I appreciate your answer! I was hoping that would be the case. Liege of the Tangle is way better this way. I just got mixed up because Unnatural Selection is unusual in that it replaces the target's subtypes with your choice, making them not have their original subtype. Since Nissa, Worldwaker's ability doesn't say "In addition to other type and abilities" or something to that effect I was worried about the replacement.

I am wondering what happens if Nissa, Worldwaker uses her first ability on a land creature that already has other abilities.
Say you have Ashaya, Soul of the Wild in play, and you target a creature like Fertilid? Would Fertilid retain its activated ability? Or does it just become a meaty 4/4 Trample with some +1/+1 counters on it? For Awakened lands that are 0/0 with counters this could be super useful, but for man lands this could be a huge waste.

Say you have Gor Muldrak, Amphinologist in play, and Unnatural Selection.
Once someone declares an attacker, if you use Unnatural Selection's ability to change its creature type to Salamander...
    What happens then?
Does the attack become illegal and they have to change their declaration?
Does it attack anyway and just deal no damage?
Are these two separated by timing?

  • posted a message on reducing toughness after damage is dealt
If a creature's toughness is reduced to the point where the damage they have already taken this turn would have killed them at the new toughness do they die?
Example: dealing 1 damage to chromium, the mutable, which then uses its discard a card ability to become a 1/1 with hexproof. does that one damage which now equals its toughness kill chromium?

Using card tags is mandatory in the Magic Rulings forum. Please check your private messages to learn how to use them. I've added them for this post.
