I personally hate once per turn clauses. If it were me, I'd make Adalon's ability a tap ability and make the tokens better. Something like...

    Adalon, Death’s Warden 2WBG
Legendary Creature – Spirit Knight (M)
When Adalon enters the battlefield, put two 1/1 white and black Spirit tokens with flying onto the battlefield.
Whenever a non-token creature dies, put a 1/1 white and black Spirit token with flying onto the battlefield.
Exile X Spirits you control , t : Return target creature card with converted mana cost X from a graveyard to the battlefield.
    4/3

The reason I'm trying to stray away from using shared types (in this case, spirits) is that it you can circumvent his "limitations" by bringing in other spirits and/or spirit tokens. Using a unique creature type (or changelings) would limit him and would force you to work harder for him to go off. Adding a T is a nice workaround to avoid solid abuse. thanks for that suggestion.

While I think that legendary double face cards should be doable (even though there are some strange rules involved) I don't like this specific card. I don't understand the flavor of it and can't think of any good reason why a small plains loving white girl would some how come back after death as a huge scary poisonous monster. It feels entirely too forced to me. In addition, It seems like a very bad card as it requires your opponent to play along and block it for you to get the full value out of the creature...

So lets take this back to the drawing board and talk about the things we want out of this card.
    1. Should be a legendary creature DFC.
    2. Should be BGW, the black wedge.
    3. Should be a creature your opponents don't want to kill.
    4. Should be flavorful.

Since this is in the black wedge, this creatures day side should either be B (in which case the night side is :symgw:) or (W/G) mana (in which case the night side should be B)

With this in mind, how do you feel about making a cat(a green white creature type) that becomes a black zombie as you use up its lives...

Linara, Boon of the Plains 2GW
    Legendary Creature - Cat
    trmaple , lifelink
When ~ dies, return it to the battlefield transformed under your control at the beginning of your next end step with 8 life counters on it.
It has all its lives ahead of it...
    3/3
    --------------------------------------
    ~~
B Legendary Creature - Cat Zombie
    Remove a life counter from ~~ : regenerate ~~.
    [Insert appropriately cool ability here]
    1/1

This is as flavorful a cat as I can make. Tack on some interesting abilities to actually make it worth using and this could be a really cool card.

Hahahaha! That's a really cool version. I like it. Well one, thing I want her to be is THE junk voltron general so it has to have something along the lines of voltron. It also has to be strong enough to force your opponents had and kill it to force you to keep using its regenerate ability.

So what would be the appropriately cool ability?

    - Whenever ~ attacks, other creatures get -x/-x where x is ~'s power.
    or
    - Deathtouch, Lifelink

If your intent was to allow the cards to get "hand cast" bonuses, I wouldn't go down that road. For one thing, I'm not sure it would actually work within the rules. For another thing, it kind of defeats the point of those abilities.

Reading over him again though, I'm not sure if he gives you a big enough bonus for exiling cards. I guess they're protected from discard? I still like the design, but maybe he needs some incentive to tuck the cards away. Maybe he could get +1/+1 for each card exiled? That would certainly help with the green aspect.

Hmmm I want it to work like how Future Sight has the "as though it were from your hand" clause but apparently it's getting reprinted in Jace vs Vraska and they removed that clause. I guess it already goes without saying.

Here are a couple of options to make him more green:
    - Atros gets +1/+1 for each card exiled under him
    - He can have a */* PT and it gets +1/+1 for each card exiled under him.
    - UBGT: Put a X/X green ooze token into play where X is the number of cards exiled under Atros.

    Quote from Shadowfate

Is that really what you want to be using him with? Maybe as a byproduct, but when I read him I immediately thought: Infinite sacrifices with 0 or 1 cmc creatures. 1 cmc creature get infinite sacs with whatever the effect is (Phyrexian Altar, Blood Pet, etc). A 0 cmc creature + sac outlet will get the sacrifice effect, infinite wisps, and by extension of that infinite reanimation of anything in your graveyard. I wouldn't even bother with Wood Elves when I could use the much superior Sakura-Tribe Elder. Wood elves needs to somehow get killed. STE needs nothing. And he can be reanimated more than once right off the bat. 2 times if he started in the graveyard, 3 times if you wait until Adalon is down to sacrifice him.

