Anyways yes it’s second hand information from a person who has access to printing information and it could be all bunk but I was told make sure you get as much product as you can in advance because there is going to be a massive market for the 4th quarter. Again this is from a friend who has steered me right before.. same source said terese force of will art will be in double masters since the fall out with her happened after print run so after all the people paying to much for a T:Force of Will art will be hosed. The logistics don’t have to make sense as the c. Virus disrupted the ability to purchase the cards and like everyone getting a card from a big second hand for a few months was not possible. The inserts happen post print (which is noW finished) for first run. If papa hasbro invests say 1 million in (random figure) reserved cards and yes even from Homelands (all reserved is still reserved they did not do og zendi based only on power cards) but makes a solid 5million off the 1 mill that would be a solid investment. (Also this first run will be much larger then original Z and that does not include collector boxes. They want to stick to similar drop rates so boxes move. Hasbro doesn’t want to sit on a massive 1st run they want to be forecasting a massive 2nd)
Logically zendikar was the same, you could say why would they spend money on the secondary market when they could just print cards.
anyways figured I would share what I have been told as I have my pre orders locked locally so I won’t have to pay out the ... on eBay or others or have canceled greed orders.
In 2008-2009 wizards of the coast used 3rd party companies to purchase vintage cards for inclusion in the first run of Zendikar for the priceless treasures.
They used all the magic events to quietly purchase (at most times at a reduced cost) so as to not upset the market values.
Fast forward to today. We have a virus, we have a magic market that is growing in what seems an impossible rate. Gaea’s Cradle jump in 2 months from 350-550. The reason bing is priceless treasures 2.0 is in route And they only way they can purchase the cards is from the open online market. All the big sites were closed up (star city, etc) from the virus and the online community was the only market to recapture the vintage cards thy needed again to get the mega pre sale/ end of year figures they want from Zendikar Rising.
So if you haven’t yet get your pre orders in with local game shops. Rumors I heard included all collectors boxes will support a higher % of priceless treasures and to push standard box sales they will have the same drop rate as original Zendikar in standard boxes.
Another rumor I heard was they will insert random vintage packs in booster boxes too but I heard that one time and haven’t seen any data to support that unless wizards has the packs in storage to insert.
Anyways again just a rumor but ask yourself does it make sense logically and as a money play for hasbro for a strong year when most companies struggled. In a way they literally are manipulating their own magic card market, kind of genius....
