and based on your ability to break it, give it a fair casting cost
Change the Cosmological Constants - ? Instant
Replace one word on target spell or permanent with any other word. (This cannot create an illegal card or game state or otherwise do anything that cannot be governed by the rules of Magic. You cannot replace numbers unless they are already in word form. You may replace a word with nothing.)
Devour to Bone 2BB
Sorcery
Wither (This deals damage to creatures in the form of -1/-1 counters.)
Devour to Bone deals 3 damage to target creature and you gain 3 life.
slight functional difference -- your card can have the damage prevented (fewer -1/-1 counters)
Exciting Preview XRR
Sorcery
You may reveal an instant or sorcery card with converted mana cost X or less from your hand. If you do, cast a copy of it without paying its mana cost. (You still need to pay other costs, if any.)
I'm pretty sure this allows you to cast spells like Hypergenesis for RR
Plots Within Plots 3BB
Enchantment [R]
At the beginning of your upkeep, discard a card. If you discard a creature card this way, return it from your graveyard to the battlefield unless any player pays 5 life.
am I the only one who thinks this is absurdly powerful?
FIVE life? or I get to, essentially, summon a creature for free?
sure, there's no guarantee the card I discard is a creature or that it is a BIG creature, but come on. I'm not stupid. I'm going to build my deck with this card and loads of angels and demons. there's not even any color restriction. I can reanimate the largest red dragon.
Turn one -- play an awesome one drop (Goblin Lackey, maybe)
Turn two -- attack, play Feral Screams on their turn
they probably miss out on a chance to deal with your Lackey
and you get to filter a card
Turn three -- attack unimpeded again
you're buying yourself an extra combat phase and increasing your card quality.
Hello,
After looking around at all of the custom created cards i wanted to undertake my own personally. Well, the first set I wanted to do was some B/G Spiders, and I was trying to think of an appropriate mechanic for them beyond Reach or even Poison so I was thinking along the lines of:
Web X ( When this creature enters the battlefield you may distribute X web counters onto any creature permanents. Creatures with web counters on them cannot attack or use activated abilities. Remove web counters during the controllers upkeep if the power of the creature is greater then 5. )
Any thoughts? Help is greatly appreciated.
is your intent that any webbed creature with power 5 or less never gets unwebbed? that's ... pretty powerful, yeah? how many creatures are that big (that you would play)?
Just some designs I created tonight to try and get ready for the July MCC.
Inspired by the constant attempts to create a "fixed Mox," I think I created a fairly elegant version of it.
Mox Quartz0
Artifact (M)
Mox Quartz enters the battlefield tapped.
Mox Quartz doesn’t untap during your untap step. T: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.
A fun card designed for players who really like cards that make them think how to use them to their fullest.
Pensive Depths
Land (R) T: Add 1 to your mana pool. T: Return target spell you control to its owner's hand.
An uncommon to mess with the idea of Overrun on a single creature.
Sunrise Coronation3WG
Sorcery (U)
Convoke
Target creature gets +X/+X and trample, where X is equal to the total power of all creatures you control.
Something for the multiplayer and EDH fanatics who love politics.
Relieve of DutyW
Instant (C)
The next time a creature would be destroyed this turn, you may sacrifice another creature you control instead.
All opinions are very much appreciated.
as others have said, Mox Quartz does ZERO by itself. an absolute dead card and Wizards doesn't like printing those (except One with Nothing)
Pensive Depths destroys the game. I cast a giant creature. oh, you counter it? I'll just return the spell to my hand and you wasted a counterspell. or -- I lightning bolt your creature. oh, you cast Regenerate it so it survives? I'll just return my lightning bolt. you wasted a card and I'll bolt it next turn.
and the worst part is -- Pensive Depths is a land, so there are very few ways to deal with it. AND it taps for mana without any drawbacks.
Diametric Strategy 1UU
ENCHANTMENT (R)
If a player would draw a card, that player puts the bottom card of his or her library into his or her hand instead.
A cycle of cavalry charges
Confused Charge 2RR
Instant
Until end of turn, each attacking creature deals combat damage to each other attacking creatures.
this is how I understand it:
I attack with a 1/1, a 2/2, and a 3/3
the 1/1 deals 1 damage to the 2/2 and the 3/3
the 2/2 deals 2 damage to the 1/1 and the 3/3
the 3/3 deals 3 damage to the 1/1 and the 2/2
basically, everything gets dealt a bunch of damage.
Willpower slime 3UU
Creature - ooze
Flash.
When willpower slime enters the battlefield chose two - draw a card, willpower slime gains +3/+0 until end of turn, tap target creature, counter target non-creature spell.
2/2
hmm -- five mana to counter a spell, draw a card, and get a free 2/2? compared to Dismiss, I think it's fair.
Pack Leader4GG
Creature - Wolf
Other Wolf creatures on the battlefield gain +1/+1
Whenever Pack Leader attacks, at the end of the combat phase, untap all other wolf creatures. Take another Combat phase after this one.
5/5
what happens when you attack with two of these? infinite combat phases? what happens when you attack with this and have Reconnaissance out? Attack, untap, repeat?
Fumiko the Lowblood replace bushido with annihilator
Banishing Stroke replace miracle with replicate
slight functional difference -- your card can have the damage prevented (fewer -1/-1 counters)
Phyrexian Altar + this = infinite creatures. add some ETB trigger like Soul Warden
I'm pretty sure this allows you to cast spells like Hypergenesis for RR
Enchantment
Fading 3
Creatures get -0/-1 for each fade counter on Frail Song.

pair with cards like Time Ebb
this is how I understand it:
I attack with a 1/1, a 2/2, and a 3/3

the 2/2 deals 2 damage to the 1/1 and the 3/3

I mean, it is an ability ... and it targets?
hmm -- five mana to counter a spell, draw a card, and get a free 2/2? compared to Dismiss, I think it's fair.

only significant difference is Armageddon Clock has a way to remove charge counters.
what happens when you attack with two of these? infinite combat phases? what happens when you attack with this and have Reconnaissance out? Attack, untap, repeat?