I was actually thinking of slapping him with a "You can only use this ability once per turn" clause to prevent that from happening. Note that it's once a turn unlike Karador, Ghost Chieftain's "only during your turn" clause.

    Hi!

First off, I'm a huge fan of your Archester set. I've been looking at that for a long time now and I must say that the amount of work you put in amazing. Mad props to you on that.

    Anyway, on to business.

    Adalon, Death’s Warden 2WBG
Legendary Creature – Spirit Knight (M)
When Adalon enters the battlefield, put three 0/1 black Wisp tokens onto the battlefield.
Whenever a non-token creature dies, put a 0/1 black Wisp token onto the battlefield.
Exile X Wisps you control: Return target creature card with converted mana cost X from a graveyard to the battlefield.
When Adalon leaves the battlefield, exile all Wisps you control.
    4/3

    - Actually, the reasoning behind using black wisps was a throwback to Will-o'-the-Wisp. That plus adding another type of spirit would just clog the amount of spirits running around. Also, the reason I didn't feel the need to the "or less" for its ability because it would be pretty unintuitive because you already know the cmc of what you're getting so requiring an exact X amount would be more streamlined. Since they will mainly be used for EDH, I felt a bit of power creep would be in order. He's not THAT broken since it actually takes a bit work to reanimate stuff you actually want like Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite or Karmic Guide. Perhaps two wisps instead of 3 would be more balanced? Although personally, 3 wisps is the right amount. Hello Wood Elves!

    Vyaxia, Aspect of Intellect 3WUR
Legendary Creature – Elemental Wizard (M)
    Flying
At the beginning of your upkeep, choose one – Draw a card; or Vyaxia deals damage to target player equal to the number of cards in that player's hand; or gain 1 life for each card in each player’s hand.
    4/5

    - Ah yes, America the great - the most mana hungry wedge of all. The reason why I upped the power level of this higher than normal is that it takes a whole turn for your opponents to deal with her before you can get any use out of her. Consecrated Sphinx I feel is more broken than her since you already get value the moment you draw two off the opponent. I fixed her a bit so that you can only sudden impact one player and reduced the card draw from two to one.

Tetrax of the Crimson Heavens 3WBRR
    Legendary Creature – Angel (M)
    Flying, Vigilance
When Tetrax enters the battlefield, it deals 2 damage to each creature. When a creature dealt damage this way dies this turn, put a +1/+1 counter on Tetrax.
Pay 7 life: Return Tetrax from your graveyard to the battlefield.
    3/4

    - Thanks to Derevi, Empyrial Tactician, we can now explore alternate cost generals... except that Derevi was broken as hell. I like Tetrax a lot because it forces you to decide where to keep her. Keeping her dead gives you that instant speed insurance against swarm decks but at a very steep price. And since 2/3 of the wedge is reanimator colors, you won't have that hard a time to get her back in case she does get stuck in the graveyard.

    Atros, Keeper of Nightmares 1UBG
    Legendary Creature – Horror
During your upkeep, if Atros is in your command zone, exile a card face down from your hand. These cards remain exiled by Atros as it moves to any zone other than a player's hand or library. You may look at the cards any time.
You may play cards exiled by Atros. as though it were from your hand.
    3/2

    - Not much to say here. I'm very proud of this design as well and your fixes pretty much cemented this guy solid. One question though: Should we keep the "as though it were from your hand" clause for cards that have added effects when cast from the hand or is that a given already?

    Marius, Blight’s Vessel 2BG
Legendary Creature – Human Shaman (M)
BG, Pay 3 life, Sacrifice Marius: Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a creature card. Put that card onto the battlefield. It is a Demon in addition to its other types. Put the other revealed cards on the bottom of your library in a random order.
    1/1

    - Locked down as well. Since he is the in the color of monsters, it wouldn't be hard to have fun with this guy's abilities.

