I am wondering if anyone has an idea what sealed packs of the below arena promos may be worth. I've searched online, but haven't had much luck. The photo contains the following:
Sealed Pack of 10 Arena Promo Islands (1999)
Sealed Pack of 10 Arena Promo Mountains (1999)
Sealed Pack of 10 Arena Promo Plains (1999)
Arena Match Results Slip Issued by WOTC.
5 Arena Promo Forests (Singles)
16 Arena Promo Swamps (Singles)
Does anyone know what a complete FNM collection (to date) would be worth? Or if you could suggest a good way to price it out? One copy of each promo. May post a video here talking through my collection. A ton of history in these promos.
Nice build, although I would have run Vassal Soul, Ogre Jailbreaker and Assassin's Strike over Batterhorn, Gore-House Chainwalker and Slitherhead.
The problem with Vassal Soul in this build is I'd rarely have two blue on turn three, therefore I had to cut it. Also no gates for Ogre Jailbreaker. Still a decent blocker, but I'd rather have a threat I think.
Mana looks really scary with multiple double-color cards in both red and blue.
It might have been better to go Jund instead of Grixis; the blue is not that impressive to me outside of Mizzet. With all the fixing in green (2 vine, guardian, and seek) you could even go 5-color green.
Dude, I really wanted to play green for the land fixing. It was just asking for it, but I was worried to try the 4 or 5 color route. I also considered Jund, but I didn't see a reason to fuel so much mana unless I was playing the dragon. The creatures just didn't seem good enough in Green. Glad you noticed that , too.
Same, Assassin's Strike - it does cost a lot, but it's hard removal. Did you ever run into mana problems? dbl keyrune is nice, that helps with Niv. Maybe one less mountain for a swamp since your keyrunes both tap for red
edit:
goblin rally and dynocharge seems awesome/bad. did you really nee the blue? you can easily play traitorous instinct and any of those 5 drops - batterhorn or golgari longlegs for better mana. having bombs tho is nice. it's just hard that niv costs dbl colors
I agree the cards were somewhat there for a full on Rakdos, but I wasn't confident in the pool. Although good in the right aggro deck, top decking Goblin Rally or Dynocharge seems like it can be bad. Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius just wins the game if it sticks a turn.
Assassin's Strike was my #41. It was a tough cut, but I felt good with my removal package already. It also doesn't RFG and I didn't want to fuel any scavenge stuff for a Golgari opponent, both from the kill or discard. I did, however, side it in vs a Rakdos with four rare bomb flyers.
Here was my list and pool that I ran last night at a Grand Prix Trial at All The King's Men in Pitman, NJ. 5 Rounds of Swiss / Cut to Top 8. I placed top 4. Let me know your thoughts. Finished 4-2-1.
Hey, I came across this scenario in an M12 draft on MTGO. My opponent has a Roc Egg on the board with some other creatures. I have Chandra, the Firebrand in play with a Day of Judgment in my hand. If I use Chandra's 2nd ability to copy my next sorcery spell and cast Day of Judgment, does the 3/3 flying token from Rukh Egg survive the fight??
Went 4-2-1 with my B/R Vamps at Philly (104 attendees). Finished 21st.
R1 vs GWB Rock (W 2-0)
R2 Open the Vaults (W 2-0) thought hem ftw
R3 vs Mythic Bant (L 1-2) both losses were to turn 3 sovereigns
R4 vs Mythic Bant (W 2-0) failed to turn 3 sovereign me
R5 vs Time Sieve (T 1-1) this guy stalled until i called a judge over. he was dead next turn in time, really p.o.ed
R6 vs Jund (L 1-2) 3 failed nocturnus flops cost me g1
R7 vs UWR Planeswalkers (W 2-1) won games 2 and 3 without seeing 1 of my 4 hexmage (instead found 5 duress among both games)
Violent Outburst flows into --> Nest Invaders, Blood Birthing
With Outburst being an instant, you can even combat trick an effective block, cascade into at least 2 blockers, or just an EOT creature/mana ramp. It is the icing on the cake upon a popped Garruk Ultimate or Monument on the board.
The Monument / Awakening Zone combo is self explanatory.
Currently sitting on 22 land, but the tokens produce all the fixing you need. I've gotten there with as little as 2 land in play.
This deck is incredibly fun! I suggest you give it a spin.
Appreciate your feedback and Sideboard thoughts as well.
I picked up one box of Zen (mind you I had not purchased a booster box since maybe Invasion)... but with all the groovy lands and hopes for treasure, Wizards convinced me..
Anyway, turns out I was pretty lucky as the first two cards paid for the box itself:
1 Zen Box:
1 DIAMOND VALLEY (Arabian Nights treasure)
1 Misty Rainforest (FOIL)
1 Arid Mesa
1 Marsh Flats
1 Goblin Guide
1 Bloodchief Ascension
2 Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet
1 Archive Trap
1 Nissa Revane
1 Conquerer's Pledge
1 Oracle of Mul Daya
The rest was pretty jank, but still definitely not complaining.
So I bought a Zen fat pack today... Would you believe the following?
Another Foil Misty Rainforest!
+ 1 Normal Misty Rainforest
Bloodghast
Goblin Guide
Scute Mob
Sphinx
2 purchases = 2 foil misty rainforest. What the hell are the chances?
