A New and Exciting Beginning

The End of an Era

I've taken a break from Magic for a couple months and from deck-building, however...The cardboard crack strikes again.

First time poster, long time lurker, etc. etc.

This is a deck based around Retrace, Ramunap, and the Gitrog/Seismic combo. I'm looking to get any feedback, complaints, compliments or questions regarding what horror i've created.

    THINGS TO NOTE
    1. I do not care about topping any GPs, so suggesting 2-300$ cards would not be constructive here.
    2. I am a total Johnny, so suggesting Siege Rhino, Maelstrom Pulse, Abrupt Decay are too..."mainstream". Im playing for fun, not to destroy the competition.
    3. I exclusively play kitchen table/infrequently attend FNMs. As such, "You should run 4 Lili's!" would not be constructive either.
Without further adieu, lets get started!

(I will start with the non-creatures first, as this is a spell-heavy deck, and the creatures are more facilitators)

    ----Spells----

    x4 Faithless Looting

This deck wants lands in the grave. This gets us lands in the grave. This deck wants play-me-from-the-grave. This has play-from-the-grave.

    x4 Commune with the Gods

This card grabs creatures or enchantments (1 of which allows a near instant-win con, the other grabs us our value engine). And whoa, does this also put lands in the grave? Who knew.

    x3 Smallpox

Wish I had a 4th, but I dont yet. This also puts lands in the grave. It also gives us some non-targeting creature removal. We also have to discard a card? I wonder what type of card we would discard.

    x3 Flame Jab

Yes, I understand its not very good for it's value BUT, all you need is one mountain, one land to discard (this is a good thing!) and you have a finite combo, from the grave. This card also has Retrace, incase anyone didnt know. You can cast it from the grave by paying its mana cost, discarding a land, and then applying the effect. This can happen as often as you'd like.

    x3 Raven's Crime

Similar to Flame Jab, except this needs a swamp, and discards a card from an opponent's hand. Playing against Control? Rip apart their hand. Playing against Bogles? No one plays Bogles, come on. This also has Retrace.

    x2 Magmatic Insight

One mana discard a land (have you guessed this is a good thing yet?) and draw two cards? Sign me up. Running 2 because frankly, I didnt have any more.

    x2 Life from the Loam

Aaaahhhh this is how we get our lands back. And it has dredge which works with well with another card listed below. With this card, and a single Flame Jab, or Ravens Crime in the grave, you could very, very easily kill an opponent, or rip apart their entire hand (assuming you had the mana for 1-mana spells...) Running two because 3 would be cloggy, and we burn through our deck as is with milling/drawing. Might be wrong, and up it to 3 though.

    x2 Seismic Assault

You know it, you love it. What jank deck can be complete without this sucker?

Discard lands to it, get the lands back with Life from the Loam? Or play them with another card? Yes please. Running 2 because its searchable-ish with Commune, and because its needs RRR its kind of rough to get online turn 3.

    x1 Realms Uncharted

Whats this card even do?! Its basically a Gifts Ungiven for lands. Find 4 (has to be four) lands with different names, your opponent picks two to go to the grave and you get the others. Need RR for Seismic in your hand? Play this and grab one. If your opponent bins the mountain, grab it back with LftL, or play it directly with another card youll see later. Running 1 because thats all my LGS had. Definitely would up it to 2.

    x1 Worm Harvest

First, this thing has Retrace. Thats good. It costs 5 mana. Thats bad. It makes a 1/1 token for each land in your grave. Thats very good. Only running 1 as its mana-heavy, has retrace anyways, and the tokens arent flyers.

    -----Creatures------

Okay, we have a graveyard full of lands, or lots of ways to bin lands...What do we do about it?!

    x4 Ramunap Excavator

This card is absolutely bonkers in this deck. Sure, it can be bolted, and doesnt add value the turn it comes out, like other Spike-y Jund decks...But I can assure you, this makes the deck pop. Realms Uncharted into any lands, and then just cast the one your opponent didnt give you. Effectively never missing a land drop, and using your pitched lands as actual lands is so satisfying.

    x3 The Gitrog Monster

You know him, you love him, you hate him, its the Frog boi. His secondary effects (drawing cards when a land hits the grave) gives this particular deck so much speed and draw it should be banned in 6 countries. Pitch a land off Seismic, or Ravens Crime, or Flame Jab? Nice. Draw a card. Pitch a land off Magmatic Insight? Nice. Draw three cards for one mana.

    ----The Special Lands----

    x3 Ghost Quarter

Gitrog + GQ is good. Ramunap + GQ is better. Ramunap + Gitrog + GQ is the best.

    x3 Dakmor Salvage

Whoa. Another dredge card? Another land? Pitch it with Realms, or literally any other card, to set up for a win con.

(Gitrog + Seismic + Dakmor is pretty much a guaranteed win on the spot).

    x6 Swamp

    x9 Forest

    x7 Mountain

    -----------

Looking for any ways to sharpen this deck, make it more consistent/better without throwing 1500$ at it.

It plays really, really well. To me, anyways, there are lots of way you can sequence your turns with Ramunaps play-with-your-grave ability. Along with that, there's a handful of ways to shut down your opponent, from multiple Ravens in one turn, to a much needed Smallpox, to Seismic-ing a creature, and drawing a ton with Gitrog.

    Thats all, folks!
