    I concur.

    To summarize:

    Vampires die in sunlight
The Twilight "Saga" actually isn't a saga because the definition for saga is a narration of heroic exploits.
The books were terrible, I tried to read them and the writing is the worst I've ever seen.
The logic of the characters is horrible and the suggestions of hyper-sexualizing the characters and their drastic and almost instantaneous changes in opinions is horrendous.
It also doesn't give teenage girls (or guys) the right idea of how the world works. IE: Its ok to kill yourself over a guy because that'll make him love you more, etc. etc.

    Thank-you.
I'm not the only one who sees this

Guessed this belonged here because the ☺☺☺☺ers are all over our entertainment Facepalm

Tonight, after a heated argument, I have decided to gather as many opinions about the matter as I can, so I present you with a couple questions:

Has the Twilight saga drasticaly changed the way people perceives what a vampire should be like?

    only some people

Have you refused to pick up a series, book, movie or comic just because it has to do with vampires and you're tired of the concept?

    yes
Do you think the rising popularity of vampires will water down the concept even more or will it strenghten them?

i think it will hurt them in the end.
If you were a writter/director/artist creating a vampire themed story, would you feel the need to incorporate elements from this saga to make your story more acceptable and true to the current concept of vampires, write the story you want and stay unattractive to the mainstream media, or drop the whole theme and write something else?

I am each one of those. I would not incorporate any of the twilight sagas ☺☺☺☺. I hate everything about it. I would stay true to the original superstitions. Right down to the original stories, maybe incorparating some contemporary things.
How much do you think it'll take for vampire literature to go back to social critique/erotic-gothic horror?

I think it may take a few years, although I know for a fact that there is still literature being written about gothic, blood hungry vampires.

And most importantly, what has your own opinion of vampires come to be, and how has it changed since their recent rise in popularity?

I still like the idea of vampires in literature and other media. They are a huge icon in so many different forms of entertainment.

Ironman. Come on, he even has the invincible in his name. He'd invent his way around the problem. What I don't get is why they choose to meet. Why couldn't he just pay off people to get the hulk while he is still human and sleeping?

I never liked the Hulk anyways, so :p +1 Ironman

That's what the things in Left 4 Dead are, too. Infected humans.

That's why the game itself refers to them as "infected". Wink

But on the whole zombie issue, a zombie is also considered a mindless person who has no self sentience.

Meyer was a Mormon? That makes sense why she ☺☺☺☺ed it up. Just kidding.

I hate that Anne Rice quit wrighting about Vampires and went super Christ lady on us, but I think eleven books is enough for Lestat. She should have continued the new series with only 2 books.

What I seemed to notice in twilight is that Meyer tried to humanize the vampire, whose lack of humanity made him what he is. I applaud her for this but want to slap her for going too far. Rice tried to do the same thing, by taking away all the religious and superstitiuos bull☺☺☺☺. She left many of the old stereotypes and made them reasonable ( like sleeping in coffins). She made a self concious higher being rather than a monster.
Meyer only annoys me because the sparkle goes against all vampire stories ( I never heard of the bloating or the rice counting thing). Vampires have not always died from sunlight ( originally they simply came out at night so as to not be seen). I also hate twighlight for the bad wrighting, plot, and message. It's telling our preteen girls that if hey are depressed and stubborn and whiney they will get what want by acting out.

I wouldn't deny it at all. Cha-ching. I would just go on living as I had, faking my death and moving every once in a while to avoid anyone noticing.
The bad part is it would be almost impossible to settle down with anyone.

In 3007 I think it would be literally so drastically different it would be almost impossible to imagine. Think of how much we changed in the last 1000 years. Not to mention we could all die from Nuclear war in the next 100 or some cataclysmic event.

Ok where did all this vampire crap come from. And when did it start. I know I didn't lose touch, I just went to college and all these bs twilight movies come out. I mean I went to film school and these movies look terrible. So what's the deal?

It's all a big money investment. It all comes from the books. Like the Harry Potter books. Although, like Stephen King said, the difference between Stephany Meyer and J K Rowling is, Rowling can write.
It doesn't look like they do a very good job on the movies, (I found several problems the screeners missed and I don't like the movies or the books), and the special effects aren't revolutionary or really great, but if you notice they had some big names in secondary characters playing secondary characters :p

I think in some ways everyone wants to be immortal, and the "wanting to be a vampire" has been around for while. Personally tho id MUCH rather be a Warewolf. Vampires can suck it!

    Yes, werewolves are much better.

    Quote from Nideon
Immortality not withstanding, I'm talking about all the vampires in the media. Trublood, twilight are the big two. Like it has achieved sickeningly levels of status and it needs to be stopped

What about the Anne Rice vampires? Or Blade? Or the Underworld Trilogy? Or goddamn Dracula (do we really need another remake?) Vampires are just a huge thing, and they are getting bigger in modern media as times go on.

I like that we are getting a huge rush of decent vampire movies again. Just like zombies had their small time rush.

I have to admit, the series are getting a little out of control though. It looks like Underworld has pulled out, Blade ended, and now twighlight needs to die. (I have heard of Trueblood however)

Apparently I'm like Marius. I haven't read that much of the Anne Rice books so I don't recognize him :p but from the description I think it's pretty close.
    Dracula was second.

hahaha, I used to compare myself to Louis but apparently I'm the least like him

I vote Batman. Spiderman would win the initial fights, with his super powers and what not. But, as has been said before, he lacks the follow through. Batman would slink away and just develope something to beat the Spiderman. It's what he does best.

And, like said before. Batman doesn't kill either. Spidey has killed more people as far as I can remember. Batman will either wait for the coppers, or put them in an inescapable situation.

Honestly though, how the hell did he get this far?
They need to release some Marvel bonus content for MK vs DC, then we'll find out Wink

Hahahahaha that was awesome. I'm not too surprised though. There are other instances where this kind of thing happens. Although off the top of my head only video game examples are coming to mind. Like Samus Aarons helmet in the game Gheist.

Thanks for showing this though Wink

I shower every morning so I don't get greasy hair. And if i get especially sweaty or dirty, I shower at the end of that day. This may not be what you were trying to do, but you almost made me feel like a clean freak. :p
