Hello all, I've basically finished building my standard deck on arena and so my attention is turning to historic. I intend to build an aggro boros human list as follows:
I'm largely happy with the mainlist. However I have no idea about the historic meta so have no idea what I should run in a sideboard. Anyone able to give me some tips?
I think the title of the thread says it all mostly. But I am currently in the position of having 5 mythic crafts but no rare ones, despite the fact there are several rare cards I still want to craft! This happened last time I played on arena too (I stopped for a year or so because I hated playing the Witch's familiar deck so much).
I was wondering, is this because the frequency with which you get mythics (is it one in every six rare/mythic craft?) is slightly out of balance or is it just my problem because I tend to build aggro decks that have less mythics in? I'd be interested in hearing others opinions!
Hello all, I'm sort of a returning member! I had an account before everything moved over twitch and then I didn't read the email in time and my account and my (few) posts were deleted. My own fault I'm sure! Anyway I'm 30 and live in the UK. I play both paper and on arena, and my style is aggro in Boros colours in any and every format. Look forward to chatting with you all!
Can this card stack? Say I had multiple copies in my hand and I watched to name, say, just hypothetically, Alrund's Epiphany, could I name it twice and it would cost 4 extra to play?
Hi all, I'm running a R/W historic deck on arena and I'm trying to work out which is better in the meta: Declaration in Stone or Fateful Absence?
On one side you have you have Declaration. It exiles rather than destroys, and it doesn't just deal with the creature your facing, but all of the copies in the deck. Whilst Fateful Absence is at instant speed and can deal with planeswalkers as well as creatures.
Both have advantages, so it feels like which is better is situational. The question is which will be more effective in the historic format.
I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to post this... but I looked through "The Game" section, and I couldn't see anywhere to talk about historic deck lists, so this seemed the most appropriate place to ask the question of where should I do so?
Clearly its been a while since Humans got any modern love! I find that especially sad having returned to Innistrad, the home of the human archetype. I was pretty active in this thread during its origin, but when everything changed to twitch I lost my account and never bothered making a new one. I'm somewhere between a Johnny and a Spike. I want to play an aggro Boros Humans deck. I'm not willing to compromise on that... however within that archetype I'm willing to do anything that allows me to win.
The decklist I'm currently building towards is (I actually own everything but a couple of Arid Mesa and a playset of Sunbaked Canyon):
I'll be honest, I'm pretty excited by this mainlist. The one card I'm wondering about swapping out is Rem Karolus, Stalwart Slayer for Tajic, Legion's Edge, as I think his mentor ability could combo really powerfully with Luminarch Aspirant. Anyone got any thoughts on that, or any other aspect within the main deck list?
As for the sideboard, this was the one I crafted for the meta 3 years ago or so. I've not actually played any modern in that time, so I have no idea what the biggest threats are now and what I should be putting in there to defend myself against them. So would love to hear other peoples thoughts on that?
Innistrad has always been my favourite plane as it has always allowed my favourite archetype to flourish... Boros humans! However without Champion of the Parish/Thalia's Lieutenant it does rather feel like I am limiting myself to tribal out of principle rather than practicality. Flare of Faith and Rally the Ranks are my only cards that reward playing one creature type. All of that said I'm seeing decent success on Arena with this deck, and am looking forward to trying out (a budget) version of it out at FNM soon.
Ambitious Farmhand was a card I discovered almost by accident. I didn't have enough rare crafts on arena so it was just a makeweight, but the land grab is so helpful that I want to keep the playset and the lifegain when it transforms has been awesome. I've also found the quality of 3 drops at the moment is amazing, both Adeline, Resplendent Cathar and Arni Brokenbrow are strong enough cards that I could run them. I'm open to experimenting with the main list if people think they can see improvements.
What I've barely even started to think about yet is my side deck, but I'm getting close to the stage where that is my next step. I seem to perform well against the other aggro decks. But as is often the case with aggro, my worst performance comes against midrange, in this meta that is often mono-green with Esika's Chariot so I'm thinking more removal. Maybe 2 more Fateful Absence, playsets of Brutal Cathar and Cathar Commando. The black deck that runs The Meathook Massacre is a pain, but 2 more Flare of Faith is the only defence I can think against that. That leaves Izzet Epiphany. Especially Alrund's Epiphany. But I have no idea what I could use against that? Anyone got any ideas. Any thoughts about other threats I should be preparing against in my SD?
