It's a good card nonetheless. Nowhere near Goblin Lackey though. The fact that it isnt a one drop does hurt it quite a bit. There aren't too many good goblins at the moment so it's actually not that great a card.
It could still see play. Though I wonder what kind of price a card like this would reach.
Um, so I guess some asshat stole my Stillmoons and Canonists after my last FNM... and I'm going to a PTQ tomorrow morning. I'm going to have 4x Harm's Way in the board and I was wondering if I should include Moonglove Extract for the mirror. It's the only solution to their Stillmoons that I can afford. What would you put in your SB if you didn't have either of the aforementioned cards?
Mine right now is:
4x Harm's Way
4x Moonglove Extract
2x Mirrorweave
4x Lapse of Certainty
1x Burrenton Forge-Tender
I appreciate any suggestions youd like to make
I'm guessing you can't afford 4x Silence either. It's a fairly pricey card right now and it seems to be the only card similar enough to Canonist to help against combo elves. Of course Canonists are preferred but I guess you can't just magically make the appear. After getting clobbered by combo elves a few times when I assumed no one was playing it, I've put Canonist back and I just feel a lot safer. That matchup is close to unwinnable without them. Silence could help in other matchups as well.
Extract is just so bad. It's just a sacrifice artifact that doesn't do anything except hope to kill a stillmoon. It's a reaction card and this deck is all about action. I dont like it...unfortunately, I can't think of anything that could replace it. Mirrorweave could actually help you kill the stillmoons though. So maybe that's worth looking into. I'd really avoid moonglove altogether.
just a small question, how needed are the stillmoons at the moment, I know they are great in the mirror but thats the only MU i want em in.
and i at the moment i dont excpect to play a lot of mirrors tbh.
I was thinking about siding in it in in the Baneslayer control match aswell or am i wrong there?
Actually, I've been siding them in against RB decks that pack tons of removal and they're great.
-4 goldmeadow
-3 Ajani
-1 MirrorWeave
+4 BFT
+4 Stillmoon
Those decks pack so much removal that i want to have critters on the board all the time even if its just one. Eventually, I should overwhelm them with tokens and protection creatures.
I'd expect GW tokens to be another matchup where Stillmoon would be useful. Though I've yet to play against it so I can't say for sure.
Not sure about Baneslayer control matchup though.
The ability isn't all bad. You can discard a non burn spell to this so long as it's red and it will deal 4 to your opponent. It does make her much more burn oriented than she was before since she turns everything red into 4 dmg bolts. She is pretty expensive to cast though...
I like the idea, but discarding a card does seem kind of strange. With such an ability, I look forward to seeing the rest of her abilities.
What about trying Thoughtweft Trio in the sideboard as an additional threat against combo elves? I know Ethersworn Canonist is great against them but Trio can also create problems. How many would you guys suggest?
By the time you can get trio in you could already be dead. A 4cc card to stop combo elves? Doesn't sound like it would work out very well.
Look at all the decks like Boat Brew and even BW tokens who had their manabase drastically altered after tenth edition rotated out, those decks are barely competitive anymore. 5cc had a HUGE advantage with the vivids and pools for any color mana. Combined with filters, this was pretty solid. I don't see 5cc playing all those CIPT and doing good with it. 5cc will pretty much just die. Zendikar is moving away from multicolor.
Maybe it's a land destruction land-fall ability. Judging from the art, it looks like she's tearing stuff up. M10 had the bar set pretty high in terms of casting cost for land destruction, it was at 5 to destroy 1 land. So I could see her as an LD option considering her cc.
I'm not seeing too many Volcanic Fallouts thrown at my critters. I saw a couple Firespouts but no more. Needless to say, I'm not MD'ing my BFTs. I do have them in the SB, thats pretty much a must! In my case, it's a meta call because red doesnt really run those types of sweepers. G2 I'm always seeing Deathmark, Doomblade, Terminate and maybe even Lightning Bolt. Fallout never sees play.
Unless you have lots of red in your meta, i wouldnt go ahead and put BFT MD. I think the issue is pretty much just a meta call. In my case, BFT goes in the side.
It's OK... nothing great. Pushes mono-color yes. Gives RDW an endgame... yes. More than a $2-3 card in my eyes? No. Red needs more burn to be effective. We thought getting ball lightning would warp the format... man we were wrong. Spot removal ftw. I don't see this pushing RDW to tier 1, or even close.
This definitely won't be the card to push RDW to tier 1. It's so late game, something RDW isn't too thrilled about getting to. I dont think I'd want to run it in a RDW either unless i was somehow ramping. Way too slow.
That ultimate is distinctly worse then her previous form.
I know this because with the more expensive casting cost, they would go off on the same turn, and on the same turn, I would much rather have 10 damage then 5.
Definitely would prefer 10 dmg than 5 dmg that 'can't be prevented'.
I really want her +1 or +2 to be a good burn spell like Incinerate or even just a simple bolt. That way, she'd at least be playable in a burn deck. Depending on what Zendikar brings, burn decks might be really viable.
Her ultimate being obliterate would be fitting. Would really like to see this
how do we deal with Llawan, Cephalid Empress besides countering it i haven't been able to find a solution because the sliver build side this and artifact removal in against merfolk so even when i have jitte it gets removed
You can still Vial in creatures even with this in play. So if you weren't able to counter it, try to keep your Vial in play. Of course they side in artifact removal so that won't be as easy as it sounds. Mutavault seems like it would be pretty important in this situation, not to mention its also a Sliver!

Sorry I can't be of more help.

They have Tendrils of Corruption but that's not quite as good as Corrupt.

Yes, Sanguine Bond does seem to have some nice synergy in there too

I would definitely think pulse would have better odds than banefire.
