I think the confusion is that his posted decklist does have the full 8 racks.

I didn't follow the: "but no affliction, no racks with path to exile rampant?" Otherwise: Your wincons are weak and path, dispatch etc exile crawler, leaving you with lands vulnerable to bolts, electrolyze, etc. Just saying seems like a little disruption can ruin your plan pretty easy.

Night of Souls' Betrayal, which was used in protour appearances by our brethren (admittedly, non-creature builds), is there to fight the following: Infect, Affinity, Bogle, B/W tokens, Soul Sisters, and Storm - pyromancer ascension. Against a lot of these matchups, it's GG. Is there a conflict? Yup. Is it a major problem? Nope. Against some of these decks, it's game over, so there is NO conflict - I won. ((Quick Aside, I don't see the 4 cmc as a major deterrent, especially since it's a singleton.)) That means that maybe I draw it. Maybe I don't. It's only one card. If I do, it's mid/late game (for us). Maybe Dark Confidant sped up it's casting on guaranteed land drops and digging for it. Cool. I'll trade bobs for a clear cut game winning card all day.

Also, Mutavault doesn't lose out on its principal usage: land/mana. As for Gravecrawler or Bob for that matter, maybe they've been sided out, maybe not. Same thing is true for bob. Either way, it's one card. Again, it can be GAME. As for actual sideboarding: Spellskites for gravecrawlers are an easy switch to defense over offense.

When you sideboard you hope to get those cards in your opening hand, because potentially they are game changers. But Night of Souls' Betrayal on the board, you have 4 cards in your deck that can win for you? And at that point they are 1/1 Mutavaults? You think 4 1/1s are going to win you the game before they draw into Cranial Platings, Ornithopters, Master of Etheriums, Etched Champions, Galvanic Blasts, Ravager (with another creature on the board to instantly get a counter)?

Lolzzz that's right, my decklist comes with a very small red splash purely for Faithless Looting. With Faithless Looting it really does let us keep much less optimal hands. I have kept one land opening hands whenever I have Faithless. That said, honestly how does a Mono black Haakon list compare to a BR decklist - I'm in the BR camp though .....

Hi Nabby, I'm not seeing your BR list on the front page.
Do you mind posting it as I am rather interested in it.

hierarchs are essential. but you might play the slightly more instable version with city of brass/gemstone mine and assault strobe instead. does not need hierarchs.

Thanks Isho, I will look up that list! Grin

I imagine budget reasons, which is a terrible excuse. For those who were interested I started the primer for BUG Infect. Check it out and leave me your thoughts!

    Nice primer Chaqs.

Do you have any suggestions on cards to use if I cant get hierarchs?

@cdmagic: I agree that a large part of the game is to know which hands to play and which hands to mulligan. People need to learn to build correctly and fine tune ratios.

But nothing, including this game that we all play and love [that's why we are here discussing it afterall], is perfect:

I speculate that if you ask Richard Garfield what to change about mana in MTG, he would answer ''Nothing''...and he would be 100% right...

Garfield: There were a lot of things I wanted to improve on or at least do differently in Jyhad. After all - Jyhad was my second TCG, and I wanted to prove that TCGs were a form of game as potentially diverse as board games. Here are some of the things I wanted to change:
    • I wanted no land - I didn't like that Magic had about 40% boring resource cards in the deck.

Obtain a few items, 5 dry erase markers (red blue black green yellow), some extra sleeves, and some note cards. Cut the note cards to fit the sleeves, and use the marker to write what the token is and does. Reusable, cuts down on tons of extra tokens being carried.

    O_o I Love this!!!

    def doing that right now!

some new stuff from my side...It's getting really hard to find signed cards. Could it be that people start to collect them now??

My current goal is to finish 3 more completely signed sets in 2012...I am very close for Alliances, Fallen Empire and Legends...

Oh WoW! the Nethershadow is beautiful! Very jealous of that one. I've got a playset of signed ones from 4th but would love black border ones.

I picked this one up today, is there any real collector value to miscut cards?
You can even see the little guide cross at the top left where it was supposed to be aligned.
