To the people who claim they know what the Gutter is like, but have not stepped foot in the Gutter since its reopening, please stop saying you know what the Gutter is like from experience. The Gutter today does not share much of anything with the Gutter of old. It is most definitely NOT a place to troll behind other posters' backs.

Anyway, I could paint an extremely overly poetical account about my experience in the Gutter, or the true atmosphere of the Gutter. (Hint: It is not the feeding grounds for trolls that some would have you believe.) I don't think it is necessary, though.

Why kill a whole subforum? If some members are breaking the rules, punish the members. If the members are not breaking the rules, then learn to accept them, or maybe tell them to play nice. A warning would be nice. A warning and some time to adjust would be even nicer. But to just post a notice that the Gutter is being closed, out of nowhere, seems extremely rushed and sketchy. Why punish a whole group of 200 people for absolutely nothing?

If the Gutter's atmosphere is the problem, tell me: What creates the atmosphere? Is it not the rules? The rules can be changed. There have been no attempts to change the rules in the Gutter...

And why change anything now? How has the Gutter affected anyone negatively since its reopening? Anyone? (Stop bringing up the past. The past has been settled in the past.)

Closing the Gutter punishes people like me, lurkers who enjoy watching the unique culture of the Gutter. What have I done to lose this strong attraction to the site? What has any of us done to deserve this?

tl;dr: People who have not seen the Gutter since its reopening, stop saying you know what it is like. You don't. Can we get more clarification as to why this motion is taking place over some other motion?

Is there a way to read poetry, or am I just missing something, lol? I'm not being philistine, I can appreciate good poetry, but only when someone else reads it. Maybe my mind just can't pick up on rhythm very well. Not bashing either your poems, just general thoughts about poetry.

Well, just to reassure you, I don't usually consider most of my poems "good poetry." Usually, I just flesh out a few ideas bobbing in my head and just hope that my muse will make at least one of them presentable. So feel free to bash mine lol. I didn't have a set rhythm in mind for it.

I do get what you're saying though. Hearing someone read a poem well is vastly different than reading it yourself. They really are two separate art forms.

I'll get around to reading your story when I get back from school, and I'll throw my input in as well.

Keeping it classy, I see. Cool

Seriously though, I agree with Nai. Nice work! I wish I could make my life sound half as interesting lol.

Damn the hungry internet! Sorry, Caex. I really hope your life is not plagued with any more technological problems in the foreseeable future. Slant

That is an interesting shell of a character. I would have loved to read the fleshed out version. Slant

Hmm, I would make a character, but I don't have as good idea for one as I do for a poem. So here you go:

    Caffeine Coffin

Brown sludge burns down your throat
Everyone else in the world seems slow
    Jittery legs
    Trembling palms
    The need to avoid sleep
    Keeps you going
    Keeps you awake
    Keeps you alive
Keeps you the busiest bee in the hive

    Your indulgence
    Your obsession
Your fickle crutch you rely on
Your addiction won't keep you going forever
    You'll succumb to sleep
    You are no better

    But you don't care
    You've got your fix
    You're awake for now
    As the damning clock ticks
    Your heart races in tune
    Yet you feel like laughing
    Each beat closer to death
    And your caffeine coffin

Well, I don't know how ingrained I will be with this clan. I will probably only be able to keep up my sparse posting habits that I held previously in PC, but I would love to join the clan. Smile

See ya in the archives, PC. Unless, of course, these good byes count and the clan is saved. Who doesn't love a little irony in life?

Currently addicted to Skyrim. I am sorry Fallout 3, Batman: Arkham City, and Batman: Arkham Asylum. I will not be playing any of you for a long, long time. That applies doubly so for you, Modern Warfare 3.

Best of luck to you, Sep! I hope life stops pulling you down soon.

And Cyouni, how mushy is your brain after 5 exams? Is it kinda chunky like coleslaw or really fine like applesauce? -_-

The shards of Alara have been combined so that it is now one plane (hence the Alara Reborn). The rifts have been closed on Dominaria, at least the important ones (which is what the books were based on, hence why the old walkers are basically gone except for Tefferi who is back to being a normal wizard) and I would assume that Zendikar is just a mess hence why Gideon went out to grab more walkers to see if they can fix the place. Does it really matter what is going on in Lor/Sha? I mean if your a walker from there I think it doesnt' matter what happens to your colors unless you are specifically on that plane during Morningtide/Eveningtide event.

I see what you mean though that the story of said planes is important but at this point if your curious there are plenty of places to check out what the current status of the planes and I would again assume that this is just taking place in the current timeline of said planes but we don't have to address them unless the WPL's create certain events like "Fight For Mirrodin" or "Seal the Eldrazi".

While I understand it might not apply at the moment, what I am saying is we should probably eventually specify on each plane's thread what the current state of the plane is. All it needs to be is an introductory page or paragraph detailing what the plane is and maybe a link to the wiki or something.

It is probably in the best interest of the game once it gets started. I would assume many people don't follow the storylines too closely and probably wouldn't look up the info of what happened to the planes unless it was conveniently right in front of them. Some people might not even know what Dominaria is, for example, and might be deterred from the project.

It isn't a big deal at the moment of course. We have bigger problems with balancing the combat system which should be tackled first. But I just want the problem to be acknowledged.

I would say the current storylines for each plane still apply. So yes the Guilds still exist (remember they weren't destroyed they just aren't tied to treaty anymore), Mirrodin is now known as New Phyrexia, and the Eldrazi are released on Zendikar but are trapped there.

And the rifts, shards, and Lorwyn-Shadowmoor?

The rifts could probably stay closed, but them remaining open allows for so much more opportunities for quests, you know? People would be looking for a way to eliminate some headaches coming out from the rifts. Otherwise many of the creatures from Time Spiral make little to no sense to encounter on Dominaria at the moment. Chronozoa or Riftwing Cloudskate for example. I guess we could take a hit there, though.

Whatever happened to Alara anyway? Did the shards combine to become one star shaped continent and travelling past the borderposts brings you into a different nation? What does the sky look like anyway? Esper's sky is extremely different than bant's which is extremely different from jund's.

I guess the Lorwyn-Shadowmoor thing changing with the night and day cycles is fine, but what about its inhabitants? Are merfolk just continually the savage beasts from shadowmoor? Are the elves white or black? And the other tribes?

    These things need elaboration.

Flavorwise, what are the current state of the planes? Are the guilds still around on Ravnica? Are there still isolated locations of time rifts on Dominaria? Does Lorwyn change to Shadowmoor regularly now? Is Alara still split into shards? Were the Eldrazi released yet?
These things should probably be described in each plane's respective threads to give people an idea of what is going on where. The project is set in an alternate reality from canon, so we probably need to specify these things somewhat...

While I don't actually have a character in the RPG, one thing I've noticed while RPing as NPCs is that being able to cast any spell with a mana cost equal to or less than the amount of mana in your mana pool as soon as a fight starts happens a lot, and it seems a bit unfair to me. You really don't have much of a reason to want to cast spells that cost less and do less, especially if they're creatures, but I'm not sure how we could fix this.

Does anyone else feel the same way, and if so, do you have any ideas how we could make casting spells more fair?

Perhaps we should start at half the mana in our mana pool? That way you could still cast a big spell in the beginning but you'd set yourself up for your opponent's removal quickly and they would be ahead in mana.

EDIT: The cut off idea works too, but how would that work flavorfully?
