As for tokens, Myr Battlespere gives you additional tokens to turn into something better. I agree Tyrant seems like a good include. Steel Hellkite can be decent as removal and a beater (and is also something worth turning your tokens into if you can make a token of it).

Darksteel Forge makes sense as a form of protection though it is on the high side for cost.

Sneak Attack, Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, and a big threat like Inferno Titan (or the aforementioned Steel Hellkite) can be decent to get a quick army with any other tokens you have.

Oh yea, I am running kiki with zealous conscripts and pestermite. Decent win cons.
I am also running Cackling counterpart and Splinter twin which will alow me to get tokens of creatures.

Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer was my (And probably many others') answer to RU. Izzet has always been a spellslinging pairing and Brudiclad broke the mold, not nly fcusing on artifacts (Like Saheeli) but giving us a whole new way to play RU.

Now my main issue is trying to figure out which Token generators i need or should run. My main plan is to go with a thopter/myr or goblin theme and throw in some biggies (Desolation twin) So i have a finisher or two. Helm of the host for Brudiclad so I can generate a TON of Tokens each combat and then have even more for the turn after. (Turning them all in to (non legendary) brudiclads)

But that still leaves me not knowing which way to go. I want to keep this more casual, don't want to just run over my opponents making the game unfun, but i also don't want to lose every game either, nor do I want Brudiclad to be my only win con (One is hellkite Tyrant which will use brudiclad as a win con with all the artifact myrs. If I go a goblin theme it does require more effort on brudiclad than the Thoper/myr strat.

but that is only one idea, i want a few more and don;t want every game to be winning with hellkite or just overrunning with tokens. (And i am obviously going to be running some counter to protect against things like naturalize effects. (With board wipes being the only true killer.

So, I need some help. Please help.

I am just curios what people think is the potential of amass' in edh. While I do not feel the mechanic is great, I think dreadhorde invasion may have some staying power. Especially in decks lime ghave.

Grindstone is not the entirety of the picture though.

Victimize + Painter's Servant + Iona, Shield of Emeria can also heavily restrict a table from interaction, as an example.
8 years later and this is still the discussion: "What about this 3 card combo that probably wins the game?"

As Carthage points out just above me, you could have just gotten Mikaeus + Triskelion that actually does win the game. I haven't seen a single good reason why this is banned that isn't just worse than an already legal avenue. Neither Painter's Servant nor Grindstone are even banned in Duel Commander or MTGO Commander which are tuned for balance from tournament results, card prevalence, and other online data.

That is the issue it does not outright win the game. Instead it locks the game down so your opponents can do anything but play lands and use what they already have on board. You need a good hand to pull it off turn 1 but by no means is it a magical Christmas land hand. Turn 2, 3. If you opponents do not have an answer it is game over. Sure they may have a creature, but usually that early in the game, Oona can handle it. I bet the table will scoop. Even if they have a way to win, they will die to damage first.

Oona is fun. I ran her for a short time myself. She has a lot of potential to be casual or suffocating. I would make sure you have an infinite Mana combo or two, but only if the card used to make infinite Mana can be justified to be played by themselves as well. That way you still have a tribal theme going, while also having an "oops I win" in your back pocket.

You forget also, that it forces them to shuffle, if the top of their library is relevant for whatever reason.

EoT tutor... that makes top card relevant.

3 way match. I convince my opponent (A) to kill the third player. (B) so we can "Duke it out like men"
So he kills him off (A kills B) and then I slaver lock player A.

I have a jhoira deck that can constantly win turn 1 and seldom. Has game last over 4 turns.
It is not fun for them or me. So if I pull it out it is to win a game fast and let off a bit of stress.

Wait, why Gashnaw II? Did your other account die?

    Ummm....

I find it interesting how when you get to more competitive EDH, cards like Thoughtseize become a lot better. I don't play targeted discard in EDH because I find it to be card disadvantage (you and one opponent go down one card, the other two are not affected). When you get very competitive, card disadvantage doesn't matter as much as protecting your combo.

