The card doesn't say anything about attacking. Up to 2 target creatures get +1/+0 at the beginning of your combat. You get to choose which two, if you have more, and they don't actually have to be attacking to receive the buff.
Interesting that the sign post uncommon doesn't give the buff only if you attack with 2 creatures. I prefer this way of exploring the dynamic.
Cavalry Pegasus has just been upgraded. If only it was cheaper (with stats to reflect it), it might see constructed play. White human needs a form of evasion.
The cleave cost removes the brackets. So for U so you can counter a spell not from the hand. For 2U you can counter any spell. Which seems fair. Although I hate all counter spells.
Initially I was underwhelmed because the artefact destruction ability seems very expensive.
But once I looked past that and focused on him being a 1 drop with a 1/2 body with training, I realised he is an upgrade on white human 1 drops in the current standard, regardless of that ability.
I know this is a really fun card... but I'm gonna admit I'm a little disappointed. The "Legendry Creature - Human Peasant" is the spoiler I've been most excited for every since MaRo's cheat sheet as I expected it to be a powerful white 1 drop. And this is something, but it is definitely not that
Poor a glass out for a fallen brother. Odric, Master Tactician was my finisher in the original Innistrad human deck and is one of my all time favourite cards.
I know this is incredibly unlikely but I'm really hoping that Odric continues to protect humans even after turning. I'm dreaming of an Odric vampire whose abilities offer support to humans rather than vampires.
And in terms of crafting we get, what 1 mythic craft for every 5 rares? Clearly both of us find that we need more rares and less mythics, so what would be a better proportion? 1 mythic in every 10 rare crafts?
Human decks specialise in going wider than anything else. If its being chump blocked other creatures are getting through. Personally I think the huge ward cost is pretty exciting as it means it will survive most removal.
The lack of hitting the player puts me off this card. I'm sure it'll have a place, but I'd rather run Sacred Fire which can do the 2 to the face to close the game out.
I always like 1 drops that make other creatures indestructible. The +1/+1 counter shouldn't be too much of a limiting factor in this standard I should think, so think I might well include some of these.

Personally, I'm hoping for Packsong Pup.
I wonder if the confusion comes from a lot of R/W white cards having haste?
