The ability Persist (such as on Aerie Ouphes) reads as follows: When this creature dies, if it had no -1/-1 counters on it, return it to the battlefield under its owner's control with a -1/-1 counter on it.
Now, correct me if I'm wrong (as that's the purpose of this thread), but since both of these abilities trigger off of the same action, the creature dying, and you control both triggers, couldn't you theoretically stack them like so...?
1. Aerie Ouphes dies.
2. Persist and Death's Presence both trigger.
3. Since you control both triggers, stack them so that Persist is on top of the stack.
4. Persist resolves, returning the Ouphes to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter. Presence trigger is still on the stack.
5. Presence trigger resolves, and you put 3 +1/+1 counters on your freshly returned Ouphes.
As far as my knowledge goes, this makes sense (and is a pretty cool combo), but for the life of me I have not been able to find a ruling that confirms that it works. So, uh... does it?
I have most of the big money cards, but I love this idea so so so so so so much. One thing though, what kinda stuff will be in the common slots. Some of the uncommons I get, I.e Path to Exile,Kitchen Finks you all catch my drift.... Any ideas?
