I don't know if this is still an active thread? But I wanted to share my current thoughts on Martyr Proc.
Martyr Proc is my 'pet deck'. Definitely the deck I have most fun playing at FNM. And I think it's actually in a really good spot right now in the meta. The two most prominent decks appear to be on the aggro plan; BR Shadow Prowess, and straight-up prowess. Early discard and disruption can be an issue out of the Shadow decks but with no Tron (because of Cleansing Wildfire showing up everywhere), a decline in combo and the rise of aggro (including Humans - which is a match-up I've always liked) - Martyr seeems well positioned.
Also, I think there have been a few inclusions from recent sets that help the deck enormously. Firstly - lurrus of the dream den. Pretty much a Modern staple now, landing a turn 3 Lurrus just gives the deck so much consistency with the main engine. Looping Squadron Hawks, Martys and / or Serra Ascendents.
Secondly, Speaker of the heavens. Whilst it's not as powerful, it does feel like having extra copies of Serra Ascendent and is a turn-one play I'm always happy with.
Then we have Angel of Destiny from the new Zendikar which is just a brand new win condition. It's not impossible - in a Path to Exile heavy meta - for your opponent to help you ramp this out on Turn 4. And if they can't answer it immediately, it can be a one-shot kill. It doesn't even have to deal combat damage - just to have 'attacked'. Pretty sweet.
