One of the biggest contrasts to me is to lay it all out and compare the old to new boarders. It's really interesting that there really aren't that many old border creatures left in, but still plenty of old boarder spells. Power creep is real.
That is true as I'm going through this new proxy Cube that I'm making I have noticed way more new bordered cards in general not just creatures I would say but overall I still see a lot of the old fogies pop up now and then but for the most part I think it's fair to say
This ain't your Papa's Cube anymore LOL
Sorry for the double post moderators I can't seem to find the multi quote option on mobile
They've printed enough 2-power 1-drops that there are good ones that I don't even have to play anymore. For those playing in the 2007-2010 era, you'll remember how dire the competition was for those kinds of creatures, especially in black. I wasn't sure if I'd ever see this kind of saturation.
That's a good one I remember struggling to have real aggro decks back in the day because I had at least 22 to 24 people drafting my Cube at the local game shop well let's be honest they were drafting your Cube with more cards added to account for everybody LOL but it was mid-range Jank all over the place.
Do you think we are at a point where control decks are going to suffer as much as aggro decks in the smaller Cube design?
So I'm in the process of making some iron on decals for these cloth boosters my wife is sewing for me. I'm trying to find all of the artwork in magic that depicts a cube.
So far I've only found:
I love putting all the standard dual color ones in such as shocks felch original duals I absolutely love the Vivid lands I think the hate it's gotten over the years for enabling five color control decks is overrated because I really think it depends on your meta. In the last I would say 6 years of having a cube with the Vivid lands I have not really seen five color control Step Up and that's playing with all sorts of people at the local game shops and holding tournaments with the cube.
cubes have gotten a lot of great cards if gilded Drake and be pushed into 540 and greater. 😀 sad to see great cards go down but it also means that Wizards of the Coast has been good to this format over the last 10 years
if you're talking about with rares and everything it's certainly possible I would probably start with one of your standard 360 unpowered cubes you see here put the Cards into tcgplayers Mass entry form and then start picking off cards that are way too expensive or try and bring the budget down to something reasonable otherwise like I told a lot of people go with an all comments Cube you can get the whole Cube for definitely under $100 and it feels just like limited or any other Cube really
I think instead of axing one of the best green cards there ever has been you might want to start drafting a much larger Cube to get maybe more variety it's a great card but I've never seen it take over games it might let people get a amazing head start but it dies to removal like a lot of creatures do
I used to run contract From Below along with a lot of different un cards. there is something to be said about watching magical hacker and Planeswalkers the only reason I even stopped using them was because I wanted to keep a constant update going and was kind of hard to do with those cards cuz not many people ran them
Crazy talk around here I would keep the cursed scroll even into 180 cubes I really like it that much my players drafted a lot. it's also really powerful card when you start getting into groups at draft a slew of mid-range decks and get into a slugfest and lock up the game it's a great way to get past that
Desolation Angel is a very particular card I've had the most success with it hiding it behind usually a powerful control deck you might be able to use it as a top-end finisher and a black white aggro deck if you had nothing else but generally speaking if you can set up a really nice mid-range or control deck that thing is going to end the game every time the mess you're unlucky enough to go up against someone who managed to draft a ton of non land Mana
Nice finds on the cube art, thank you! I don't know how I walked right over mana vault.
Anyway are you asking me if I double sleeve?

Are there any others you know of? I'm going to try and find as many as I can and put those decals as the artwork on each booster sleeve.
to me the more Mana fixing you have the better
