Despite the fact that I will be running him in my Planeswalker deck, Venser, the Sojourner is stupid. Every time he hits the field, his plus one gets some stupid good ETB effect (Karmic Guide or Woodfall Primus) and if his ultimate goes off you can just assume the game is coming to an end and not it your favor if you don't have that emblem.

Prophet of Kruphix is also a pain, but I have always held onto removal when facing down any U/G combination just for it.

I once cast a spell that was going to help me knock a player out, the guy next to him doesn't want me to kill the my target because he knew he was next so he counters it with a Pact of Negation. I then counter his Pact with my own Pact of Negation. On his upkeep, I realise he only had 4 lands in play and only one of which was blue. He didn't even consider it, neither did I. I also didn't consider the Eternal Witness in my hand that could have gotten my spell back and won me the whole game that following turn. I died to the guy who didn't have enough blue for his own Pact.

  • posted a message on What cards do you ALWAYS play in each color?
Actually, very few. Crazy enough not every deck of mine has a Sol Ring or Sensei's Divining Top but the majority of them do, so it doesn't technically fall into this list.

    Artifact
Trading Post- no seriously, best card ever printed.
(almost) Sol Ring- of my decks, I think there is only 2 that don't run this and it's mainly because I don't want to but the foil copies for the decks.

    White
    Path to Exile
    Plains

    Blue
    Brainstorm
    Island

    Black
    Swamp
(Every day I despise this color more and more. Not really sure why, I know it's good, just don't run it enough)

    Red
    Blasphemous Act
    Mountain

    Green
    Beast Within
    Cultivate
    Krosan Grip
    Farseek (except in Yeva)
    Search for Tomorrow
    Harmonize -*edit* forgot this one
    Forest

I want something similar to Murmuring Bosk in all of the wedges. I'm really unhappy that I don't have a three color land for Intet yet.

It only happened once and the guy now refuses to do it ever again:
Play any land that taps for blue
    Play lotus petal
Cast flash and put in Academy Rector
    Search out Omniscience
Cast Enter the Infinite or a tutor to grab it
Play Doubling Season or Inexorable Tide
    Play Vraska and Domri Rade
    Ultimate both, Vraska first
    Kill with assassin tokens

Still the only time I've ever lost to Vraska tokens

For Karador yeah probably. I ran a Karador deck for the longest time. Mine was more focused on a few specific combos and just general creature recursion value more than anything. Never considered a control variant. Sounds interesting.

It's Stax control, pretty fun to pilot too. The colors are golden for it and karador doesn't paint the target that Ghave does. It tries to get things like Reveillark and Karmic guide online, especially with each other. Runs efficiently too, which makes me sad that Kiku is so costly because she isn't that efficient since I can't really abuse her abilities

She's very similar to Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief who might be a little better overall, but demands a great deal more of mana. I personally really like Kiku and think that she definitely a card worth playing. In reality she can be a very strong political tool. I think the key to playing her well is more about playing her at the right time then playing her with haste or a Thousand-Year Elixir.

sadly, those are both things my Karador deck doesn't do to well. It's main idea is to constantly keep the creatures in my graveyard and my field switching places and abusing the effects from both death and etb. Haste it's not what it gives and very few activated abilities actually exist. I love how Kiku works, but after some outside input I feel she may be too slow and inefficient for the deck's taste

    "Stop hitting yourself." :p

For good reason, that was the nickname the hypothetical deck was given. It looks to be remarkably fun to pilot, but there isn't enough behind it to do what I want. I did contemplate assassin tribal, but I wouldn't be able to play Vraska, who has some sweet assassin flavor.

I think maybe it's too much of a stretch for Kinky Kiku to be used in an efficient deck. Hopefully there is something else for a 2 drop that I will like

Blightsteel has infect. The idea behind a deck with her as the general was to give indestructible stuff infect and kill them that way since mono black had a low number if exiling effects

[C]Kiku, Night's Flower[\c] for reference because I hate when people don't do this.

I run a Karador Stax that is fairly efficient and when my friend had asked me to play it because he had never seen it I feel in love with it all over again. So recently I have been trying to make it a bit better and give it some new look. One card I came across was Kiku, Night's Flower. I had my eye on it for a bit and contemplated a deck with her at the helm but since I lacked the means to build a new deck, I thought I could try her in the 99. Had anyone had any experience with her outside of the command zone? Her removal is pretty interesting and even though Avatar of Woe is better in a sense, I want the cmc of 2 to give me an extra tool for [c]Birthing Pod[\c].

    Thoughts?

Your card tags are broken. Wink Tags always close with backslashes instead of forward slashes:

Seems very expensive and not reliable enough for BB + 2BB for an activation. I like that it works around Giant Growth-style effects, and I'd probably run her in Vhati il-Dal, but for most black decks there's better, less situational removal in general.

I'm on my phone and it's been a while, sue me. That was my fear, her cost is a bit high for repeatable removal, my draw to it is that it kills things like Blightsteel Colossus or something similar.

  • posted a message on [[MCD]] So, what cards from M15 are you running in your decks?
I'm building Jalira, Master Polymorphist, which also gets Polymorphist's Jest. I think Nissa, Worldwaker will make her way into Yeva, same with Chord of Calling. Battlefield Forge will hit Jor Kadeen, and Ob-Nilixis will definitely find a slot in Sherei, my Shadowborn Apostle deck.

I built the deck with a number of different things going on. I ended up using Hanna, Ship's Navigator as the general as she was one of the very few blonde legends that also fit the color scheme. It was a mangled excuse of a blink deck that didn't pan out the way I wanted and got scrapped. It was hard to keep everything working since it was completely filled with cards that didn't fit together at all. It's a cool theme, and I planned on having a copy of Conjurer's Closet altered to be the TARDIS but it never lasted long enough for that. Overall, it was a poor build that was cool the first few games.

  • posted a message on What generals are you bored of seeing?
Oloro and Nekusar. They are just built exactly the same every time and the game is just dumb with both of them. Every game I sit down in that has an Oloro at the table I just constantly target them and hope to keep their life reasonable (assuming that there isn't someone about to combo all over us). Since Nekusar has been spoiled people have had decks put together with him and they are all the same. Yes, as much as my mono-red deck LOVES card draw, I don't like the way you do it too much.

Since both of them have been released, I have picked up copies of both False Cure and Urza's Armor for either of them.

On a side note, it could just be me, and it is probably because there is only one in my meta but I don't have a problem with Maelstrom Wanderer. My buddy plays one and it is always a blast to play with. No extra turn stuff, no chaos, nothing insanely broken and not build as a goodstuff.dec, every game has been different and fun to play against.

I played it in Melek. Spellslinger decks thrive off cantrip spells, so the card draw is nice, and it does feel less mean when they also get to draw.

Also, that art. Dream Fracture is one of the prettiest counterspells out there, and I feel like someone should mention that, because some people usually care.
