Limited/standard wise, putting out a chump blocker, and getting a + instead of a - for it is pretty strong
Obviously really good in limited, but in Standard, it struggles a bit in comparison to stuff like The Wandering Emperor and Wedding Announcement, both of which already do the "make tokens and buff creatures" thing very effectively.
Or add her into the mix.
T4 Wanderer placing down a dood, then T5 Elspeth and pump it to a 5/5 Vig, Flying, thats pretty much a Serra Angel there that can attack that turn.
I really like her, so cannot wait to get this card, and i like that she still makes Soldiers rather than angels, at least for the moment, as she has just been remade, so maybe in time she will make angels (if she survives).
Yes you will get 10 triggers, however due to the wording stating the name of the side in the effect, it wont keep transforming back and forth from each side.
The best that you can hope for is 2 transformations into the second side.
it would resolve something like this:
10x lifegain instances causes 10 triggers from Ratchet, Field Medic. The first resolves and you convert Ratchet into Ratchet, Rescue Racer and then return an artifact with mana value less than or equal to the life gained.
Then you sacrifice any artifact (by any means you may have access too) while the remaining 9 ratchet triggers are still on the stack.
This then triggers Ratchet, Rescue Racer and you convert it back to Ratchet, Field Medic. This then allows you to resolve the next of the 9 remaining triggers, to convert and return an artifact.
This time however even if you sacrifice an artifact, Ratchet, Rescue Racer cannot convert due to the once per turn clause, meaning that the remaining 8 triggers for Ratchet, Field Medic fizzle as you currently have no permanent with that name on your battlefield.
I think if you were then able to flicker Ratchet, Rescue Racer to return it back to Ratchet, Field Medic then you may be able to continue, however i dont know if the 8 remaining triggers fizzle due to it not being the same instance of the permanent. But may be a way to continue the triggers.
Red has plenty of flying threats, Phoenix's are probably the best example (and can be repeatedly played).
Apart from that i do agree about the costs, though 4 is not a bad cost as it can guarantee a Chromatic Lantern if thats the only 3 or less card you have
The untapping does not remove them from attacking.
The sequence goes something like this.
Declare attackers> (therefore taping creatures that attack)
Attack triggers> such as Karlach, Fury of Avernus' goes onto the stack and resolves if nothing else happens, untapping all the attacking creatures and giving them all First Strike for the turn.
Declare Blockers> Opponent chooses as usual.
First Damage Step> Resolves as per any combat.
Second Damage Step> If there are any double Strikers.
Second Combat Phase> And so on.
Could the new evergreen counter be haste? Its the only thing that jumps out at me (other than maybe protection), but it also seems useless to be fair too so who knows.
Yes it does, though the copy will cease to exist after it resolves instead of going into exile. (meaning that the original card will be the only card on an adventure[Exiled])
