You beat me to it! I played so much Doom/Doom 2 it was ridiculous. One of the first things I did when I bought my 40" HD after I hooked it up to the computer was rock some DOOM!
Crappin' Christ, some of these are ridiculous. I knew already that NPH was an apology for the past two sets, but damn. I am leaning towards fake though, but hoping wrong. Maybe someone REALLY put in the effort to make cards that were just weird/bad enough to throw us off, haha.
These may be borderline ridiculous with PhyrexiaB for its mana cost. Now every deck will be packing this card in their sideboard, including Caw-Blade and RUG.

I certainly agree with you. I have been very disappointed with the past two sets, MBS in particular. That said, I have questioned if they really are that bad, or are we just spoiled by everything since Ravnica being so awesome? When the weakest set from Ravnica through ROE has been arguably, Conflux, we could also be a little jaded by power level.
Um...is Urabrask as good as I am seeing, or am I just falling into the "Holy crap that's cool" trap? Preator's Grip seems dang cool too. Actually, quite a few of these cards seem like apologies for the past two sets. I've been really disappointed with the past two, but if this trend continues with NPH, I may buy a box at least.

that would be the MOST boring way to realize the five praetors. do you really think that wotc would take up HALF mythic slots on almost identical, standard unplayable fatties? not a chance.

When women stop paying insane amounts of money for a handbag that functions the same as one you could find at a yard sale or thrift store, we'll stop making fun of you for it. I get countless customers that can't find their credit cards, check books, etc because they "changed purses". I've used the same wallet for over 15 years now. How that crap started becoming a status symbol, I'll never know, but it's silly. At least an expensive car is functional and has intrinsic value.
So far as the Toolkit 2.0: There are a LOT of themes this time around. The one I got just seemed to be a bunch of random crap. Weren't there only like five themes for last years? My box was really watered down it seemed. I bought four of the ones last year, and each had a solid feel to it. This one just seemed like some veteran player giving a new kid a bunch of cards he didn't need anymore. Quite a bit of the same stuff that was in last years too. *shrug* I won't be buying multiples again this time around. With the Scars/Besieged packs in it, the value just isn't there. Good enough for a new player, certainly, but I wish I had just spent it on the red event deck in hindsight. I wish something like this had been around when I was a new player, instead of, ya know...Homelands...:-/

Ok, I'm not the one to go all gaga nutso over the slightest little assumed artistic symbolism, but I think it's interesting that while that has the Mirran watermark, the Darksteel swirl makes it look like the Phyrexian symbol...

Um. That is exactly why. Ravnica was some good, after years of "meh" sets, in my opinion anyway. I barely cared at all about Magic for 3-4 years, except checking spoilers, till Ravnica came out, then I jumped back in something fierce.
I'm not a huge fan of the constantly changing plane story aspect of things, but I wasn't a fan of the Weatherlight crew either. However, I was a HUGE fan of Dominaria and Urza as a whole. I enjoyed the Ice Age books, the Urza books, and the off reads like Nemesis and Prophecy. They all brought out the various aspects of Dominaria and its cultures, while the Weatherlight books were more about the ship and characters themselves and frankly I don't care about Good Guy Gerrard :/.
I would really like to see more of certain planes. Three sets seems like too few at times. I would have loved to see more Alara and Zendikar, specifically. The third set mechanics get the short end of the stick too. Perhaps, a change back to the old rotation could help that. When a set come out, it bumps the prior respective set. Innistrad would only bump Zendikar, instead of the whole block, for those that don't remember/started playing after the change.

The answer is still no. No matter how many times you try to justify it. I'm sick of consolidation. I'm sick of merging accounts. I'm sick of crap like Arc and Glyph. I'm sick of websites asking for too much information. If I'm forced to merge MTG Salvation and Twitch, I just won't use either. Several people have mentioned not having Twitch accounts, and no desire to have one. This nonsense coupled with stifling, biased overmoderation on the site is going to be the death of it, and good riddance if that's the future.
It may be the "biggest", but does that matter when it's mostly atrocious? It's like dredging through a sewer to find jewelry that accidentally fell down the drain.
