Do you guys actually end up going for one of either Jin or C. Sphinx depending on the game, or do you usually go for the same one? They kind of seem overly redundant to me, in theory at least.

Thanks for the response. I haven't had much of a chance to play my deck and it's honestly quite a ways ahead of the curve in my group so I might not even play it much, but it's fun to build/tweak. I play with some friends down in Tacoma mostly, though one of our shops should have a better EDH community soon I hope.

Cool deck. Read through the first and the last page. I'm putting together a similar Dralnu reanimator list (although excluding infinites for now) and had a couple of questions.

I like the Pestilence Demon, will have to consider it as an alternative to Toxic Deluge / Damnation.

    1. Body Double seems like a great way to guarantee what you get what you want when you are choosing Intuition piles, I'm sure you've tried it - what do you think?
    2. Have you considered Lion's Eye Diamond? Great with Yawgmoth's Will but it is definitely quite "all in".
    3. Why BoP over something like Chrome Mox, etc.? Seems too fragile and slow.
    4. Do you think Voidslime is better over something more mana-efficient like Stifle?
    5. Would Sunder be a good game-finisher after you've reanimated something big? Or does T-don pretty much do the same anyway?
    6. Windfall worth thinking about?
    7. Is Buried Alive too slow or do your games last long enough that it's good? Seems like you run up against some pretty competitive lists!
    8. No Treasure Cruise yet?
    9. Liliana of the Veil for both problematic opponent's reanimation targets + a discard outlet?

Cool list man, will likely read through most of the rest of it later when I have some more time! PS where do you play EDH in Seattle?

    Lion's Eye Diamond

There hasn't been much discussion (at least a thread devoted to) discussing LED since it was unbanned. Has anyone ran it outside of ramping Skittles out? Anyone had success with it after a Yawgmoth's Will? Curious if people are playing it at all.

Yeah, I don't think Force/Tinker/Wasteland/Sinkhole would be that spectacular in my cube either, but I may give them a shot just because of their iconic-ness, and take them out of the underperform. Right now I have Skullclamp in my cube and it's really good for sure, but I'm not sure that it's been an absolute problem. Sol Ring definitely seems busted and I will likely keep it out, it's just two one-sided if you draw it early on. The same thing might apply to Ancient Tomb? Although at least you're taking damage in trade, so it might be on the border. Demo Tutor and Recruiter don't seem all that amazing, just added utility - it's not like you're tutoring up Yawgmoth's Will for the win, though if you do have one of those "win con" type cards (Capsize & Sprout Swarm have been as close to wincons as anything in my list I think), Demo Tutor might prove to make decks a little too consistent, then again you have to be in those colors.

What are people's opinions on some of the "power" commons and uncommons from the days of yore, like the ones below? Are some of the fine and some of them just too good? I can see Sol Ring being a big no-no. Skullclamp too? I'm tweaking my ~420 card list and going over to see what I've missed or might want to add at some point.

I was talking about going a step further and Rotisserie-ing the entire Cube (and the rest of my sleeved EDH stuff which is designed to cover almost every card that's even corner-case viable).

I like the idea but I don't think that's something I'd really want to participate in. Would take maybe 6-8 hours to draft decks?

You'd just do it over the course of the week on a shared Google doc. Have done this with my cube before (though not EDH decks, just regular decks). It's not too bad if everyone has internet access throughout the day.

I've been waiting for something like the green font for a long time now. I'm thrilled to finally get it.

Diligent Farmhand would like to have a word with you!

Farmhand doesn't trigger enchantress draws, come back with Replenish, buff up Ancestral Mask, etc. Ramp is easy to find to find. Decent ramp on enchantments is a little rarer.

That's true, Farmhand is close but they both serve quite different strategies.

How can it be complained about if it goes on the banlist almost immediately? *sniff*

90% of the good interactions with this guy involve Homeward Path. It's a little awkward to actually execute many of the others, as you can't play your pieces if the Chimera's already out and under someone else's control. I play Zedruu and wouldn't consider this guy, just because I like it when I actually get the cards I play. It's good when you run a lot of global effects or expect your opponents' decks to be better than yours.

I just stuck him into my Zedruu deck to try him out, but I fear that you'll be right. I had Act of Authority in there for a while because it seemed perfect for Zedruu, but it too would have then came back to eat my Sunforger or Solitary Confinement. At least it can just take out one thing and sit on your side unless you see a reason to have it hit something else; the Chimera isn't that lucky. I'll still probably try it out for myself though.

  • posted a message on [[Official]] Modern Prices Discussion
From my limited perusing of the last few pages of this thread, I feel like damagecase has a similar view to mine. In very simplified terms, I expect Wizards to do more of the same that they have been doing. I don't think all the expensive non-land staples are ever all of a sudden going to drop in price ala mass printing of money cards. A few here and there will get released via Standard product or promotional product (which often doesn't sink the value that much), or perhaps another Modern Masters. It's just nearly impossible to keep all the expensive staples "affordable." You reprint one and two more pop up after a powerful card rotates out of Standard, etc. Having no Reserved list helps, but won't ever make Modern a budget-friendly format.

I think the single largest thing that Wizards can and will do is reprint fetchlands in a large set. I don't know if this will be all 10 at a time and I don't expect it to be any time in the immediate future, but I think that's the way they can have the most impact on reducing the entry level into Modern.

I know it's not a core strategy of yours but Worthy Cause is an all star in Child of Alara decks, especially when opponents run a lot of Wasteland/Strip Mine effects to hit your High Market, etc. Anyway, just wanted to suggest it, did a quick search in the thread and didn't see it.

I'm building a mono green deck and I'm wondering how you guys would turn late-ish game dead creature draws into something more useful. Survival of the Fittest comes to mind, but I wonder what other ideas you guys have. I know I could just not play those kind of creatures, but the deck is a little theme-ish so I'm sacrificing some power to play them.

How Hoof and Prophet managed to skirt past that one is beyond me. While Sylvan Primordial can nuke lands, I have never seen it be responsible for killing the table or becoming an extremely oppressive card like Hoof and Prophet do respectively. I'll go along with the change, but I don't agree with it.

    What is Hoof?