Yep. Account got hacked and after three weeks of trying t get twitch to get to my claim and nothing, i decided to make a new account (giving up on customer support) Since Salvation connects your account to your twitch account, that also meant that Gashnaw would no longer work.

another card that surprised me was rhythm of the wild. While I never thought it would be bad, it did FAR better than i thought it would. (though i misplayed twice, using Riot on tokens, and forgetting to both search and riot on my Brightspear. (It did not matter though, game ended a turn later, six dragons and two being Silumgar, the drifting death(-12/-12)

I know there are a list of cards that are just unplayable due to how bad they are. I am not looking for those. i am looking for cards most people would probably overlook due to its abilities. An example would be Dragonlord Kolaghan. Sure the first eight words of his textbox are useful, but he is a creature, easy to kill and he is 6 mana, a pretty decent investment. In most cases one would use cheaper ways to grant haste. (Plus his second ability is useless, or is it?)

Kolaghan is actually very useful, he is in a Dragon tribal deck so he is already easy to cast. In addition his second ability does work in EDH. granted it has to be situational. I faced a muldrotha, the gravetide deck and while he was able to cast some things, he was unable to cast his creatures (which were important) without losing a quarter of his starting life total.

So do you have any cards that seem worse than they are?

i believe this thread is what they'd call "necro".. it's from 2016!

    Did not even notice.
They need to implement a code that locks threads that has been inactive for x amount of time. (Maybe 6 months)

But not in the decklist forums.

I would let them play the card that game and ask them to replace the card next game. It was a mistake and that is fine. They were not intentionally using a banned card. (Well they were, but did not know it was banned)

I have done the same thing with a guy who cast a time walk, was kinda of angered he had a time walk in the first place, but let him know it was banned.

Sweinefett, I disagree with your proposal towards the RC enforcing their rules. They say on the site that it is suggested not to play with those cards. However, having a ban list is a smart move. It is small (and it also removes all ante and un cards)
It regulates some cards that can turn the game to be less fun.

  • posted a message on Talk - It is conceading fair play to you?
I concede when i know the game is over for me. (Sometime in mid combat when i am dying either way, i just want to give them the satisfaction of killing me.

I also concede when i feel i am being focused for no reason. Sure i have a powerful dragon deck but drive me nuts when i am being focused when there are much larger threats at the table. My Deck does two things, Play creatures and turn sideways, there is no combo or alternate win con, it is bringing your life to 0.

I will also concede when all options have been exhausted. When every answer i have in my deck is gone. Sure i may have board wipes but my dragon deck is not a recursion deck, when all my recursion spells (Which is very low) have been depleted, and have very little dragons that can close the game available in my deck, i know i cannot win and concede. It is not in poor taste or anything, i just know i lost and there is no reason to continue.

When you play against anyone who uses cards that take control of yours, someone is going to find out eventually.

I would like to know how that would be possible. I play with people who sleeve cards. But when you have decks worth a few hundred to my current deck being worth over 4k You tend to want to keep the cards safe. So unless you play with people who have some weird need to unsleeve a card when they take control of yours, there would still be no reason for them to find out.

That said I only proxy card sthat I don;t have mutiple copies of (like Mana crypt) or cards that i am playtesting (Like when i played Nin, the pain artists the day she was spoiled.) If they are a NO PROXY bunch, well then either find alternative cards, buy the real ones or find a different group.

Personally in EDH with no prizes, I don't see the big deal, Its for fun so if someone cannot afford the price tag, let them play with proxies. We had a guy who had decks with 80+ cards were proxied. he uses real cards now but not only was he proxying cards but he was using Time walk in EDH. He didn't know the ban list.
Even then i had no problem with him using proxies since i was pretty bad when i first started playing EDH as well. (About 20 proxies in a deck) (Well maybe not first started, but still early on, third deck, firth deck. Pretty much every deck after my first two ran at least one proxy or another. Now i have one deck with no proxies (Costing 4k+) and one deck with a couple proxies (Costing my guess is about 1k+) Not that it matters it usually wins by turn 3. Turn 1 and 2 are also consitant wins. cEDH is not fun, but I have a deck for when it is needed.
