Blade Splicer is deffinitely better in Eldrataxes and higher blinking synergy. in specific cases it can be very good, I don't think its our case.

4 chalices seems to be the go to competitive list in GW right now, with declaration in stone and all that. I don't own Chalices so I can't really test meself, but it has been doing well on MODO lately.

Big Thalia is a tech I didnt really think about tbh, the art alone should have made me consider the card. I'll test it saturday
Sadly I have none to test. I shall await your results. It is a beautiful card. By this standard I suppose one should give the new Serra a go as well, huh?

I hate how often I get here and see this sweet new brew and realize they just lose to tron. Hate how often I go to the estabilished and someone asks about tron and people say its a lost match. I just think tron is harmfull to the format and kills creativity.

Titan I put as a maybe because they get lumped together often. But honestly its tron I hate

Tireless Tracker Will be a 4 off I think. It performes so well.

Thalia, guardian of thraben is a must imho, it slows down the boogie man of the format in phoenix and its all arround great. one of my favorite cards in modern

Modern has a huge pool of cards and of course new strategies will rise to the top and the meta will adapt to it, exploring that huge pool and adapting to combat the new strategies. Saying that every time something happens doesnt really help the conversation, it keeps shifting the focus.
Of course some threats will break the format for a while and everyone will adapt to the strategy, but just repeating this everytime someting happens just shifts the focus from what matters. WOTC printed way too many free/1 mana cards that sculpt your hand and to make it worse they made a payoff for playing it. Being able to sculpt your hand this heavily allows players to hit the right plays way too often. Some lists will run 17-18 lands and hit every land drop they need, because they have those cards. Opt, Visions, Looting, Scour, etc. That alone just pushes players into those decks. Printing payoff for playing 3 cantrips a turn is an ever bigger mistake.

I wish they banned Looting, Stirrings, tron lands and maybe amulet, then the format would be mostly fair and a variety of strategies would be playable and fun.

Built this list for a big tournament in Mobile, AL where top prize is a 2005 Mustang GT. I'm concerned about if I'm running too many colorless sources and if I should shove in Voice of Resurgence somehow.

I think you either run vial or CoCo tbh. Also, CoCo at 5cost because of thalia

I guess there is a pointless discussion to be held here. Like looting is a tempo play acting like a draw 4 but it is pointless in the end of the day

Thing is in the ice we have almost 3 months between now and the release of modern horizons. if printing answers is the solution, we will have this meta, in this state for that long?

New Guild of ravnica card Knight of autumn could be played over the pridemage, right? Knight has the variety to be usefull in more MUs

what aggro are warping the formats? Humans was the only aggro deck to make t8 last weekend. are we considering Izzet phoenix aggro? because imho its definitely tempo

I think WOTC has a decision to make, modern is supposed to be a fair format or it isnt? what kind of decks do we want? Jund and Abzan grinding or t3 karn.

A slower, fair format allows fair combo to exist, it allows control to exist same for aggro and midrange. Thats a healthy format. Unfair decks stop other decks from being able to exist in the meta. Tron being arround stops several decks from being playable

Always amused by people's opinions on 'card selection' OP ban it all (a huge part of this is WotC's stance on B&R list maintenance).

Every colour does it the issue isn't that it happens or the cost but the disparity between what colours have access to.
IE banning stuff never solves the problem!

(Off topic example education the issue isn't that one group has more or better it's that the other group don't have fair access to it. You don't make things better by taking stuff from other people.)

Would love to see sfm come off the ban list and maybe a new squadron hawk printed in white.

    Preordain unbanned in blue

    Red keeps faithless looting

Green keeps ancient stirrings and gets a sylvan librarian designed to help fair decks

And finally black get a reasonable tutor eg cruel tutor power level(ish)

Essentially what I'm saying is they'll keep printing cool cards that break decks for short periods of time. But if they keep lopsided banning of certain enablers they guarantee having to ban other enablers in the future.

This isn't a madden team where you just sign the highest overall players and run with it. It needs synergy what you proposed would flat out make things worse. Preordain would be played in most of the looting decks making them better.

Library and Stirrings don't necessarily go together.and wouldn't make things better. We do need a shake up

Yes WOTC keeps printing graveyard and pushing it and yes looting has been arround for as long as thalia GoT, but those new interactions are the one hurting everything. It's not a fluke more than half of top 8 decks were running the card. WOTC has poorly designed interactions with modern in mind, for sure. but now its done and something has to be done to adress it. We are running mainboard hate against those decks and they still keep winning. Looting itself isnt a broken card, WOTC just keep printing interactions that break it

[[Knight of Autumn]] Is versatile enough to be run MB, ramunap excavator can lead to blowouts against decks like phoenix that run very few lands and might be punished for this. I'm spinning a GW Hatebears list into this one. Idk about CoCo because I do want to play Thalia GoT though

In a world with early game Karn, Primetime, Ugin and etc I don't see how Stoneforge is "too good"; I might be wrong but I just don't see it.

I also agree UR has way too many filtering cards. Phoenix decks play about 20 cards that draw/filter for free or 1 mana. mainboard, 24 if you wana count the flashback.

GP bilbão had 20 FL in the top 8. Thats 5 out ot 8 decks running 4 copies, just too much

"No I don't enjoy it but I still play, could do with significant changes"

I love modern, I get to play my favorite cards from past standards together its sweet. Except I can't. the format is warped arround some decks that make most other strategies flat out unplayable. How many threads you enter and see it's a autoloss to tron? Way to many.

Modern is set up in a way the that we can't really be creative. Phoenix, Tron, Titan and maybe dredge make everything follow some kind of rules when deckbuilding and yet theres not much one can do against it. When it was the last time we saw some midrange deck have some solid runs? Whats a sweet token build people are running? we have the same decks doing the same things

My take is : Tron was a mistake, actually messing with mana in unfair ways usually is. WOTC has printed way too many 1 collor/free cantrips that let you filter your deck way too much, letting izzet get away with playing so few lands, shaping their hands and fueling the yard and by extention allowing some degenerate things happen. Modern isn't healthy right now,I feel I could pop on standard and have a higher variery of decks be viable.
