I mean, okay? Not sure what you're arguing exactly, I was just pointing out that the cards are analogous, with pros and cons for each. I'm more into Satoru because I like his colors better.

I used to like the bundles because I liked collecting the player guides, but now that they don't have them anymore I don't buy the bundles.

I mean, there's a pretty huge functionality impact in non-singleton formats. Seems like a pretty big deal just to save space.

The fact that O-Kagachi somehow isn't legendary is pretty weird. Only thing making me wonder about realness.

Yeah I have my doubts about O-Kagachi as well. it sets off warning bells that the only one with a serious deviation from expectations also is the one that looks like it got run over by a car.

    You both made one mistake

the Jugan card from the first leak isn't legendary either

I'm sure it's probably legit, but still weird. The green one says "Remnant of" so I can imagine multiple pieces of Jugan's essence floating around. O-Kagachi is specifically in physical form (Made Manifest), so the issue is more glaring. Really like the idea of flip sagas in any event.

I think he's a sweet build-around, but isn't Kaalia of the Vast a pretty good comparison? Kaalia is great but not broken. This costs slightly less, has a bit more toughness, doesn't care about creature types, and can do the thing immediately as long as you have another creature. But you have to pay mana to use the ability every time, have to have another creature and have to return that creature to your hand. Angels, Demons and Dragons are some of the biggest plays anyway.

There's some blocking stuff going on too (i.e., you'll have unblockable dudes in this deck).

Seems like if you like ninjutsu or want to play a Kaalia-type game in UB this is great. Not sure it's especially busted though.

Well that first one has to be Seb, so YAY! Also, I know not everyone is into it, but I think this looks freaking AWESOME.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but all opinions are not created equal. "I don't like the art on the box," is a legit opinion, because art is obviously subjective and not everyone is going to like everything. "I don't like the art on the box, and therefore I've decided the art in the set is going to suck" is also an opinion, but it's based on practically zero information (not saying you're saying that exactly, just using it to illustrate a point).

People do it all the time when spoiler season hits. I guarantee you we'll see like 5 cards and people will start talking about how bad the set is. There's nothing wrong with having that opinion--it's just not really a reasonable one.

But again, this is all rumors and completely baseless speculation. First, it's ludicrous to think they'd double the cost of booster packs--if they do raise the price for some reason, you'll see packs selling for $4.50, not $8. Also, it's worth pointing out that sealed boxes aren't sold at pack price x number of packs. Draft booster boxes don't cost $144 (4x36).

I also don't know why you think expanding to other IPs shows desperation--to me it shows they have the additional revenue which they're using to expand more into pop culture. Like it or not, the more visibility MtG has, the more new players get interested. We'll have to see in a few years if this really pays off, but I have no reason to believe it won't. I think the number of enfranchised players who actually decide to stop playing is a LOT lower than comments on social media would indicate.

So let me get this straight - y'all were okay with fleetwheel cruiser and untethered express because they were powered by Aether, but this motorcycle that is probably powered by magic is too much?

Also people hated the flavor of Kamigawa. Some people loved it, but since most people didn't understand it Wizards said they would never return. Because of overly vocal fans of Kamigawa they now decided to return with some major tweaks. So you overly vocal fans better not complain about the aesthetics because IMO we would have been better off never returning to Kamigawa. This is your doing!

How is that difficult to accept that the people who DID enjoy the original Kamigawa block might be slightly off-put or dismayed by hoping for a return for over a decade, only to find that it was being drastically changed? It's like saying, "Hey, did you like that Kurosawa Samurai movie? Cool, here's Akira. Same country just advanced in time, right?"

You can ALWAYS be disappointed that a set didn't turn out how you'd like or a card you wanted didn't get printed. That position isn't difficult to understand at all. Every time a set drops with more crappy Birds when there's like 6 more rare Humans I'm disappointed. But getting super pissed at WotC and acting like they're ruining the game because you don't personally like a set's flavor or whatever--that's a little harder to get behind.

Just a few questions about your analysis.

