Hey folks, I'm new here and I've been working on a Golos, Tireless Pilgrim deck I wanted some help on. I've been vacillating between a few different lands matters generals and when Golos was spoiled I thought, "great, I no longer have to decide which of these to make my general, I can just shove them all in the same deck." I wanted to avoid the whole Maze's End thing and just focus on lands. I think I'm close to being ready to put this together in paper but I'm about 8 cards short and don't know how I want to finish off the deck. So I'm turning to the forum for advice and suggestions.
Also, there's a few obvious includes like Crucible of Worlds and Exploration that I don't have in here but would if I could afford it or thought I could trade for it easily. Most of what's here are things I either already have due to stupid luck (like Scroll Rack) or things I'm sure I can acquire easily (like Yarok, the Desecrated)
My fear is that we're going to back door into Lorwyn again but after Oona did more shenanigans to make it a 3rd different world this time that has humans somehow.
I was actually getting excited for the idea of Kaldheim. Could still happen I guess but we'll have to wait for this weekend to see what's up.
Painter is unbanned now, so that’s always a thing to do
Which is, hillariously one of the things that's making me consider the Grand Architect/secondary artifact route more. It cuts out a step on the combo, it's another 2 mana artifact that can be tutored by a couple of the transmute cards I think I want and just incidentally works well with Oona.
Run a lot of artifact ramp- 15-20 pieces. You want to get Oona out early and keep up protection
Play a lot of two-card infinite mana combos. Probably all of them.
Aggressively tutor for Urborg to make big black mana better.
Ideally, you want to include Palinchron since it can go infinite with a lot of lands that tap for multiple mana.
This is not a 75% deck. This is going to be cEDH or 90%. There is nothing about this deck that is fair, the only thing that differentiates the power level will be the number of tutors and the number of free counterspells you run.
I had an Oona deck years ago. I think it can be potent without being that powerful (especially with some of my budget restrictions) but I appreciate the input. Sounds like a lot of folks are suggesting the artifact route.
Looking for a bit of help. As the title suggests I'm looking to build Oona, Queen of the Fae. A little context first.
Years ago I had an Oona deck. I took it apart to build other things but it's been a long time since I built mill and wanted to come back to it but I feel I'm not sure where to go with her. I want to build Oona as a fairly powerful deck that can make ludicrous amounts of mana or go infinite if it must to mill out an entire table but definitely don't need it to be cEDH level powerful.
Then there's some versions I've seen that seem to blend the mill with artifacts to have a very strong artifact theme in the deck going infinite with things like Dramatic Reversal + Isochron Scepter or Grand Architect + Pili-Pala. This could work and I've got a few cool artifact cards sitting in my collection not doing much of anything, but it feels a bit like it conflicts with my Sydri, Galvanic Genius EDH deck I've already got (even though that list is really tight right now).
Basically I'm a bit spoiled for choice and I'm not sure how to pick a direction. I'd appreciate some people's thoughts on how to go about brining Oona back into my arsenal. Also, for the artifact route, how do you folks here feel about having decks in your arsenal that share related but different themes like an Artifact deck focused on combos and a mill deck that uses artifacts to aid in the mill process? Do you find that you get bored and the decks feel too samey or is the devil in the details if they play differently enough?
I'll look into Notorious Throng. The Guildpact Informant might be a nice counterpoint to Thrummingbird, especially since I'm not fond of Flux Channeler in my goldfishing but I'll need to actually assemble the deck and test. I've considered Corrupted Conscience in the past and it was in another version of this list. Might be worth slotting back in to try but it REALLY makes me wish Psychosis Crawler dealt damage instead of causing the opponents to lose life.
One of the interactions I really like (at least in theory) is Psychosis Crawler and Stolen Identity. Especially for a lower power meta getting to copy the crawler over and over again can add up quick. The thing I REALLY want for this deck is Extraplanar Lens.
What would you recommend cutting for the Conscience and the Throng?
I've been messing with a version of this deck inspired partially by yours. I'm considering Blade of Selves since my deck has an infect subtheme. Also, if equipped to a clone could allow for some interesting shenanigans. What are your thoughts on that as an option. I'm worried it might be a bit too slow.
Blade is a card that I've always considered, but my main concern is the amount of aggression it can defer onto you, especially with infect. Whilst I think this deck can do well in a multiplayer setting attacking everyone equally is not my general gameplan. What sources of Infect and Proliferate are you running? I might even look at the War of the Spark card Guildpact Informant from the Jace Planeswalker deck to further my means in a deck like that. In addition, could I see your decklist pretty please.
We had similar thoughts on the blade. As for the list, it's still a work in progress. I'm finding some of the same things as you in my goldfishing tests (that Tezz may not be something I want here for example). I like where it's going at the moment but I'm also seeing that this is a deck that's going to take time to learn how to play and get into the right mindset for its play pattern. Also, one of the big problems I have is that I don't have access to some of the cards I'd like to use. Jitte's exclusion here is part of that. If I could ever manage to get one it's an obvious inclusion but since this is intended as more of a 5-6 power level deck it's less of a priority. List is here
EDIT
I'd also like to say that so far, Mist-Syndicate Naga seems absolutely amazing. If you drop it in tapped and attacking off of Tetsuko on turn 3 it can get out of hand pretty fast assuming nobody's got a board wipe.

I'm planning on using him as a lands commander. I was going back and forth over whether to make a Sultai lands deck, a Jund lands deck, a 4 color lands deck with Ydris at the healm or some blueless concotion. Now I can just run 5 colors and be done with it. Plus I've never built a 5 color deck before so this'll be fun.
Everytime I see posts like this I'm reminded of the truth that Wizards has noted time and time again that giving the players everything they want isn't always a good idea. Mostly because too many of us don't actually know what we want and whine incessantly. Sometimes incomplete cycles are necessary. The fact it chafes some players is understandable but a necessary sacrifice.
I've been looking for a Jeskai pillofort general who isn't Zedruu for some time. If nothing crazy comes up in the fall set I might just go with this guy.
Do not know how I feel about this one. Could be interesting in the kind of land sacrifice decks I like but might set you back too far even in EDH. Definitely don't see this being that good in limited.
I'm pretty enthused for Goros. I'd been going back and forth over to who to make my lands matter general in EDH and thought I'd go with Ydris. Instead I can go with this, play all the cool lands matter stuff and get my first 5 color general.
Here's the list and what I've got in my maybeboard at the moment
