How the frack is young pyromancer going into the 15th reprint without a change of the terrible art? Seriously - an all reprint set like this should have a lot more new art to make cracking packs anything other than lottery tickets for chase rares.
Pretty sure firsttwo cards are mono-white now. The lasttwo are staple black effects, though.
Dirge was a planar chaos take on kor chant showing that the card was almost in Black's color pie. Sudden spoiling resembles a blue effect mass diminish more than humble but that one seems to bleed either way (sorceress queen, humility, etc)
Nothing about any of these cards strikes me as strong or empowered. Family man Teferi is the biggest win of the bunch - but I would much rather see more "Nick Cage/Black Panther" than "Fat Albert" for the artistic style. This would have also been a great opportunity to (as much as I disagree with the removal of Terese Nielsen) to kill two birds with one stone so to speak. Make Angel of Jubilation, Descendant's path, essence warden, eternal witness, intimidation - just kidding lol, force of will!!! -that would have been a game changer, and show a real dedication to the charity/theme, mother of runes, or pattern of rebirth.
It truly is too bad that we used our scales of judgment for...well.. judgment. The owl of wisdom is so terrible - it really has ruined quite a few judge promos that I would have otherwise sought out.
That Stoic Farmer is a joke, it's worse than Kor Cartographer, it's only upsides are Foretell and being 3/3 but still... what a let-down. Also why is Tales of the Ancestors blue and not white? This card would fit in White both thematically and mechanically, what a waste.
The other cards are cool though.
First, if you wanted a kor cartographer effect in your deck, you probably wouldn't mind a 2nd. Secondly, I don't know - this is like saying that light up the stage is bad because jeska's will exists. Both sets of cards have a similar place in the decks that want those effects, but situationally each comparable card can be better than the other. This isn't comparing grizzly bear to scavenging ooze.

Foretell is a BIG upside. You can cast Stoic Farmer with only 2 lands, where you can only cast Kor Cartographer once you're at 4 mana. In *most* formats, if you're at 4 mana in white, you should have better things to do. In those other formats such as Commander, Farmer isn't an Either/Or with Cartographer, it should be an And.
Yeah, but on Turn 2 in EDH, you are more than likely to just cast a mana rock and not foretell a card. Foretelling this will cost you your turns 2 and 3 to just ramp once, that's almost worse than Cartographer's Hawk. I understand that you want consistency but beyond Solemn Simulacrum and Kor Cartographer, do you need a third 4-drop that ramps? There is also Keeper of the Accord at 4 mana. This could easily have been a functional reprint of Knight of the White Orchid and it would have been great.

That gives a roughly 35% chance that you will have a turn 2 rock play - hardly excluding the use of that mana for foretelling.
Is it just me or does she look Asian with Tarkir-themed art
The eyes look slightly asian, but that thin, sharp nose is definitely what you would see on earth from someone from a cold, dry geographical ancestry - like scandinavia (just science - thin noses with small nostrils warm and humidify air leading to a better chance of survival/fewer diseases). She certainly looks remarkably tall, another stereotypical "viking" trait - as well as being rather fair-skinned. My guess, however, without being able to see her hair would be Siberian (blond hair would inch it back towards NW europe). But...I fully agree with you on the outfit having a more Tarkir feel to it.
man... this is a stupid parasitic mechanic....
I mean, just 5 runes, and like 2 cards that mention them? why even bother, really?
we had less support for cartouche/trial in amonkhet and yet the red/white cartouche were actually fairly important in standard and hugely important in limited. To judge a card/cycle from "your format" - be it standard, edh or whatever is a very limited view. I doubt it will really find a spot - but the doom foretold decks are presently running lithoform blight for the cantrip aspect - and these could perform a similar function. I think these will actually do some heavy lifting honestly - we just have to see how the meta settles after the release.
Really? The demon berserker is a full fail flavor wise. He gets stronger from threatening his friends (your creatures) talking about the entrails they sent flying, but your opponent's angels talking about the kittens they saved does nothing to provoke him. He should have been random limited garbage (only trigger off opponent boast) or maybe a small metagame use (trigger off all critters). Or...his flavor txt should have been something else. This is card number, what, 15 that has a flavor txt that while passable as a story has absolutely no connection to the ability of the card.
The omenkeel seems rather insane. Truly lends itself towards a game that is over before it begins if you have a turn 2 omenkeel and your opponent has no meaningful answer - starting turn 4 with 5,6 or 7 mana is a very dangerous place for your opponent. It reminds me of smuggler's copter - not the evasion but a sense of inevitability if it connects a couple times.
3 power for 2 mana is a great rate. Triggering only on elves and berserkers may have been a necessary addition in a playtest world that included cooking a lot of cats. We've had a few of these since grim haruspex but I believe this is the first at 2 mana and seems like it could really do some work.
I suppose you could abuse Aegar's ability if you could set up some sort of "infinite ping" scenario on an indestructible creature.
No, maybe not--the source has to be giant, wizard, or spell. Still....Niv-Mizzet, Parun, if you can get there. HJit an indestructible creature for excess, draw from the giant, ping from the dragon wizard becuase of the card draw, repeat.
So if I Blasphemous Act, does that count at a spell dealing damage or does there have to have been a previous spell dealing the damage? My gut say no, but the effect is out of the ordinary
Blasphemous act + this guy = decree of pain. Sadly, this is a nonbo with irencrag pyromancer - I keep hoping for that card to be relevant but it just can't get there.

What? You didn't like the guy chugging a vodka he raided from the mini bar? Yeah - I guess you are right - that card will look amazing in foil.
Add a stuffy doll and the combo does a good impression of...curiosity.

Abuse me, Funeral Ship of the Necromancer
crew 1
You may exile a creature card in your graveyard rather than pay the crew cost
Whenever Abuse me deals combat damage to an opponent you may return a card exiled with abuse me to the battlefield tapped