How do you know those are DFCs and not some entirely new thing? If they are DFCs, they'll have to be templated like the Origins walkers or be essentially Disturb (they have ETB effects so they won't transform like normal). I don't think we'll get more Disturb immediately after two sets with the mechanic. Anyway, they totally could be DFCs, just don't know this confirms that for sure.

Don't understand "Where's Michiko Konda" either, considering this is only 3 cards. Why do you think the fact that she's not one of these three means she isn't somehow in the set?

Don't understand the references to Cromat, et al.?

maro mentioned on the very first innistrad visit that he feels that’s how the kamigawa flip cards should have been in the first place these could be a death trigger or whatever the back side could be legend but yes they can be anything of how they are flipped to these sides

    2. Michiko can be said to be soulbond with kyodai because in today's era they are known together as sisters of flesh and spirit and been together since.

    3. The reference this legend is just a filler one how 5C legends started were ones not very good and just used for whatever you please but the big issue with being legit is the 2 most recent is tiamat and Garth one-eye they ar both eons better than this kyodai and not automatic good stuff/broken

honestly I feel there’s a chance these may be fake, the holo stamp is there on kyodai but we don't get to see if it has the walker symbols that change to mana symbols from certain angles.

Second description of kyodai looks is Michiko and her can be twins but in dragon/serpent form I’m having trouble seeing that in this

third, why are they hiding the set symbol in the clean ones but not the dirty one

that’s why these are in the speculation thread rather than the offical area.

Word, a lot of that makes more sense now, esp. Michiko. I just was curious where you were coming from.

I do have to laugh at the "this is a problem because players recognize cards by the art" only because they immediately contradict themselves by using the textless promos as an example of this, WHEN THEY HAD ALTERNATE ARTS. Not saying some people don't know a card entirely by the art, but I think more people know a card from the name.

My wife played paper MtG for the first time in years because of the TWD stuff, which is completely different than the Nexus of Fate issue. Nexus of Fate was an issue because it was a top tier card in Standard, was a BaB promo only, and could only be purchased in Foil. Regardless of what else you might think, the TWD cards have had a nominal impact on the game, with only one of the cards occasionally showing up in a lower-tier deck in a barely-supported format. Nexus of Fate and Kenrith were problems; TWD isn't.

I've only played 12 years and I can think of 3-4 separate occasions where the community was convinced the game was dying, yet somehow they keep making more money. Weird.

    Mana-wise, just a few questions:

    1) Why Urborg? You're not playing any colorless lands (except in the sideboard) and the cards don't have especially restrictive requirements (all B or G, no BB or GG, no BBB). Could just be a couple of additional Swamps to make sure your Castle comes in untapped.

    2) Why Snarls over, say, Woodland Cemetery or Darkbore Pathway // Slitherbore Pathway? I'm not a fan of the Snarls.

    3) With your color requirements, you could probably stand to play the Field of Ruins main and free up a couple sideboard slots.

    Other:

    1) Is Chamber Sentry a budget Walking Ballista or am I missing something?

    2) Are you wedded to Lurrus? Lurrus is amazing but especially in decks where it's essentially free (burn, sacrifice, etc., where you're not really looking to run 3 mana permanents anyway). There's a ton of great stuff for your deck that you could play if you didn't have the Lurrus restriction, and you don't gain a ton from having Lurrus as opposed to running a couple copies of Call of the Death-Dweller, or even freer, Agadeem's Awakening. I don't know. Maybe Lurrus is worth it but doesn't seem like there's a huge payoff for your deck.

Just some thoughts. I love Golgari self-mill, so awesome deck!

its a fun format for the most part

Yeah I've really been digging it. The cards are crazy nonsense, but in a fun way. And format looks NOTHING like regular Standard, so that's pretty cool. Already thinking they may end up needing to nerf some of the Alchemy cards--especially the cost reducing ones (Geistchanneler and Discover the Forumula are pretty broken)--but that's fine. Also, I was worried about Historic but really the cards they nerfed weren't seeing a ton of play in that format anyway. Seems like mostly the same decks with just a few new ones that have popped up with the addition of Alchemy.

    I'd call it a success.
