That's what I didn't understand...my spells were still on the screen/stack pending deployment when he cast his spells. I did not have anything special on the board to prevent them from working. I just cast each of my spells to eat up his counterspells.
Two turns in a row, he used counterspells from the graveyard, but they both failed. The first was "counter target spell if opponent doesn't pay 3". I was tapped out, but the spell instantly failed.
The second was "counter target non-creature spell", which also failed.

I played Minimus Containment on an opponent's Borrowed Time. I did not know if this was going to work. It did not.
This did not return my exiled creature to the board, which may be understandable(?)...except that after my opponent sacrificed his Borrowed Time as a Treasure Token my creature was returned into play.
If Minimus Containment causes Borrowed Time to lose all of it's abilities, I would think that either: 1. the exiled creature would be immediately returned into play; or 2. The exiled creature is forever lost in exile.
Once Borrowed Time loses it's abilities, shouldn't the creature detach from it and go...somewhere?
I just started playing about a month ago and participated in a few Crimson Vow Quick Drafts.
I am thinking about spending $99 to get gems so I can do additional Quick Drafts and work towards completing collections.
However, the Crimson Vow Quick Draft ends tomorrow and an Alchemy Quick Draft takes it's place. I don't care for Alchemy.
What sets are possible for Quick Draft for the next rotation? I mean, would the next set be from those sets that have been added to the Standard rotation this year (Capenna, Kamigawa, Vow, Hunt)? Is it possible that they bring Vow back again?
Thank you for your reply. I guess I failed to mention that I am specifically wondering about Standard...and also just "casual" gameplay mode best-of-one. There are extremely few options for cards to wipe the board and it's not particularly practical to run them in my main deck.
How do you stop Scute Swarms when they come out if the opponent already has six lands? Sure, the easy answer is to have a creature destruction spell in hand and the mana to use it when that happens, but what about the times that you don't?
I was playing a "Phantom Bot Draft" and would have likely won in two turns, except that (I guess) he played a card that said "Return all...xxxx". The animation was so quick that I didn't see what card it was and was not able to read the rest of the text, but the card immediately returned five creatures from his graveyard. I spent two time extensions trying to find the card, but it was not in the graveyard.
It just occurred to me that it was probably exiled after use, but what card is this?
Edit: I attempted several times to upload two images (of the board and the graveyard cards), but for some reason they are not uploading.
Sorry, I wasn't clear...my opponent had an additional Spirit of the Aldergard that was 12/5. After it dealt the Trample damage, it died. So the Gnarlid Colony was what gave it Trample. I didn't see that, thank you.
In the attached image, I was playing MTG Arena Alchemy. I haven't played MTG in some time, but I cannot figure out how one of the opponent's creatures gained Trample.
He had just laid a land (it was the only card in his hand after the draw), then he attacked with a Spirit of the Aldergard with stats of 12/5. He had a Master Symmetrist in play, which gives Trample to creatures with equal power and toughness. I blocked with a 5/5 creature and the opponent's creature killed mine and did seven damage to me. After this occurred, I careful scanned each card to see what I had missed, but nothing should have given the creature trample.

On another topic, isn't this card severely imbalanced, especially for draft?
