...so the whole "tempo" idea really only came to me as I was writing the post.

Going to give Brazen Borrower a try, nice flash creature for evolve triggers, great offensive threat, instant speed hard bounce effect - not as good as removal, but probably enough for a game breaking play against an Obliterator or whatever...

If you don't hear from me again, it worked lol.

Hi everyone, hope all is well and thanks for looking!

I'm just checking to see if anyone has any removal ideas for a deck I am working on... it's a U/G/R self-mill deck in modern that needs to keep creature count very high for boneyard worms and the like, also uses a lot of early game evolve creatures. I'm finding it's great at building tempo and pushing the board but gets shut down quick by creatures that own combat such as Phyrexian Obliterator. Need some kind of hard removal basically.

I've tried a few options in the past, but couldn't really find anything that worked... Dungeon geists is too vulnerable to instant speed removal, Spitebellows was interesting and worked pretty well because it was a good trigger for my evolve stuff and went straight to the yard after but it isn't exactly hard removal, and that turned out to be relevant often enough to be a problem... I've also tried hypnotic siren but it just wasn't reliable enough at 7 mana, although the deck does have some ramp capability...

Just wondering if anyone has any other ideas or knows of other cards that might work? I'm also thinking about the new card winterthorn blessing as a potential option, but that card doesn't seem nearly efficient enough for modern and it's not a creature (although flashback cards work well too). Still, this deck is pretty aggressive so a good freeze/tempo effect might do the trick if the body is efficient enough...

Let me know what you think, and thanks in advance!!
