I am the Judge in question. first let me respond to your post point by point:
"Judge wanders over, watches 10 seconds and then tells me I have to make a play NOW."
As a matter of fact, I watched the clock when I walked over, and after 45 seconds, I gave you a verbal nudge to make a play.
"I tried to say we were in the middle of combat, and it's a very complex interaction, and he said he didn't care, I had to make a play now or he was going to penalize me."
Analyzing a complex and evolving board state is a skill at tournament Magic. Unless something like Warp World had just resolved, all information you need has been presented to you over the last couple of turns.
"The game was over immediately after I made my boneheaded block, and thus our match was over 28-29 minutes early."
The time remaining on the clock has no bearing on whether or not your pace of play is appropriate. Slow play with 3 minutes left is just as slow as with 53 minutes left.
"what if it looks like they abused it to give a little home team advantage for the local players."
I live 4+ hours away from that venue. I have no idea who 90% of the players in the room were (including you or your opponent). If you ever feel like you have received a biased ruling, PLEASE appeal to the Head Judge.
I don't come in here as often as I used to, but if you would like to discuss this privately I will try to check my PMs.
It sucks now, but as you go on to become an old player, you will understand the frustration of owning cards that you are unable to play with regularly.
EDH called, they would like to have a word with you about this.
On topic though: I don't own many of the staples that are going to be in this format, and yet I am overjoyed. I have never been interested in EXT except during a PTQ season, and this opens up so many more archetypes. Also, I know at least 20 people who have never played in a (non prerelease) tournament that would jump at the opportunity to play a PTQ in this format.
I just got into EDH in the past few weeks, and I'm tuning this deck. It does have a few "pet" cards that aren't particularly the best, but the overall theme of my deck is as many spells that I can run that I have a strong emotional attachment to. (awwwwww) The deck is very mana-hungry, but do I still have too much? not enough? any glaring omissions?
I just dl'ed Workstation and managed to patch WWK in but I have never actually used the software for a game. I am looking for playtest partners who will be patient AND bring tier 1 Extended decks... anyone?
idk, you seem to have ALOT of CipT lands, have you tested this? because it would seem to run extremely slow.
i also don't really see an extremely efficient wincon.
also jace/sign in blood are your best friends.
Yeah it IS really slow. but you're not trying to win quickly, just trading 1 for 1 for however long it takes to go off. And you don't need an efficient win condition when one of your removal spells (Chandra, who you can easily get back later if she dies) can just go +1 for infinite turns.
I honestly have no idea if this list belongs in the 5CC thread or 5CBloodbraid, so I'll probably post it in both. I was testing around with a more "tradtional" 5CBlood deck last night against BG Elves and just wasn't feeling it, so I built this rough draft of a new deck:

I've said it a million times since the weekend, but that is the most awesome thing I've ever owned. Thank you SO much for the amazing piece!
