I'm glad it's only one set. Battle and Oath are the worst Magic sets i've ever seen.
They’re pretty bad, but both Theros sets are abysmal from a power level perspective.
The original Theros set was one of the worst since like Prophecy,
though the Mythics helped it a bit.
Hopefully we won't see another simic broken card, can't even play arena right now, thanks to temur reclamation shenenigans
Oh boo hoo... Simic suffered through almost 20 years of total irrelevance after the original flash in the pan, GU Madness. God forbid we actually have the most broken card in a few formats for once. Oko, Uro, and Krasis are the harbingers of a less *****ty Simic to come, and I strongly dislike how they’ve been singled out for hating on.
They seem to like Long Term Plans these days—
sort of like how we have 2-3 cards from Double Masters even though it’s still a ways off.
It releases in less than a month.
Yeah, but we got the first card spoils like a month ago,
with no new info since then (aside from the possible leak).
My point was that nowadays, they seem to like giving a tiny taste of spoilers for sets that won’t be out for a couple of months.
It’s probably their way of combatting the Covid blues.
This eventually will crash the Paper market. Even "collectible" cards won't be the hot items anymore once everyone is playing digitally
Digital Magic is not at an acceptable level to replace paper yet, imo.
Arena is the most developed option,
and it has a mere *fraction* of the total available card pool.
It’s fine for Standard or Brawl (lol),
but the EDH crowd isn’t going to be satisfied with how Arena is currently.
Of course they could eventually get all of the paper cards into Arena,
but they haven’t seemed terribly interested in that so far.
^ While some decline in card value is likely,
I know quite a large number of folks in my regular EDH group are still getting together for games,
and Zoom is a real factor, too.
And that’s saying nothing of investor types who would likely react by scooping up half priced Mana Crypts and such.

Guess it’s because I *just* bought a full-frame copy,
and for once they didn’t want me to feel like an idiot?

Sure, but forgive me if a conditional 3/3 Lifelink for 1W doesn’t excite me.
There are Planeswalkers too, if nothing else.
Like it or not, this legend is new design space that is super welcome for many players.
My only complaint is him not being UB.
Does this mean Rhystic Study is Standard/Modern-legal now?
And are there any foils in JMP?
especially since I have several decks which run Riptide Laboratory to recur the ‘mancer.
Its only flaw is that it can’t be used to cast promo Elesh Norn, the Cenobite
That’s too bad in the case of several of these lands
