Looking at the reprints of jumpstart and core 2021

Not only I think the suposive cards rudy found we're most likely real I think there gonna make the odds a lot better of getting a pack value back (still overpriced packs though especially the vip edition)

Where is this list of potential cards? Also, isn't Rudy the owner of Alpha Investments? Are we sure he is just not talking the cards up, so the finance people can move their cards?

Yeah 6/10s of that is Sultai that is doing the heavy lifting. Since they dediced to do activated abilities for the red and white one, they are litterally nonbos with their own lord. And the reasoning given was "we didn't want to repeat the same thing like the old shrines". So why not just make the white one have instead a "at the beginng of your upkeep, tap target creature with a converted mana of cost X or less, where X is the number of shrines you conrol" and also for the red one "at the beginning of your upkeep, you may discard a land card or shrine card. If you do, deal X damage to target creature or planeswalker, where X is equal to the number of Shrines you control."

Yeah, this sounds like a design fail, and they are just backtracking to justify it. Sanctum of All should have been worded as working with activated or triggered abilities of shrines to make all of them work.

This card has surely achieved some kind of meme status for being reprinted so many times.

It looks like this was printed to counter the overuse of Baneslayer Angel in constructed Standard. Maybe it might be a cycle of 5-mana creatures for each color?

Sterling Grove is an used in EDH Enchantress decks that are heavy on enchantments. Maybe, it's not quite a random pick by Wizards.

I still think the S99 version will hold some value, but will tank significantly, though I feel it could still be worth $100+ just due to scarcity. The M20 version is going to be a mythic based on leaks, so I can see it as a $10 card. It's really not a great card in Standard because 3 life isn't huge, and it's only 1 mana less than Diabolic Tutor which has seen numerous reprints over the years.

I would think Grim Tutor was a Commander plant, as that has been sought after in black-based decks.

While I agree that the price of this product is on the absurd end, there was an article on MTGGoldfish about how the set is for everyone, regardless of whether you buy a box or not, that raises some good points.

It raises some good points justifying Double Masters's existence, but it doesn't solve the reprint problem in the long term. Like other master sets, reprinted cards drop a little to a lot, but often go back up in price in a year. Also, why limit the box to whales and investors? And if the box is really valuable, people might hoard the boxes, preventing the cards from entering circulation on the secondary market. Also, as a commenter there pointed out, how can people who like the draft format play draft if the box is so expensive, because Wizards designs a draft experience for these sets, premium or not?

The only sustainable solution is to reprint more often. Pokemon and YuGiOh reprint often in a variety of products, and it's not harming their overall sales.

In some ways, Commander is probably the "safest" way to play with paper cards, since competitiveness is not a requirement.
Not really since there will be no LGSs left to go to due to the pandemic requiring everyone to continue social distancing. Do you know how hard it is to find playgroups for EDH / Commander without a place to meet-up at? That's like trying to get a game with someone younger than you at their house while their parents falsely suspect you of being a pedophile.

LGSes shutting down would also hamper any MTG paper format gathering. This isn't just restricted to the Commander format.

My original statement is that with a Commander deck, a player wouldn't need to rush to get every new product out there.

This oversaturation of basic product and introduction of exclusive Premium product is definately getting into Sports card territory.
I might regret it later but I'm pretty sure I'm about to bail on all my high end stuff, sell out before the collapse and continue our fun janky games every week with friends.

In some ways, Commander is probably the "safest" way to play with paper cards, since competitiveness is not a requirement. I am out of all competitive MTG formats. My collection of cards is just one Commander deck and its "sideboard" that I use to mix and match.

The box is already sold out on Amazon. As much as some of us want people to stop buying these things to send WotC a message that these products are overpriced, that's not what the market seems to indicate.

She’s supposed to be Indiana Jones, not Dick Tracy.

I feel the art direction is wrong on Tamiyo. Tamiyo is wearing a trench coat, which is common in detective settings. If this was supposed to be Indiana Jones, she should not be wearing a trench coat.

I agree, when have they EVER done a set just for reprints and forgot about Draft? Chronicles? They aren't concerned with getting us these cards we would like to have and they are totally in tune with the secondary market manipulators. Same old same old. Frown

I think it really was Chronicles as the last reprint set that didn't focus on draft, because it was the set that caused card prices to fall sharply at the time and prompted Wizards to establish the Reserve List policy. I can't find the history, but you can probably state that when the limited draft format was officially established, that's when draft booster sets came into focus.

Assuming dropping the DCI data is a computer architecture problem, it reminds me why Magic Online is not modernized. WotC went to create an entirely new client in Magic Arena. Same behavior: drop legacy product (or not enhance it) and start a new project.

This sounds like a cost-saving measure by Wizards. Wizards may have determined that the number of people affected by this forced migration is smaller than the "kitchen table casual" people who would sign up at the Wizards site as a new user.

Ideally, if they don't want to port the data over, they should keep the old site up in archival mode as a public service to its customers.

Does a good edh deck want this? The players I play with eon't play these because they enter tapped. They are too slow.

Facepalm you have got to be kidding me

Nearly Every single edh deck uses the tri-lands from alara or/and tarkir if 3 or higher on colors they use the ones they are reprinted to death in commander decksfor a reason

I have a 3-color EDH deck, and I would try to run any land that produces any of my colors that enters the battlefield untapped before I would run the triomes. Playing a ETBT land in the early turns is fine, but if you draw ETBT lands late game, it can make the difference between winning and losing, even in more casual settings.

However, these are definitely the best ETBT color-fixing lands Wizards has made and worth getting if alternatives are too expensive or unavailable.
