Hey guys! ISO someone with an old Duelist collection who could help me out with info
If anyone has a collection of duelist, I’m trying to find one particular one, maybe 2. I’ll be posting this around Reddit to see if I can find any info. I’m not sure when but it’s either late 1998 or early 1999, there was a nationwide essay contest in Duelist magazine. The grand prize winner won a round trip flight to Magic Camp in Seattle, free box of boosters, stay at the Washington State campus, play magic and video games at the WotC Game Center for a full week. Etc etc.
If ya haven’t already guessed, I won that contest, grand prize. Included with my essay, I used one of the blank gold bordered cards and made a blue sorcery 2UU Hypnotize Sorcery “Hypnotize target judge to make this essay win” and they loved it lol.
Urza’s Destiny had just come out so everyone requested those packs for their 36 packs so I definitely went in the early summer of 1999. So I’m assuming the contest was either late 1998/early 1999 and the winners announced soon after that. If anyone has an old collection of duelists or help me/point me in the direction where I can pinpoint the issues where the contest was announced and the issue where they were announced, that would be amazingness. Thank you everyone From what scans are online, I’ve seen Jan/Feb/March/Dec 1998. But sadly that’s all I could find
