At the beginning of your first main phase, you may return target creature or artifact card with converted mana cost 3 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield. If you do, add X white mana to
If this comes to a tie-breaker or near one, I'll just say I regret choosing 5 as an option. If my vote could be removed from the count if it comes close (which it is now) I would thank you.
Sorry for the trouble.
I agree this is in fact a drawback to be built around. 4 CMC would be nice. 3 CMC interesting, and in my opinion, not as broken as would seem at first glance.
5 max I think. Creatures are a pushed type in Magic these days, and this card loves creatures, and is one itself. More and it would seem unplayable, though I admit I'd have to playtest to put a price on this. It's a most unique ability. Anyone care to report a mock game session? I don't have the time to proxy and test this in the coming week, but it seems important for something we have no grasp of.
I don't think we need go any further than this. This pic plus the ability flavor has me in the mind of something like the monolith from 2001.
Even the background looks Time-Spiralish, I'll give you that. But, is it creature enough? I think this is a bit too vague to be a creature. I can see it that way, but I don't think the general MtG public will. This would make sense as a sort of semi sentient sci-fi creature thing from space, but in the Magic the Gathering universe this seems more like art for an artifact than an artifact creature.
A tie... another poll, then?
In the meanwhile we might want to start suggesting names/art/flavor text or whatever is next?
And as for this poll, I'll just restate that I believe this card's current ability carries its own weight and does not need more added to it. Complexity on this card would grow uncontrollably if we add the second ability. Too much stuff to balance for too many formats. And even if we do pull off this complex design well (which will be difficult within the constraints of the wonderfully democratic YMTC), the gain would be a card that to my view is less concise and clean than the version we have now.
Just to put this out there, I would actually like to see the card with no added ability. The one we already voted on pulls its own weight. Keeping a design clean is hard, but usually better. There will be an option for "No second ability" on the new poll right?
This makes sense to me.

This is awesome as is.
