It is a bit odd they wouldn't clarify this immediately.
I do have a legitimate interest in this, not just for argument's sake, having come on this deciding whether to make a E&G Commander deck as I'm sure many have, and the leyline is obviously one of the first cards you look at. That and Vedalken Orrery which has been changed to be worded the same.
Even stranger, I think there is an argument for being able to cast a sorcery from the top as a sorcery, but not any time you could play an instant.
Errant and Giada effectively says:
"If it has flash, you may cast it,"
And Leyline effectively says:
You may cast anything as though it had flash.
If you take the second meaning to satisfy it being able to be cast with the first, which it logically does does, it may mean that can't also take it to mean "any time you could play an instant" for that permission.
I know it will likely will be clarified as not being able to cast spells this way, and hopefully it will be put on the gatherer page for Errant and Giada (instead of only clarifying how you can't look at the top card while you are playing a land, however that may be relevant...)
I'm not sure that thread is conclusive either. If E&G said "you can play cards" it might be different, but both static effects say "you may cast spells".
As they point out in the thread linked in the previous reply, "as though it has flash" is not clearly defined in the rules as being about timing. Therefore logic should apply.
Let's say there is a logic knot on top of my library, and the above mentioned cards in play.
Obviously leyline's wording was meant to be solely about timing when it was worded like that. But, if there is something on top of your library that could be played if it had flash, and leyline says you can play spells as though they had flash...
I guess this question is mostly about timing of activating a mana ability, and whether you can tap the basic land for mana between when it gets put into play untapped and then gets untapped by the fabled passage ability.
The TO was not there at the time, and the judge in question would be the one giving out the prizes.
My main problem was that I am unsure of the way the prizes are structured beyond undefeated X-0 players definitely getting prizes, I was wondering whether the TO or in their absence, the judge running the tournament has to disclose the prize structure when asked either at the beginning of the tournament, at those moments when it matters (when you can ID etc.), or afterwards so I know for next time.
Perhaps not in the spirit of casual events, but I was recently in the position where I could throw the final game for my opponent to get prizes for being undefeated, while if I won, I think neither of us, nor anyone else, would get those prizes and the store would keep those prizes. I called a judge and asked if they could explain what the prize structure would be if I won or lost (which should have been certain at this point as the other match for undeafeated had concluded) and they refused to answer. I was wondering if there are any Judge rules on this.
Maybe they should write "whenever a source causes you to gain life.." on the card if thats what they mean, I thought the same damage dealt in one chunk argument would apply, where 3 damage is dealt with lifelink and they gain 3 life, not 1 life 3 times.
Contrary to Flicker, and contrary to something like Banishing Light, if you choose to put Gisela in the command zone when Oblivion Ring exiles Brisela, the Ring's second ability won't be able to find her, because it looks specifically in the exile zone. Only Bruna returns.
Ummm, do you mean banishing light can return it from the command zone?
Also, if I don't put Gisela in the command zone, can both be returned when Oblivion Ring leaves the battlefield even though it says "the exiled card" singular.
Thanks, I figured Bruna wouldn't get put in the command zone, I was just wondering whether it exploded/got exiled by trying to follow Gisela to the command zone.
I also like the idea of being versatile, but it wouldn't work because it would be too hard to keep track of which cards on the board had been paid in which ways.
Maybe if it were a kamigawa style flip card with mana costs on top and bottom.
I like the idea of multiple kickers better though...

You may pay blue mana instead of green mana for creature spells you own, if you do that creature loses trample and gains flying.

Was wondering how Archelos, Lagoon Mystic works with Fabled Passage

I attack with Ranging Raptors and my opponent blocks with three 1/1 lifelink tokens with Dawn of Hope in play.
1/ Do I get 3 search triggers?
2/ Does my opponent get 3 draw triggers?

If the melded Brisela was enchanted with Gift of Immortality, and is destroyed.
1. Can i return both Gisela and Bruna to play and enchant one of them at end of turn?
2. Can i put Gisela in the command zone, return Bruna to play then enchant it at end of turn.
Also, If i Flicker Brisela, can I choose for either both to come back, or put Gisela in the command zone and Bruna come back.
Also, If i Oblivion Ring Brisela, then sacrifice Oblivion Ring after the exile trigger resolves, can i return one or both to play.
If the melded Brisela, Voice of Nightmares is destroyed, and I want to put Gisela into the command zone, what happens to Bruna?
