Well i sorta know how you feel on having so many good ideas and not being able to use them all in time.
I myself have that problem which is why I have my set files the way they are...
I have a "test" set where every new card i create starts it gets tweaked noted with version #s and I keep any flavor, theme, and story idea in the card notes box.
I then have a "Finished card" set where all cards go when I have stopped working with them. From this set i have to opportunity to then take any combination of the finished cards and throw them in a set file.
Should a set need specific cards later down the road I start making them in the test set.
The system I run works really well for me and even lets me keep track of which cards i have put into which sets.

Random magic is a card that I was building aimed at mainly multi-player matches, so that you could choose the player that you are not trying to affect.
Ridgeback mauler. if I used the must be blocked by an additional creature this turn more than once will the additional blockers stack eg if I use it twice will he have to be blocked by three creatures?
any more input on these few? If not I'll post a few more cards tomorrow.
Insert name here - I will fix the formatting on him. A friend of mine has named him Oakborn Ancient. I think that his cost could go up by 1 so his final cmc is going to be 9.
Pouncing Puma - I can see where the argument for his power and toughness change come from but I dont know if a toughness boost is in order without a cost change. the compared card has a conditional flash and is two colors. For now though I am going to play test both p/t versions and see how they play out.
Helix Mage - thank you for correcting me on the formatting for the damage. Although I dislike the idea of a boros type card making you discard would making the ability match his casting cost help balance him out any?

And The insert name here may be a great creature but Thorn Elemental can deal damage as though it weren't blocked, although I think that I might add one to the cmc to balance things out a little.
How do you think that I should make the helix mage more elegant.