Linara, Boon of the Plains 1WW
Legendary Creature – Human Warrior Cleric (M)
    Lifelink
When Linara dies, if it was dealt combat damage this turn, return it to the battlefield transformed under your control at the beginning of the next end step.
    2/2
    ***
    Linara, Bane of the Woods
    (B/G) Legendary Creature – Avatar
    Lifelink, Deathtouch, Hexproof
    6/6

    - Totally forgot front-half's P/T. She's supposed to be 2/2. I love how she's the creature you don't want to kill. You're right about the werewolf part though. What could be a better creature type for her? Avatar? Horror? Avatar could be good.

Let's keep with them for now. Elaris and Phega are going back to the drawing board. Thanks for the feedback! I'll post some new cards in a bit as work is getting the better of me tonight.

Since they absolutely have no chance of seeing standard play, I'm going to put these in an EDH point of view.

I absolutely love wedge cycles but I feel that having access to your general any time you could play an instant for an alternate cost is backbreaking despite a huge cost (see derevii)

Maybe if you put a clause that says that it can only be played anytime you could play a sorcery, it would balance these bad boys out.

    Hi!

Been playing for around 14 years now and seriously got into EDH around 4 years ago. I love the game but sometimes the lack of choices for a general especially in combinations such as Dega (RWB) and BUG can leave little to be desired. So my playgroup and I got together and drafted some new ones to not only breathe life into the our group but to also exercise our card-creating muscles.

Here I am presenting these to you so we can further refine and tune them.

    Adalon, Death’s Warden 2WBG
Legendary Creature – Spirit Knight (M)
When Adalon enters the battlefield, put three 0/1 black Wisp tokens into play.
Whenever a non-token creature dies, put a 0/1 black Wisp token into play.
Exile X Wisps: Return target creature card with converted mana cost of X from any graveyard into play under your control.
When Adalon leaves play, exile all Wisps you control.
    4/3

    Vyaxia, Aspect of Intellect 3WUR
Legendary Creature – Elemental Wizard (M)
    Flying
During your upkeep, choose one – Draw 2 cards; or Vyaxia deals damage to each player equal to the number of cards in their hand; or gain life for each card in each player’s hand.
    4/5

Tetrax of the Crimson Heavens 3WBRR
    Legendary Creature – Angel (M)
    Flying, Vigilance
When Tetrax enters the battlefield, it deals 2 damage to each creature. Put X +1/+1 counters on Tetrax where X is the number of creatures that died this way.
Pay 7 life: Return Tetrax from your graveyard into play.
    3/4

    Atros, Keeper of Nightmares 1UBG
    Legendary Creature – Horror
During your upkeep, if Atros is in your command zone, exile a card face down from your hand under him (You may look at the cards any time).
You may play cards exiled by Atros as though it were from your hand.
    3/2

    Marius, Blight’s Vessel 2BG
Legendary Creature – Human Shaman (M)
BG, Pay 3 life, Sacrifice Marius: Reveal the top card of your library until you reveal a creature card. Put that creature into play. It’s a demon in addition to its other types. Cards revealed this way on the bottom of your library in any order.
    1/1

Linara, Boon of the Plains 1WW
Legendary Creature – Human Warrior Cleric (M)
    Lifelink
When Linara dies from combat damage, return it into play at the end of turn transformed.
    **
Linara, Bane of the Woods BG
    Legendary Creature – Werewolf
    Lifelink, Deathtouch, Hexproof
    6/6

    Elaris, Defiler of Odds 4WUB
    Legendary Creature – Sphinx (M)
    Flying
You can’t cast Elaris if you’ve played a spell this turn.
When you cast Elaris, target opponent takes two turns after this one.
Whenever you cast a spell a spell on your turn, sacrifice Elaris.
At the beginning of your turn, you win the game.
“And to you, the best of luck.”
    5/5

    Phega, The Blazing Sun 2WWRR
    Legendary Creature – Dragon (M)
    Flying, Haste
Whenever Phega attacks, put two 1/1 red Dragon tokens with flying into play tapped and attacking.
Whenever a source controlled by an opponent deals damage to you, Phega deals that damage to that source’s controller instead.

