The deck wants in the opening hand a Mana Severance, may require mulligan digging. The mulligan rules, at least used at the playgroups and LGS I frequent are: Free Mulligan + London Mulligan rules.
If Severance isn't showing up, alternatives to obtain it are through Mystical Tutor, Muddle the Mixture, or Long-Term Plans. If none of those show up, settle for a Drift of Phantasms if possible to take a long route of Drift - Plans - Severance.
Serum Powder is self explanatory in a mulligan heavy deck.
Sol Ring is Sol Ring and everyone knows the song and dance for it by now.
Gemstone Caverns is in the deck not because you can reliably get it, but because it makes the deck run faster if fortune is favorable, it should however be considered secondary priority while getting Mana Severance or a tutor for Severance is primary priority.
From there Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, Endless Atlas, and Jace, Wielder of Mysteries to dig deeper into the deck. After a Mana Severance, is usually 8-12 cards from testing depending on how the opening hand and mulligans and draws went. This means that, when factoring the draw from the draw phase, the deck has a draw power of 1-6, which means the deck is milled in 12-2 turns depending on draws and fortune from self mill.
Fastest it can be is a turn 4 win, slowest is turn 11.
In case of decks with a counterspell package it runs Cavern of Souls primarily to protect Prodigy.
The deck also packs a Paradigm Shift. This card essentially has two uses.
1) It restocks the deck with cards in the graveyard, which is 2-8 cards based on self-mill.
2) It can be used to accelerate the deck if a Maniac and/or Wielder are in hand or on the field based on the number of cards already in the graveyard, less is better for acceleration.
Since January of last year.
It may sound strange, but I actually didn't consult other lists when brewing this. Just through trial and error when brewing as the deck became a sort of puzzle mini-game in my free time.
I don't know why people think its the same text. There is actually the small possibility you would have actually whiffed on his ultimate if it was just "draw seven" because you actually had seven cards in your library meaning you couldn't win the game from just his ultimate. But because it has that extra bit of text where it checks if your library is empty, it will still trigger a win, but not because you tried to draw cards when you had no cards in your library.
I kind of expected the bow to be more combat oriented, like it would put a creature onto the battlefield from your hand and have that creature fight another creature. End of fighting, return your creature to your deck.
If they do a Viking set, I hope to see snow-covered lands. Not just from a thematic point, but expanding on the idea while also lowering the price barrier to entry with reprints of cards like snow-covered mountain and snow-covered island.
Garruk = Buy-a-Box promo from the set "White knight outrage about toxic masculinity in a fantasy game taken out of context and without shame on protecting fictional women"
In all seiouly wizards is on a hiatus with Garruk because redit users think Triumph of Ferocity is ofensive and the character should be killed to never be remembered again. I don't want to start a controversity but outrage about minimal and ridicule things is a thing in the "mtg community" even Jin Davis and PewDiePie can't escape the outrage.
Soo expect to never see garruk again and later in story learn he was killed off screen
Tibalt, Life of the PartyRR Legendary Planeswalker - Tibalt (MR) +1: Draw a card, then discard a card. 0: Put a -1/-1 counter on target creature. -X: Create X 1/1 red Devil creature tokens with "When this creature dies, it deals 1 damage to any target." [2]
Felt inspired to make this after seeing the stained glass art for the planeswalkers today.
Also I hope Tibalt's pw card isn't Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded and they actually do him justice this time.
Tibalt could very well be the "Dan Hibiki" of Magic. (I'd continue the comic book metaphor, but then I remembered DC took a different arc with Doctor Light.)
