This is the four hybrid symbols card. Makes sense that green is the shared color. I'm glad it's not another Niv-Mizzet with no storyline mention or implications.
Like most leylines, it's something I wouldn't be thrilled to hardcast but would be very nice to start the game with - in a deck with tough mana needs and/or one that has color synergies.
I think it would have been a lot more fun for "Presumed Dead" to be a zombie or skeleton creature card.
That would be amazing! Missed opportunity.
This is a bit weaker than other common versions of this effect we have seen, but I think it’s mainly that way and uncommon because of how good it can be with expensive cloak/disguise creatures. They want to keep the possibility alive in limited but not too frequent. We probably won’t get any common blink effects either.
though I’m a little confused on the wording shouldn't it be “until the end of your next turn”? Because cases are solved on endstep and I’m assuming you can't chose when to sacrifice it.
No, I'm pretty sure it just gains that ability once solved. It's not a trigger. So you can activate it at will.
My question is when you activate it, do creature cards that enter your graveyard after activation gain the recast ability? Because if so then it's really abuseable. Any repeatable sac outlet that can generate mana and you're off to the races.
Once you activate it, only creatures in your graveyard at the time the ability resolves gain the ability, so you can’t reloop creatures multiple times.
If it said “Sacrifice THIS: Until the end of turn you may cast creature cards from the graveyard.” then they could be cast repeatedly
Makes sense, thanks!
Not so much if an infinite loop piece then, but still a great value play.

Cannot take this card seriously when that's the art. Why the little hat. On an archon? This makes no sense, and it is bad.
Just have a sweet looking archon be the leader of the detectives. No need to put him in bad New Capenna drag.
Interesting how the card lets you sacrifice progress toward solving the crime (giving up clues) for self-preservation. Kind of actually fits with the vibe I was getting from him in the story tbh.
Ah, it's the big, green, lifegain creature and the white tapper for this set. The white tapper is usually common, maybe moved due to play boosters shifting rarity distribution.
There is often a common green lifegain fatty now too, though this has versatility enough worth of the uncommon slot. I assume there will be a more generic green big dude in the common slot this time.
Ok, this is actually a strong collect evidence payoff. It's going to be hard to get value from multiples or from other graveyard-matters cards, though.
I like the art, but not sure how performing a necropsy (an autopsy) lets you kill all your opponent's stuff. And doing one at instant speed, too!
I don't see how the leyline helps with evoke elementals, or anything that cares about the color of spells you casts or cards in your hand/graveyard.
It could be fun in domain or Valakut decks.

Card actually seems pretty good though!

I was thinking the same thing.
