  • posted a message on Season 3 appears! - Filthy Casuals - Where have we been? We never left!
    Hello, and welcome back!

My name's Kurin, and my co-host is Colin, and together we are Filthy Casuals, where we take promotional hiatus, but are back with some spice!

For those who haven't seen us, we open digital packs from mtg's history, adding cards to our growing collection, and battling it out episode to episode.

We just wrapped up season 2, with Mirage and Visions being the last sets we opened!

Between each season (typically core set to core set) we release a (very heavily edited) kickoff episode! We said we wouldn't go overboard this time, but well... I guess you'll have to see for yourself:

WATCH Season 2 Recap + Ban Episode:

Or feel free to watch our live stream!

WATCH Season 3 - Commander Live Stream - Halloween Special:

Or, if you like what you see, we encourage you to go back to season 1 or 2 and watch from there!

We also encourage you to subscribe if you like our content; we put out new episodes every 2 weeks~ (give or take)

Thank you so much. We are committed to continuing the series, improving the quality, and maybe even starting some other series in the near future too!

We here at Filthy Casuals are continuing to tip our cards sideways, and we very much hope you'll continue to... tip along with us.

And here's a tip: continue being the awesome mtg community you are.

    Sincerely,

    Your Neighbourly Friendly Filthy Casuals.

  • posted a message on Filthy Casuals - Episode 7 + 8 - The Dark x Fallen Empires - What's the opposite of power creep?
    Hey MTG Salvation!

*slaps hood of the booster boxes*
"These bad boys can go from 60 to 0 in 3 seconds flat!"
    *stares despondently into the distance*
    "60 to... 0... 3 seconds..."

Hoo boy do we have a double feature for you today. I took a break from posting the last episode as I thought it would be more fun to save you all for the double feature of The Dark and Fallen Empires, widely considered some of the worst magic of all time!

But fear not! We here at Filthy Casuals are 100% committed to bringing you entertaining content regardless of the product we're working on, and in that regard I think we succeeded, but you be the judge!

Surprisingly, there are actually cards for us to look for in these two sets, primarily singles like Blood Moon, High Tide and Hymn to Tourach. We'll see if either of the Filthy Casuals actually manage to pull any though!

Let us know down in the comments: what's your favourite card from either of these sets? Even though they were full of stinkers, I personally found a lot of nostalgia for some of the cards.

Thanks for watching and, as always, don't forget to sleeve your expensive cards!

    Hey MTG Salvation!

    *crosses fingers and toes*
"No this isn't in hopes of you watching our video, though that would be nice too. No, instead I'm hoping for some luck in opening some of those crisp dual lands..."

Filthy Casuals is here for you Legacy players to relive those Revised days, as we open MTG's very first reprint set!

    WATCH EPISODE 6 HERE:

    https://youtu.be/7vEyXOViRZg

We get another crack at powerful tech such as Demonic Tutor and Mana Vault, and let's not forget those aforementioned dual lands!

Let us know down in the comments: what's your favourite dual land and why?

Thanks for watching and, as always, be sure to properly shuffle in between your games!

  • posted a message on Filthy Casuals - Episode 5 - Legends - Will it make history, or be left in yee olde mtg dustbin?
    Hey MTG Salvation!

"Have you heard the tale of Nicol Bolas? How about the legendary Angus Mackenzie?
Perhaps you've even heard of the infamous Barktooth Warbeard? No? Well take a seat and listen..."

Filthy Casuals is back with Episode 5, diving into the first set with printed Legendary Creatures: Legends!

    WATCH EPISODE 5 HERE:

    https://youtu.be/BS9K1LFxUho

We explore the legends of the past, with plenty of familiar faces, whether you've played the game for decades or only a few years. There are plenty of new cards to keep our deck-building-brains whirling. Will we be able to stand among these new heroes, or will we be forgotten to history?

If you haven't seen our series yet, feel free to jump in at the ground level with Episode 1 (Alpha Set!).

    WATCH EPISODE 1 HERE:

We hope you enjoy the episode and don't forget that mana burn phased out in 2009 when you cast your Mana Drain Wink

  • posted a message on Filthy Casuals - Episode 4 - Antiquities - Trying to get Urza's factory up and running!
    Hey MTG Salvation!

    *looks around nervously*
...come closer, we've got some stolen artifacts from an archaeological dig-site for you. They're mostly underwhelming, but we think we have a few treasures.

Filthy Casuals is back with Episode 4, showcasing the mechanization of Antiquities - MTG's first artifact-centric set!

    WATCH EPISODE 4 HERE:

    https://youtu.be/D-g5BiyXaDY

As we crack open this old factory, we get to see the remnants of Urza and Mishra's war... to be honest they have a lot of junk in here; but there are a few hidden gems!

We're getting far enough in, I feel like I should link episode 1 too, in case people want to jump in at the ground level.

    WATCH EPISODE 1 HERE:

Thanks for the continued support, and don't forget to jot down the name's of your opponents hand of cards when you thoughseize them!

  • posted a message on Filthy Casuals - Episode 3 - Now with twice as many Aladdin references!
    Quote from Perodequeso »
There were no rates in Arabian Nights, just two uncommons and six commons. The same holds true for Antiquities, The Dark, and Fallen Empires. I believe it was the case for all early sets sold in eight card boosters.

Arabian Nights Rukh Eggs in MP/HP condition will fetch about $20.00 US.

    Hey Perodequeso, thanks for watching!

Funny enough, we just filmed our Antiquities episode yesterday and finally discovered the rarity thing you mentioned! (Ep 4 should be out by April 21)

Also good to know I have 80 USD in Rukh Eggs here at home haha

Hey MTG Salvation community, Filthy Casuals is back again with a brand new episode!

    WATCH EPISODE 2 HERE:

The last episode saw us opening Limited Edition Beta, our last chance at Power 9, and it was quite an episode coming off the more grindy match of Episode 1, let us know what you think!

Episode 3 is slated to be released in two weeks, with more episodes biweekly, so stick with us Filthy Casuals, we only disappoint occasionally Grin

May all your lands be duals,

Hey Perodequeso, love the Free Range Chicken proflie pic!

Thanks for the comment! I have to admit I was a bit thrown off with how poorly Prodigal Sorcerer interacted with Samite Healer haha

  • posted a message on Filthy Casuals - An MTG Progression Series
Hey MTG Salvation community, Filthy Casuals here!

What's Filthy Casuals you ask? (I hope you asked?)

Well it's a progression series where two highly unprepared friends open sets throughout magic's history, starting with Alpha and moving up.

Episode 1 is out now, with Episode 2 coming out in the next week! We've also got a pilot episode for those interested in starting from the very start.

https://youtu.be/fZ6o7Poo2VI (apparently I can't embed the video here, sorry)

If you think you'd be a fan of traversing through magic's history in a nostalgia driven format crewed by two completely ridiculous individuals, look no further!

If you do have a watch, thank you so much! We have a tonne of fun filming and we can't wait to release more. Grin

May all your draws be power nine,

    Filthy Casuals Team
