A New and Exciting Beginning

The End of an Era

After a rough weekend, today was the first good day in a long while. After finishing my Final Exam, which I passed (yay! :D), I headed to my friends house. He had his brothers up for the weekend, who wanted to play some Magic.

Although I played a bit of Magic, I learned more about myself and a bit about life, than I did of gameplay. As my friends younger brother & wife (both around my age) were there, I watched them interact and I realized somethings about life.

    1) The most important thing in a relationship, is both people accepting each other for who they really are.

    2) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

    3) #2 becomes even more true, when someone really loves you, you see things you never saw before in them, that you truly love.

I've made the decision to no longer date women who are high maintenance and require changes from me. That's not to say that everything I do is right, and I wont change throughout the relationship, as we adjust to each other, but I shouldn't have to change who I am for anyone.

I have a new perspective on life, and I'm excited for what is to come, hopefully that will involve a new relationship, which I now feel more ready for & comfortable with.

    Until next time,

Well, I just came back from my 2nd bench press competition, and was happy to take home 3rd in my division (Junior Open). It was great to see all the people there supporting each other, and makes me want to be better all the more.

Unfortunately, the rest of the weekend was able to offset my entire mood. My girlfriend, who lives about 300miles away, was supposed to arrive at our Hotel (about 15mins from where the meet took place) around 2pm, and as I hadn't seen her for almost two months, I was quite excited for her arrival. Well, 4pm came around before she arrived, by way of a Final Exam that was moved, not allowing her to leave at her scheduled time.

After she arrived, we threw our stuff in our room, and headed to the pool. After a half an hour or so of swimming, we dried off, got dressed and headed out to dinner.

Dinner was wonderful, but unfortunately, I received some impolite calls from local Magic players wondering "where the hell I was" as it was Friday night after all. I informed each and every one of the calls I received that I had posted my absence on our local forums for several weeks, which each of them had been instructed to check for changes, and I also gave them a warning each and every Friday for a month that I would not be coming.

Although it was quite annoying to explain myself over and over, dinner was still quite nice. It was great just to see her and be with her that nothing could really ruin the night. And, nothing would test that principle more than when I went to pay for the bill and realized that while we were swimming, someone from the hotel had let themselves into our rooms and cleaned out our wallets. Fortunately, there was a ATM nearby, so I was able to cover the check easily enough, but still, it was really disheartening (especially with the hundreds in cash I had b/c of paying for competition stuff, the hotel, gas, etc).

When we returned to the hotel, we informed the front desk personal of what had happened, and they responded quite rudely that there was no possibility of this, and that we were wrong. Well, I wasn't going to waste the rest of the night arguing with an old lady that was too busy knitting to give me the time of day. So, we went back to the room, and started getting ready for bed, I had a competition the next day after all.

About 9:00PM, I woke up to the sound of my girlfriend's phone ringing. Her friend was calling to let her know that her best friend was just in a car accident and had extremely serious injuries. So, she decided to head back home to her friend in the hospital, just 5hrs after arriving. I of course encouraged the decision, as I was quite worried myself. She then txt'd me that night to let me know she got home safe and her friend was doing alright.

The next day, I competed and had a blast with some of the guys I hadn't seen for awhile. On the way home, my girlfriend txt'd me a 4 txt long message saying that she's decided to end our relationship b/c the long distance was just too hard for her.

Wow. What a perfect ending to a horrible ending. I guess I can only look at it as she had her reasons, and I honestly have no choice but to accept her decision and move on. Right now, I'm just looking at my life and realizing all the friends I have around me, as that night on FB, I received messages from friends I hadn't talked to in years, hoping I was okay and doing well.

So, here's to living life, being alive, and if at all possible, eventually happy.

Take care and 'til next time,
