Hello everyone, since my favourite planeswalker lore-wise is Jace i would like to ask some suggestion for a deck (not competitive, with a base around 100$ that can be upgraded eventually) in which one of his cards can play an important role. Of course he doesn't have to be necessarily the commander of the deck.

Well, i like the control/cruel-control/theme-gimmik decks.. and the annoying ones for aggro players (not because i dislike aggro, since i was one myself, but because in my playgroup most of people just spams creatures without logic and when they kill you off by the third turn they act like they completely outsmarted you.. so i've started to play that kind of decks to have fun and, at the same time, to annoy them as much as i can. I know i'm a bad person). OT: at this point my picks, for what i've seen on the internet, for a commander are The Scarab God and Oloro, Ageless Ascetic. At my local game shop they've advised me Aminatou, the Fateshifter pre-con but i don't like a Planeswalker as a commander.. however if you think that deck fits my type of style i could consider it as an option.

Hello everyone, i've (re)started playing magic just a few months ago but in modern/standard format. Now i would like to play in commander. I've not many ideas since it's my first time in the format in terms of deckbuilding. If i had to chose some coulors i would say black and blue (and, eventually, white) but i'm open to different combinations if you suggest me deck you consider very solid for a beginner. My budget is around 100-120$.

There is certainly a limit to the number of fogs you want which is why I would move towards ones that do more than fog only once. Moment's Peace can be another good one along those lines. It really comes down to how fast you need to be. And, a bigger piece is, what are you going to do after fogging? You can't fog all the time so you really need a way to clear the board or win with the Goblin player tapped out. I think Rezzahan's suggestions are good and it might be worth branching into another color to get those effects.

The fact is that i've not trouble with aggro decks in general but with goblin decks in particular that can fill the board by turn 3-4 with creatures. To avoid changing completely my deck i was thinking that if i can make my oppenent "waste" his battle fase for a couple of turns (when needed) i can manage to deal 10 damage in form of infect counters thanks to Triumph of the Hordes. Otherwise i could aim to use the power up given by Joraga Warcaller or Ezuri, Renegade Leader to other creature to win. I know it's not a solid plan but it could allow me not to change my deck completely.

My followup question is: do you mean Monogreen control or more bluish colored control? If you are looking at just monogreen you'd really have to know your meta. Respite would probably be the fog effect of your choice against aggro.

No, i was thinking of building a new deck. I was interested in making a blue control deck.. The "fog" question was to know how to modify my deck if i had to face a deck like that and thus how many cards of that kind to put in the side deck.

If i wanted to put in cards like fog that can prevent getting damage, how many of them would you recomend in order to extend my lifespan but, at the same time, without changing my deck completely just to adjust to the opponent?

Thanks for your advices. Have you got any ideas for a control deck that can do well against aggro/goblin?

    Hello everyone,
My friends and i have started playing magic for fun just a few months ago. In our playgroup there is a guy with a mono red goblin deck which is very difficult to beat since by turn 3-4 he already has a lot of creatures on the board. For exemple i run a mono green elves deck that is basically no match up for that deck since he kills me off before i can set up my win conditions (aka Ezuri, joraga warcaller, triumph of the hordes..). People at our local game shop told me about some decks that are very good match ups for goblin (for exemple "soul sisters") but i would rather build a deck that it's not specifically made in order to beat goblin decks but that can do well against aggro in general. Being new to the game i've not many ideas. The budget for the deck should be around 70-80$.
