Why can't you download MSE ??
I wish I had photshop so I could make split cards better.
Until they make a decent version for Macs I'm stuck with photoshop. Don't get me wrong, I love photoshop, but sometimes when time is tight I wish I could bang out a few perameters and be done with it.
Indeed, you are. Sadly, I was rushed to the end there and was trying to come up with something "epic" enough to justify a mythic creature. Didn't consider those filthy changelings. Just too much rush, not enough thinking. Shoulda gone with wolf tokens. Bah, there's always next month.
I wish I had MSE so I wouldn't have to spend 4 hours in photoshop aligning my text and resizing my mana symbols just so.
2. I think I can see where you're coming from, but Equity just doesn't have the same meaning of Justice. Justice is meant to mean peaceful vengeance of sorts, Equity is simply fair. They have very different meanings, and in this context, I don't think they work.
(SNIP)
I disagree with your definition of justice. It took Socrates almost all of "Republic" to come up with a reasonable definition of Justice. In the case of such a complex concept the English language is somewhat flexible. In many cases you'll find someone's definition relies on what is "fair and equal", something that is often used to describe justice. You will find that exact statement in many pieces criminal legislation in many countries.
These days the term "reasonable" is often used in a similar context.
Vengeance on the other hand has its roots in a definitive concept. It's literal Latin forbearer, vindicare, means "to lay claim to". As in "you took the life of my father therefore I lay claim to yours (e.g., the claimant is going to kill the accused)." It's a component of the concept of justice, and in some systems of morals, it is it's lone definition (eye for an eye anyone)? Essentially the notion boils down to this: if you take something of mine I take something of yours of equal value (i.e., home, life, child, money).
Essentially equality and vengeance have their foot in the same pond, and to some share the same definition. They are two sides of the same leaf and as far as I am concerned a reasonable basis for a split card.
But then again, I'm not the judge, and as was said before judging is all about interpretation.
I am curious to know how people feel about this rounds system of judging. Was it effective? Was it more definitive than the previous method? Does it mitigate the "judge bias" factors?
I'm pretty satisfied with the results, but I am a little biased given that it worked in my favour (at least this time).

Note: I am aware there is a missing comma in the render's flavour text but sadly I didn't notice until now and I'm at work. Sadly, no photoshop here.
The reality is that judging, like any other activity a human being does, is subjective. We try to make it as objective as possible by imparting rules, regulations, judging criteria, and a whole bevy of esoteric knowledge derrived from reading Maro, and other's, articles on design.
You have to accept that each judge is going to apply their own criteria in their own way based on the guidelines provided by Shep, or Kraj, or whomever else is involved in a given month or even in the overall process. While we endeavor to have some homogeny in the results, it's that slight deviation from judge to judge that makes it interesting.
Judges are people, and they make judgement calls, a notoriously flawed enterprise. The variations in opinion is made up by the randomization of judges. Try as they might some judges may have a Johnny slant (or Timmy, or Spike) and you may have a slant in the other direction. It's just bad luck that you end up with that judge, but like in magic, fate is a cruel mistress. She giveth and she taketh away.
That's not to say it's all left to chance, the judges are selected based on certain criteria to ensure they attempt to be as impartial as possible to mitigate some of these factors; but, they never go away.
You don't have to agree with a judges choice, you don't even have to like it; but, unless they made some kind of quantifiable mistake you must accept it. Rejection is a part of life, and unless you learn to deal with it gracefully, life is going to be very hard.
While I have a deep, burning, hatred for coins flips (and clash btw) and avoid playing them at all costs one certainly can not say coin flips go unused in competitive and casual play.
Hating them is a personal choice, but as far as I know, there's never been a design notice from R&D, to never use the mechanic again.

At the beginning of your upkeep put a -1/-1 counter on each creature in play. At the end of your turn, if there are no creatures in play sacrifice ~. "The green dawn approaches!" Cry of the Nu'ruoma plague-heralds
Be prepared, because this one has some bonkers rules text.

Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell you may put a Magic Spirit creature token into play with the same color(s) of that spell and power and toughness equal to the converted mana cost of that spell, it has haste.
Added (totally forgot):
When ~ leaves play, sacrifice all tokens created this way.
The templating seems super wrong. You know how it is. This one could have also been called "Living Magic".

Oh, and I didn't include a rarity sym in the render... duh.

Thoughts?
But seriously, has anyone figured out the "twist" to this round? IE what was the "something missing" that Shepherd was reffering to?
