quote from aDubiousNotion
This is the meta that I deal with. It's not uncommon for my graveyard to get exiled twice in a game, and it's happened up to four times in a single game.

If they have one of the persistant exiles (Leyline, Rest in Peace, etc), then you need to destroy those. One time exile effects (Crypt, Relic, etc) can be worked around.

Essentially you need to put just enough in your graveyard that they have to exile it but you only lose minimal cards. Then do it again. Also take advantage of large guys to swing with. The new Worldspine Wurm is anti-grave-hate tech.

The other option is to add answers to graveyard hate. There are several instants that allow you to rescue cards from your grave, and if there's enough hate in your meta you should consider those.

Another route is giving yourself Hexproof. A majority of single-use exile effects target a player. Witchbane Orb, which is 4CMC for Dimir House Guard, can prevent them from being able to touch your yard.

My short answer to these yard-hate questions is; sculpt your list around your meta so that you have the answers to your opponent's questions. If you need to be able to react or be proactive against the hate, then certainly do so.

It's an effective reprint of Trumpet Blast for what this deck would like it to do. Trumpet Blast isn't in the deck, so I'm going to go ahead and venture that it isn't likely that the card would be put in.

Well put. That was essentially my thought on it as well.

I've been playing Krenko a lot lately, and I'll have some updates up soon. Smile