"You don't like that knife that my friend gave you? Don't worry I have another one for you."

    Comments?

I like how it's like a reverse heroic trigger but it could be confusing. How about "Whenever one or more permanents an opponent controls is targeted by a spell an opponent controls, Woundbringer Maniac deals 1 damage to each opponent."?

    Anywho

My EDH playgroup and I got a bit tired of existing legends so we huddled together and came up with our own for use in our own playgroup. Here's one that I am quite proud of.

When Adalon leaves play, exile all Wisps you control.

they both have their merits. They're both abusable but for 7cmc, Sepulchral Primordial NEEDS to have more than 1 target to make its way into value town.

As the game goes deeper in a vacuum scenario, I'd rather have the Primordial. However, the low cmc and higher combo potential makes clique that much better choice.

Sepulchral Primordial vs Sheoldred on the other hand... now that's a good fight.

This is my thought as well, although you're starting to move towards the higher end of the deck's curve. I'd also lose the guildgates. I abhor lands that CIPT, and you'd probably be better off with basics and running some 2cmc ramp like Nature's Lore (which can find a nonbasic) or even Rampant Growth.

All in all, the deck looks really good, and I'm sure it'll work well.

Yeah the guildgates have been on the chopping block for a while but they ensure a turn 3 doran MOST of the time.

Anyway, I've been playing Karador for too long, I haven't had a balls out aggro general. Is turn 3 really the optimal turn to crank him out? Won't that turn the table against you?

So I just got Static Orb and Loxodon Gatekeeper to keep the deck's theme of stymieing other decks while Doran goes in for the kill. What should I take out for these two? I know Static Orb deserves at least a consideration. I'm not so sure about the Gatekeeper.

    EDIT:
Anyway, I took out the Viscera Seer and Maelstrom Pulse for Static Orband Loxodon Gatekeeper. Also gone are Scavenging Ooze and Intrepid Hero for Gaddock Teeg and Elixir of Immortality.

Taking off from cryogen's idea, I decided to make a Doran deck with tons of MLD and efficient creatures. Combine that with equipment and the ever-powerful Torpor Orb, games get real crazy real quick.

    - The theory is that the deck runs solid efficient creatures that works around TORPOR ORB. Of course there are cards like Sun Titan, Aura Shards and Eternal Witness that are just too good to be used despite having Torpor Orb in the deck.

    - Angelic Skirmisher looks good on paper since I haven't had the chance to draw it yet and is a strict upgrade to Oathsworn Giant I think. Vigilance on your turn and keep choosing first strike for everyone else's turn.

    - I may need more recursion like Genesis and Elixir or Immortality since this deck has practically no ultra-late game play.

Now, the problems I'm facing are:

    1. I may have a low creature count
    2. Not much protection i.e. Spike Weaver, or the like
    3. As tempting as it is to take the Stax route, I don't want to since I want to be low-profile which is kind of counter intuitive since Doran could swing out of the gates by turn 3 or 4.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, but Harmonic Sliver just feels out of place. It can backfire if you're facing an actual sliver deck, or just someone who uses changelings for some reason. (As long as Harmonic's out, every sliver = instant card advantage.)

The fun part is, the cards I mentioned are good enough on their own, but get better with Doran. (Remember, a two-mana cantrip is just deck-thinning, and they can be recurred with Sun Titan or what have you for genuine card advantage.)

Another one for Doran is, as I mentioned, Meekstone. Power doesn't matter to you, so you're going to have a lot of creatures with power < 3. Your opponents, though...

Finally, you'll want tutors. You're in the right colors for Eladamri's Call, Natural Order (which can be quite expensive), and all of black's universal tutors.

Meekstone's okay. It's just like Torpor Orb, I'll have to work my creature base around these two all-stars. I'll think about Harmonic Sliver because you make a very valid point.

    Couple of notes:

    - I'm still not sold on using low power dudes to fully abuse Doran's ability because with Doran out, you just have really underwhelming dudes.
    - Intrepid hero is surprisingly efficient and leaves my spot removal for those emergency situations.
    - I may want to make room for Winter Orb and Torpor Orb. <3
