    R4: L 2-0 vs B/W Persist Tokens
    R5: W 2-0 vs Esper Beats
    R6: W 2-0 vs Jund Ramp

I actually took Llonawars out of the jundelves I am playing. Simply because cascading into them just really sucks. They are really only good for turn1 or turn2 drops, but I'd rather drop a wren's run turn 2 anyways. I also run a few CITP lands, so having a llonwar and a savage lands/treetop in hand is kinda like, womp womp womp... I've only played it in 1 tourny so I guess I'll see how things go in the next few.

Oh, you've got quite a good point about Cascading into something small. There are no cards with Cascade in this deck. It's not a problem. Don't try to apply another deck's problems to this one and cut a card in this deck. "Llonawar" elves are in because they accel into 4 converted cost fatties and the added speed helps you cast them before your opponent can play cast Cryptic Command.

The times when Infest would be more beneficial to use are not as common as the times where Fallout would be more beneficial. So while Fallout isn't anywhere near strictly better, it's going to be better currently in this format and should be played over Infest in decks that can play either one.

Alright, I'm back after a hiatus to find people debating about whether to take Thoughtseize out of the deck. First, Thoughtseize doesn't have to happen Turn 1 to be effective, and a Turn 1 Thoughtseize is one of the best turn 1 plays in this format. You want to get rid of stuff like Scullers and Bitterblossoms, as well as figuring out what's a good time to play Maelstrom Pulse. And taking a peek at your opponent's hand and seeing stuff like Zealous Persecution is always tech.

I don't know why people want this deck to become fast aggro. Fast aggro is best played with Kithkins. If you don't want to play a midrange deck, don't play this deck. I know the pros say that midrange is bad right now, but this deck's been showing up in too many Top 8s for its relatively low popularity to ignore. Yes, pros are wrong alot of the times.

You'd think that if this forum pertained only to B/G elves then perhaps it would say so in this thread's title rather than merely 'elves'?

    Quote from Shinjutsei
This thread is to discuss Elves and its variants in Standard. Here is a sample decklist:

This deck plays lots of powerful, Rock-style spells to compliment its powerful creaturesbase which allows the deck to shift easily from control to aggro.

Keep all posts on-topic. Decks posted in this thread are to be of similar design and all posts herein are to be related to this archetype. Anything else will be marked as spam and infracted.

That "Decks posted in this thread are to be of similar design and all posts blah blah related to the archetype" thing pretty much sums it up that this deck should be GB, white splash is still pretty close, but then there's the doran rock thread. Elf-ball is still technically elves, but it doesn't play the same way and there's another thread for it.

Fortunately, thanks to mindbending advances in visual recognition technology, I secured a lucrative grant from the Burbank Arts, Music, and Wife-Swapping Institute to determine precisely which celebrities look like busty chicks with swords from collectible card games. After much deliberation, analysis, and microwave pizza fingers, my team of scientists and postulateurs came up with the following results:

It ending up costing the government about fifty million dollars to publish these findings, but you'll agree it was money well spent. Grin

    This is hilarious. GG, sir.

I checked both mentioned art of Chippy and their heads are done neatly. I'm not pointing anything about the pose exactly, it's her head that's pretty noticable. I mean even in most anime most of the heads are very proportioned (unless the anime is using a deformed style i.e. Chibi). I did a quick paintover in Photoshop:

But if you think that the original's head is fine and you're firm with that i guess i can't argue anymore. :/ Sorry for the nitpicking. :p

It was fun trying out your "can you spot the difference between these two pictures" puzzle.

Generating creatures is far better than trying to control your opponent against 5CC. Just use your Thoughtseizes and Scullers to take the cards that can make a difference, and use something like Elspeth to generate more tokens after mass removal. You're gonna get a sweeper or 2 played against you vs 5CC, so just take them like a man and rebuild.

It seems like terror would be better in all of these cases, but worse against fringe decks like B/G Elves

Oh, cmon. We've played enough BW tokens vs Elves games for you to know that we love that turn 4-5 hardcasted Cloudthresher offered by the Path to Exile. As far as this deck is concerned, playing against Elves should be just like playing against Manaramp.

It's mostly because T2 has the younger players and they tend to be the whiney players. I've never seen anyone over age 25 that acted cocky.

so is mark of asylum bad because you want rdw to burn your dudes instead of you?

my sb has 3 pithing needles cuz we got planeswalker.dec and fulminator.dec around here...

    2 elspeth
    1 head games
    3 pithing needle
    3 wrath
    4 bft
    2 wispmare

also, isnt infest better than wrath since we usually just killing little kithkin/elves/mirror with it?

    1. We went through this already for like 2 pages. Mark of Asylum is good, but BFT can hold off red creatures indefinitely, and Shinjutsei thinks that's the best thing evar, so I'm listening to him.

    2. About Infest- maybe kithkins, but Elves will just laugh at you for playing infest, especailly when there's a colossus or cloudthresher stomping the board. Plus your creatures die no matter what removal it is, so you might as well make sure EVERYTHING dies. Just stick to Wrath, and you're good to go.

I dont see how 5cc is fragile while almost every non-land draw is major.Sweeper, removal, insane creature.

Bad play aren't that bad either in comparaison to fairy. With fairy if you missplay, you will probably have to live with it the rest of the game, with 5cc? Just sweep and repeat...

What kinds of opponents are you playing against? Sub-1600 rated budget kithkin players?
