Also just reread it, the discount applies to any card you have with an activated ability. Cycling is conveniently an activated ability. It won't make the cycling cost for a Flourishing Fox cheaper, but it will make the cycling cost for a Dismantling Wave cheaper.
If you were playing a cat-tribal deck like Arahbo, Roar of the World you already fulfill the requirement so it being a companion is the most non-brainer move ever.
Its a nice cycling-matters card, very much a brawl or non-singleton format card. For commander its cute, but it takes too much effort to 1-soht a single player with this.
I still don't know what the exact hubbub is or was over Terese Nielsen, but apparently she was tuned into some rather dubious alt-right personalities on social media and a few aggressively left-leaning agitators caught on. She didn't actually say anything herself, from what I gather, and offered a rather contrite response to the larger community, but not before a lot of people swore off her art entirely.
Synopsis: Terese likes a single post on twitter. This triggers some people in the MTG community, notably Autumn Burchett. Autumn Burchett proceeds to be the main person who raises a stink about it and forms a twitter hate mob with others joining in. The most notable thing that happened was Autumn marking her Guru lands by scribbling out Terese's name on the artist credit and writing some rather unpleasant things on them. Terese puts out her letter. Eventually this leads to Wizards severing ties with Terese, as the company doesn't want the negative PR, and the people like Autumn who rose a stink got what they wanted through cancel culture.
11. Abilities which bring card(s) you own from outside the game into the game (such as Living Wish; Spawnsire of Ulamog; Karn, the Great Creator) do not function in Commander.
Quote from Wizards Website »
There are ten companions in Ikoria, each one a legendary creature whose companion ability lists a deck-building rule. That chosen companion doesn't start in your main deck. Rather, it's a card in your sideboard. (If you're playing casually without sideboards, it's just in your collectionoutside the game. All the same rules apply to it.)
So it makes you wonder what they have in store if they allow companions when it would otherwise just get blanked by rule 11.
still disappointed on how wotc moves further and further than red's removal original upside of being able to hit face.
I mean, Blitz of the thunder-raptor is a fine magic card, and will likely kill any creature it can target at any point in the game as it will be stronger and stronger as the game goes on....
but not being able to hit face mostly makes it into kinda a worse Doom Blade / go for the throat / Dreadbore.
what used to make red removal interesting was that it wasn`t ever a dead card, because if there was nothing to kill, you simply went to face... and I think it's quite sad the amount of specialized burn spells that exist today, most hits either creatures or face but not both.
Wouldn't have expected her to actually grow as a character. That is a welcome change from the split-personality disorder she had as either Vivien, the Ecoterroist or as Vivien Erwin, Reincarnated.
Don't worry, its not, and its encouraged as its part of the Hawaiian language.
Aloha has three contextual uses: Hello, Goodbye, Love.
Mahalo means "Thank you"
Mahalo Nui means "Thank you very much".
