At Modern FNM last night I wen 2-2. Still having trouble with the faux mirror (Rock and Jund).
R1: Win 2-0, Goryo's Vengeance - The person playing this deck hadn't ever played it before (he was loaned it for the night) so he wasn't quite too sure of all the in's and outs of the deck. Game one I was able to win because he didn't have a turn 2/3 win so I kept making him discard. He did hardcast a Griselbrand but then I just made him sacrifice it with liliana the following turn. The second game I kept a greedy hand of Forest, Tec Edge, Pithing Needle, Nihil Spellbomb, and some three drops. Turn 1 Spell Bomb followed up by T2 Pithing Needle on Griselbrand got me the game. I was able to lean on those until I got some more lands and a threat.
R2: Win 2-1, Merfolk - This was a bit tricky. It feels like this should be a decent matchup since we have a lot of removal but they can get big fast and present decent threats. I won game won and three, but got very lucky sitting around 2-5 life with a Bob on the field. Maybe a bunch of little misplays (sequencing my land/spell order, fetching the wrong lands) which was frustrating. Game two I lost because I should have cast IoK before a maelstrom pulse (he had a mana leak) which meant that he had lethal on board next turn. Game 3 was pretty much which you imagine our deck does.
R3: Loss 0-2 Rock - Still not quite the best at playing against this deck. Maybe I should cave and start playing tarmogoyfs because it is quite the troublesome creature in this matchup. I took of all my discard game two and it just didn't feel right. He kept his in and it was what got him the game. I'll need to find a new strategy for this deck.
R1 - UW Control
R2 - Affinity
R3 - Scapeshift (this deck is ridiculous now with dig through time)
R4 - Self Mill/Dredge/Unburial Rities
Sorry I don't have more other than what I played and such. Will start keeping track of thoughts/notes/SBing better. I am going to Modern FNM tonight and I'll let you know how it goes.
So after rereading the post about sideboarding, I think we could probably go more in depth for those decks as well as others. I wrote down every deck in the modern proven/established sections and to start I would like to hear people's thoughts on how our deck fairs against. Ranging from Very favorable, favorable, neutral, unfavorable, very unfavorable.

@Treva
If youre running a budget version w/o goyf, the best replacement in pack rat in the current meta.
I'd cut 2 courser, 1 LS, and MD damnation for 4 rats.
Not running a budget version. The creature base I run I am quite comfortable with. I'm platingw a very grindy build with more removal compared to creatures.
SB the IOK can probably just be duress
This is something I go back and forth about. I would love to hear why recommend a duress vs 4th IoK.
The path is probably better off as darkblast or slaughter pact
I like path because it is useful against decks like gifts that name black and gets rid of all of your removal or wurmcoil engine and the likes.
Rest in peace is probably a little too much for the deck even though you arent running goyf. It still turns off scooze and 2nd half of LS.
Agreed. After doing more testing I found it to do mote harm than good. Will look into Leyline OTV, tormods, spellbomb, and relic.
Utter End and Putrefy can be more efficient. Figure out what those are being sided in against and find the better card. They are better as MD cards b/c they are very versatile.
Utter end is useful against stuff like a pod, wurmcoil, keranos, and other tricky permanents. Putrefy is good against pod and affinity. I enjoy having both of them in my sideboard
You also need 4 man lands in your MD.
As I said before I'm playing more controlly and don't like having that many ETB lands. I like the two currently. I will probably take out the plains for another land, not sure what atm.
My thoughts are this deck is pretty strong maindeck, the sideboard has a lot of one-of's that come in versus various decks to go from even to a winning matchup.
I've finally decided to play junk after playing Wb tokens, green devotion, and a couple of other tier 2 decks for a long time. The last two weeks I went to Modern at my LGS I went 3-0-1 each time (drew the last round to split first place prize).
I'm still learning the deck and I've been reading through the entire thread to learn everything I can. I'm fairly comfortable with the main deck; I think it needs a few tweaks but I like it overall. The sideboard is where I feel my weakness lies. Yes I realize some stuff is strange (like DoJ instead of Damnition [due to lack of funds]) but overall it's been a super fun and challenging deck. Looking forward to talking about this more with you guys.
I've never really played vintagae, mostly done legacy, but this is what I've pulled together. Going to give it a go tomorrow and I have literally no idea what I'm in for:
Just moved back to MN permanently and looking for some places to play. I primarily play modern and legacy with the occasional draft and standard. Any shops I should hit up? Alswo are there any Facebook groups to be aware of?
