Other interesting thing is the last ability. If I am understanding it right, you can just keep activating it which gives her not only an additional +2/+2 in counters, but also another damage draw trigger.
Pay SSS, get SSS back. At least it can't hit players as that would make it one of the most busted burn spells ever printed. Tap three snow lands, cast Tundra Fumarole, get SSS back, cast another Tundra Fumarole, get even more SSS back, keep doing this until you run out of Tundra Fumaroles or burn spells and eventually mana for the turn.
My French is not the best, but I think the final chapter of the saga says "choose a creature or planeswalker. Each creature with power 4 or more you control deals damage equal to its power to that permanent."
Also, is the transformation to a 4/4 permanent? Can't tell.
French speaker here, small correction to the translation in the first post
The Bears of Littjara 1GU
Enchantment - Saga
I - Create a 2/2 blue Shapeshifter creature token with changeling.
II - Any number of target Shapeshifter creatures you control are power and toughness 4/4 (-> doesn't say until EOT)
III - Choose up to one target creature or planeswalker. Each creature with 4 or more power deals damage to that permanent target equal to its power.
Mystical Reflection 1U
Instant
Choose target non-legendary creature. The next time at least one creature or planeswalker enters the battlefield this turn, they enter as a copy of the chosen creature.
Foretell U
Ah so its less bonkers than the initial translation.
Reidane, God of Justice: "Hah! Take that! My mere presence makes your lands of snow enter tapped." Jorn, God of Winter: [Plays a snow land, it enters play tapped. Then Strolls forward and his snowland untap.] "You were saying?"
Doesn’t that saga make your creatures kill each other if no opponent has something with 4 power?
Potentially yes. It also makes your opponents creatures do the same thing. As it doesn't state your creatures do this, just that each creature does it if has 4 or more power.
Everyone talking about it as a one time removal or one time copy for your own stuff. They miss out on the big factors. Its instant, and its 2 mana. Which means it can be socketed into a Isochron Scepter. If you want to have a creature enter the battlefield as a legendary that isn't itself legendary, use Spark Double. If you want a reliable way each turn to create a copy, use token generators like Awakening Zone.
Aftershock: The OG 4 mana destroy a land or artifact, but it also could destroy a creature. Punched you in the gut for 3 as thats hard removal, not damage based removal. Demolish: At first wasn't so bad, but soon became the most generic and reviled of the bunch with its many reprints. Sunder from Within: Looks similar to Demolish on the surface except it has Arcane, which meant other cards could at least splice onto it to bolster its effects. Icefall: Looks similar to Demolish except it was actually reusable. Violent Impact: The cycling variant of Demolish.
Then we come to...Smashing Success: Its technically better than Demolish. And it does reward you with mana, but it feels like the land destruction is the tacked on part as you can tell with how the card is designed they don't even want to reward the player with a singular treasure chest for doing so. Probably because of Goldspan Dragon but that thing already creates broken nonsense so its their own fault for printing that dumb dragon.
Agree with that. With Bones the worst thing is all the players have no hands, but there still be chance of top deck to save the game, but with this ridiculous God, only one Mindslicer will end the game instantly and there's almost no chance to survive.
to say nothing of the back, put a win con and the ability to untap itself, seriously?
I think this card should be banned for the same reason they banned black Braid. It's hard to counter and it destroys the game experience.
If you manage to make your opponent discard a card they drawn for that turn before its their main phase, you also lock them out that way unless the card in hand is an instant and has any legal targets it needs.
Main reason he is not red is technically he would be a two-card combo with Aggravated Assault. Also it may not be the snow legend you like however. This just encourages Narset, Enlightened Master shenanigans as you get extra combats by utilizing extra turn spells like Time Warp. Even Savor the Moment is good with him as he can just untap your snow lands. Expect to see him played with Expropriate and the Jorn player to be a big target.
What's the deal with the mill part of that red counterspell? I feel like it makes the design needlessly complicated and doesn't add anything.
EDIT: Is it to prevent abuse but without having to shuffle a library? If it's for that, that seems silly.
Simple: To screw over Sensei's Divining Top shenanigans that your opponent is utilizing.
That seems awfully specific, why not just mill the top 3 or 4 cards immediately then?
Because Wizards loves their randomness. See Haktos the Unscarred or Crystalline Golem. The randomness is supposed to be fun. And to an extent it is from a casual point of view. On average your looking at 1.5 cards milled. This can also screw over btw cards that tutor and put that card on top of their library such as Vampiric Tutor.
