That's one inspiring, lawful good hero wielding one seriously evil, soul-killing sword...
I'm getting a kick out of this dynamic also playing out in the Cosmere, Brandon Sanderson's (the dude who wrote Children of the Nameless) universe, with Szeth and Nightblood. IIRC, Words of Radiance came out long before the Dominaria story, so maybe the end made someone at Wizards think "oh yeah, we have a black, soul-eating blade of our own, huh?" Or maybe, more likely, it's just a fantasy trope to have the lawful good character wield the Soul Eater. Still makes me chuckle.
Anyone else notice the dead dryad in the picture looks like the one from Growth Spiral???
But in a white robe instead of blue/green?
My god, my first thought was this card's a straight 10/10 - fantastic in Limited, could see some play in Constructed, phenomenal art, and that flavor text! This bumps it up to an 11, though, really driving the flavor text home.
He honestly might see play in Vintage just as a one-sided Null Rod for 4, at least in sideboards. Actually, scratch that, the dude's a one-sided Null Rod that can also reach into your SB to grab your: Pithing Needle, Grafdigger's Cage, Tormod's Crypt, Engineered Explosives... the list goes on and on. If the decks that can reliably cast this on turn 2 start playing it main, Dredge may lose a LOT of percentage points in G1s. The more I think about it, the more confident I am that he's going to make a huge splash in Vintage.
6) Davriel Cane will work together with "Wanderer" (whoever it is).
HOID!
(Fair warning, if you intend to read Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere books in the future, don't google the name unless you don't mind seeing spoilers)

Damn, too bad - I couldn't help thinking "ehhh, just knock the horns off and let Ugin rule."
