The moment he put 3 Copters in the main I had no doubt 5:0 is in the future, the card has too much in power level to ignore.
I am between 3 or 4 copies at this moment.

He cut it down to 2 copies today and went 5-0 again:

With only 4 1-drops, 4 copies of Copter is probably pushing it. If you're running Tidal Warriors, perhaps, although I don't really know how to find the space for 3 Tidal Warriors + 4 Copters. There aren't enough flex slots unless you cut Chalices to 3 (bad decision in this meta IMO) and don't run any spells other than the 4 Force of Will.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that the Copter is amazing. Extra loot is fantastic in a deck like ours, since we don't have cantrips. But I'm between 2 or 3 copies, and leaning towards 2 (it's between a 4th Image and a 3rd Copter for me at the moment).

Did your results make you consider making any changes to the 75?

Well, that's fair. But Copter isn't like Image in that the ceiling is much lower (Image can outright win you the game vs Show and Tell or Reanimator) and it's way worse in multiples than Image, since Image can copy 2 of the same creature while Copter can't really do that.

After testing, I think Copter can be considered as a 1-2of.

4 is definitely too much. Just as how we don't run 4 Phantasmal Image because they're bad in multiples without any other creatures, we should also keep Copter to 3 at most.

Unfortunately, I'm giving up on the Tidal Warrior experiment. The proportion of blue decks in the meta hasn't gone down at all, which means that Tidal Warrior is more often than not a dead card in the MD. I did consider moving it to the SB, but I prefer Tidebinder Mage in the non-blue deck hoser slot, as it also happens to hit Deathrite.

While the Warrior itself has been disappointing, it has enabled the use of Smuggler's Copter, which has performed admirably for me. I might continue to keep Copter in the deck as a 1of, with the Warriors making way for the 4th Vial, 4th Chalice (still really good in the new meta) and a Harbinger of the Tides.

A few Merfolk placers in Japan this week:

Pretty standard lists, with one playing Daze.

Currently testing 2 Copter in the MD, together with 1 Warping Wail. I know the manabase is shaky but as a 1of it's been performing well for me.

I could always bring in a 3rd Copter, replacing the 1of Echoing Truth or the Warping Wail. Trading with a Delver isn't the worst thing in the world but it always feels slightly underwhelming whenever that happens. I do like the looting effect when it happens though.

Be careful of Reverent Silence coming out of the SB if you opt for Leyline.

Reanimator is probably Burn's worst matchup. Something like 80-20 G1 and 65-35 postboard. There's not much we can do against T1 Griselbrand, not to mention Iona.

If you want to have a chance, you need to devote at least 4 slots in the SB to it. I prefer Faerie Macabre, but you might prefer Leyline of the Void instead. Or you could just ignore the matchup and hope to dodge it, given that it's still unfavourable post-board.

Sure, but even if you don't consider budget options, Swan Song is a better card than Flusterstorm in some situations, as it's a hard counter. I brought the card up because people are debating between Flusterstorm and Negate, and I consider Swan Song to be a better card than Negate in this deck.

With all this Flusterstorm vs. Negate talk, what about Swan Song? I certainly prefer it over Negate, but am not sure about it over Flusterstorm (although it is $80 cheaper). We don't care about the 2/2 flyer, so it's really playing 1 mana less for the tradeoff of not hitting PWs and artifacts. I think most of the time, you want to counter an instant or sorcery, so to me it's the better choice.
