I will repeat myself again : this digital-only experiment is a failure that nobody likes, both on intent and execution.

I like it. Flawed, yes, but its got neat ideas. You're welcome to not like it, but your personal opinion doesn't define its success or failure.

Yeah, "A failure that nobody likes" is a bit strong for a product that's not even released yet. I'm willing to give it a chance.

A Centaur Soldier for 2G that give a creature card in your hand +2/+2 perpetually (can't see p/t)
    Source

Scryfall has it, but doesn't list the source.

Sarkhan seems good - win con and removal in one card. The other two, not so much. The Scion is too much investment for the effect and Scorn's not nearly strong enough removal to be worth 3.

Some of these cards read and feel like they're from a different game entirely.

This makes more sense to me than the demands for paper and magic to be identical at any cost. If they do a lot of this, it seems like it would change the nature of historic from the place where old standard cards go to some kind alternate universe digital Magic. In paper, Pioneer is where old standard cards go, but they've postponed work on bringing Pioneer to Arena, so it seems quite possible Arena won't really have an "old standard cards" format for a while.

    People are overreacting.

    True.

Tried it just now. Can cut to it about as easily as a foil.

Oh really? In that case, replace instead the marked card with a basic land where you write "[Cardname] and [Perpetually effect] in that case, and now tell me how you will cheat that once is reshuffled. Let's bet that you can't and so that it is actually possible to mark a perpetual card without cheating the game?

I get it that you don't like the truth that you just don't like the solutions available, but please stop saying that it's just impossible to do it in tabletop game or there is some cheating issue bull***** because it is simply not true.

So now I have to write on a basic and stop to switch sleeves every time I want to use a perpetual card? Or if my opponent uses one on a card under my control?

I'll admit it's not 100% impossible, but there is no solution that's not really, really annoying.

You know now that I think about Perpetually

That is in paper look at Praetor's Counsel and stigma lasher

    Exactly what I said.

Mtg can do permanent effects. Monstrosity does it too, as do a few cards that grant haste and every emblem. However, none of those track past the thing they affect leaving the battlefield.

Also, the idea of putting stickers on cards... people were mad about D20s and dungeons and you want to introduce a consumable resource to games?

    edit:
Please read the reply I already gave above to Lectrys, I already answered. Since everybody in tournaments always play with sleeves, stickers aren't even need it and any random tiny piece of paper inside the sleeve will do the job and I can assure you it's impossible to tell once the card is shuffled, which one with the thin piece of paper is, because from a thickness perspective you can't tell the difference of a sleeved card with or without a thin and little piece of paper. If you don't believe me, try out yourself with your friends and see the results. It's the simplest solution ever.

Those do indeed look difficult to do in paper. Glad they're not just incredibly random, but a little worried about the unspecified ability on Davriel - that was a thing the I disliked in Hearthstone, having cards that you had to use (or look up on some external source) to know what they did.

Our glimpse of Kamigawa with Yuriko doesn't indicate it is cyberpunk, and Neon Dynasty doesn't need to mean that. Unless she was from old timeline Kamigawa.

I'd prefer an updated, resonant Kamigawa, but still retain that feudal theme.

But wouldn't it be nice, just once, to buck the trend of fantasy worlds caught in inexplicable technological and sociological stagnation?

Do it with Dominaria then. I’m honestly prepared to dislike Kamigawa because it’s likely to miss the parts of the original I liked. Which is sad but to be expected. Cyberpunk is not what I want at all.

But last time we went to Dominaria the descendants of the Weatherlight crew rebuilt the Weatherlight and fought the Cabal while Tetsuko Umezawa was walking around talking about Toshiro like he saw him last week. 2 apocalypses didn't change the social structures there.

We didn’t see all of Dominaria, and my suggestion is use that kind of thing there instead.

I'd love to see Dominaria evolve too, I was not a big fan of the nostalgia for nostalgia's sake thing that's become its theme. Rehashing the same old stuff, especially when it makes no sense given the time scale and the story so far, is "somehow, Palpatine returned" level bad storytelling.

Yeah, I doubt the kami are totally gone from Kamigawa, but a decreased presence certainly seems likely as both plot and marketing seem like they would push that way.

Why don't they just kill pioneer and make historic the new modern 2.0? It's what they want to do.

Wasn't there supposed to be a Pioneers Masters set? Could have sworn it was listed on the wiki.

It's postponed, so they can focus on developing Historic:

Not that this necessarily means Pioneer is going away or never coming to Arena, but it might be a while.

"OK, fine, we'll go back to Kamigawa, but it's been 1000 years, so everyone from the first one is dead and it's become a cyberpunk world."

    close it might be 10,000

and not quite everyone is dead fairly safe bet particular spirit legends that didn't get killed in the war are most likely alive most particular sisters of flesh and spirit (kyodai and Michiko Konda combined) and All-Consuming Oni of Chaos and Hidetsugu combined

I'll amend: every non-spirit is dead.

If it's 10,000 then to them the Kami war was almost as far back as the invention of agriculture is to us. Eiganjo Castle could be there Gobekli Tepe.
