Just buy the flippin' Karns. Might as well get them now rather than waiting several months to save $5

Edit: As a sidenote, I can't be the only crusty old S.o.B who wanted a return to Kamigawa or Lorwyn more than Zendikar, can I?

Kamigawa can die under a bridge, alone and forgotten in the bitter cold. I loved Lorwyn more than I could possibly love even my own child though. Probably my favorite block ever in my infinity years of playing Magic.

No surprize about the SJW not even knowing what neuronormativeness is.

    **** these people.

Not sure what I missed, but if we're anti-SJW, then I'm on board. Those people are a scourge to sanity.

    At any rate:

I can't remember the blonde lady's name, but I kept screaming at my phone for her to shut up.

Ojutai seems freaking awesome. I could be way off base because I've never been much of a control player, but he seems like a super sweet finisher that will just solidify your handle on the game.

Sarkhan seems good, but I have this crazy hangup when it comes to spells that are three colors. It just looks like a billion mana to me.

    Yay more crappy dragons.

Liliana is the bees knees. Both sides of that card are crazy good. Do want four of.

Speaking of Liliana, that one girl was...perky.

I'm glad 'Goyf is getting printed again, so now instead of $200, he'll be $199.95. Karn is cool too. My kingdom* for a Noble Hierarch reprint.

Hopefully the Battle for Zendikar announcement pushes the prices of fetches down a bit. I don't mind paying a bit extra to have them now rather than October, but $30+ is a bit much. Also, reprints would be likely to have icky flavor text. Ew.

*Kingdom not guaranteed to be of any value.

New liliana may have a home here. Thoughts?

I was about to say myself, if that's going to be a print card, she seems to slot right in to this deck.

Oh. A bad Bogardan Hellkite. Cute.

It's a billion to cast, why can't it hit players?

The Command has awesome modes, but five mana is rough. Does Wizards forget that they left the days of control decks leaving five mana open long in the past?

The elemental is terrible. Stone cold bad. Wizards please no Morph ever again. Could have made him a middling to decent rare at just the three to cast and the power and toughness shifting abilities. If you blink the guy, it's going to cost six total to save him? Morph is so bad. Just stop please.

Roast is sweet. I'll absolutely be putting that in my box of cards for Modern Burn. Combust and Roast now give that deck plenty of ways do deal with obnoxious big dudes.

Finally, HUZZAH for Ultimate Price. Five mana removal spells my albino Chewbacca looking arse.

My buddy and I were talking Magic Christmas Land about Ojutai's Command earlier. It could be a decent two-of perhaps in the U/W Merfolk builds. Draw a card, bring back a Silvergill, draw off of that, Vial in a Lord would be hilarious. Counter your Rhino, bring back a Lord. All kinds of good times. It could really throw off combat math, makes Phantasmal Image more resilient. All kinds of shenanigans.

    Four mana though, oof.

Exploit doesn't even feel like it needed a keyword.

C'mon man, dont'cha know? Keyword all the things. I agree though, Exploit, Chroma, etc are pretty much a waste of space on a card.

New Command looks sweet in theory. Perhaps it will find a home. Can't wait to see the others.

Protip: The Ignore User function makes this thread readable.

Rebound returning is cool. Cue: ERMAGHRD RETURN TO ZANDIKR though.

Can we be done with Morph for like, ever please.

Stratus Dancer looks freaking ridiculous. I suck at evaluating cards though, so it is likely a turd. Sidisi seems pretty serious too.

At any rate, I'm just waiting for all of this to blow over so I can hurry up and be disappointed by Magic: Origins. Yay more dudes dry humping other dudes because "player interaction".

Maybe I'm tired from my new job. Maybe I'm just getting old. Maybe it's this block having THREE FREAKING FLAVORS OF A CRAP MECHANIC. I do not know, but I am very unenthusiastic about this block as a whole.

Oh well, we shall see what tomorrow brings.

    Quote from mondu_the_fat »

Compare this to the era of revised to urza. There was powersink, arcane denial, Force of Will, counterspell, etc. And yet blue control packing 16(!) or so couterspells wasn't _that_ frustrating to play again (it was stasis, tradewind rider, and capsize, and masticore that were the problem).

This could likely explain why I don't find counters and other control aspects to be a big deal. At least for me, WotC's ideal of "we can't make Magic unfun" is making Magic unfun. Revised to Urza was my heyday. Those were my high school years, and I can't help but play around control to this day. One of my good friends (Who I still keep in touch with now that we're in our mid 30's, Yay Magic!) always played classic style U/W control. It was annoying, for sure, but I had to develop a way to beat that.

I was never much of a control player (Sligh or Ponza was more my thing), but I genuinely miss the cards that Wizards calls "unfun". Fearing "grouchy old man" mode being on, making shareholders happy and Pokemon 2.0 has drained the enjoyment out of new sets for me.

That said, I do understand that WotC is painted into a corner in a way. For Legacy, Vintage, and Modern, the cream is going to rise to the top, and they have to be careful of what they're printing.

I haven't tested it yet due to not having had the time (and didn't see it when I skimmed through), but have any of you considered Keldon Marauders? The dude can end up doing two damage just by virtue of doing what he do, and if he connects or trades even once, he's pretty decent value, especially if Blood Artist is around.
