I’m on 2 sanctuary. I don’t want it to come into play tapped on 1 I want to be playing my eggs then. I upped fetches to get it out of the deck when I need it.
Nottuh why are you passing on elsewhere flask? It still fixes mana and is simply better than guild globe. Flask even lets your fetchlands tap for mana.
Ladies and gentlemen, we may yet have another chance to shine.
This seems really strong. I am sleeving something up as I type. Maybe I am overthinking this. But it makes our loop much easier to obtain, and gives us resilience to discard.
Here's what I got so far for a Bolas's Citadel combo deck. No egg recursion, just straight to the Citadel as fast as possible. Pretty consistent turn 4 gold fish, with some turn 3, rarely fizzles with London mulligan + Serum Powder.
With 11 lands and tons of redraw/shuffle, it's highly improbable that any fizzling will happen once Bolas's Citadel is on the board. The dice factory mana (cornucopia, chalice, coretapper) is both explosive in the early game and important during the combo as it amounts to free mana and free spell count. You need to set up the Aetherflux before you run out of life, so sometimes Reshape x=4 needs to be cast. Serum Powder, Mox opal, Reshape x=0 for Lotus Bloom, and the dice factory all profit mana when cast from library, while Chromatic Star and Conjurer's Bauble help put a Reshape from the top into the hand (and Shredder can nab from graveyard). Otherwise, during a combo, a Reshape on top will usually be x=0 for a Darksteel Citadel out of the library, to reduce the land count.
Fortunately, with Serum Powder and London mulligan, finding a Citadel or Reshape in an opening hand isn't too hard, you just need to mulligan liberally. Need to be careful with Serum Powder -- need 1 Aetherflux Reservoir in library, as well as 1 Bolas's Citadel, and probably 1 Watery Grave too.
Anyways, that's all I have for 0 games played versus opponents. The goldfishing is fun though.
Im glad someone else saw similar potential, I had posted the same thing a few posts ago and nobody commented.
Typically no one will have grave hate game one. The game plan game two doesn’t have to be all in combo. You can grab a different fatty like emperyial archangel, white or red akroma based on the matchup. Or just clock them with terrastodon if they have something to lock you out of graveyard. Alternatively you can play a wild cantor and a natures claim and just kill their piece before winning. We just need to be careful about not getting shoal surgicalled.
In no way does conflagration make us weak to gy hate. We still have priority after casting it. A main deck terastodon would be a nice play. Should the opponent have anything to prevent us from griselbranding them. It’s an 8 a green dude so it can be shoaled. And it can win games via Neoform on its own. Just be careful to not get it after pacting.
@Curbros,
As for the planeswalkers with multiple nongreen-colored mana requirements (Ashiok, Narset) I think they are too difficult to reliably cast on t2/3 without having an Oath of Nissa. I think it's liable to get stuck in hand often and still be too slow to come out to be really helpful. Dovin only has 1 colored mana requirement and presuming you're running Breeding Pool, he should be castable in a timely manner.
Pretty much my thoughts also. I am slightly more inclined to include ashiok as the effect is very strong. I think Narset is not what we want to be doing. And Dovin is fine. I think damping sphere is better even if it hurts us too.
I do like the thought of playing green over red mostly for sideboard options.

I don't think its quite the same concept/deck. It changes a lot of its gameplan to go with that.

Can we do something juicy with increasing vengeance? Casting from the yard?
